Do any of y'all rent out your campers or toy haulers? Got those that don't have one, would you be interested in renting one for a weekend of riding or racing?

I'm thinking about purchasing a toyhauler. I've looked at rentals around the Texas area through sites similar to air b&b and it seems a 3 night rental is about $150-250 per night. The $250 price point after taxes and fees was just over $1,100 for 3 nights.

Knowing my intent to purchase as a race rig, does anyone have any experience with renting out your toy hauler or campers?

If you don't have one, would you be interested in renting one for $700-$1,000 for a big race weekend, if it was delivered to the track for three days?

There is a lot of people that rent them for amateur nationals and other multiday or weeklong races. I also know a lot of people that have rented them to see what it’s like for a weekend (practicality).

If you delivered it for them (like you said), I can see that being a big success.

Considering the way modern RVs are built... I would be very adverse to renting mine out and letting others use it. Doesn't take much for this to break, that to fail, this thingie to get weird, etc.

FWIW we have a 2015 27' Forest River Gray Wolf.

You know there are quite a few with aluminum frames and 1 piece roof caps right? They aren't going to act like a brick building but people thinking they can beat the shit out of them add a lot to the low reputation of toy haulers. Most Toy Haulers now are built to haul UTV's. They are a lot beefier than even your 17.

I work on RVs/trailers, IMO the quickest way to diminish value along with ruin the trailer is to rent it out. People that are renting these things treat them like it’s a house and let their kids run rampant, and surely enough the trailer will be destroyed in one summer or after just a few renters.

It’s different if you’re just letting a friend borrow it for a weekend or two. But if you plan on buying an RV and then renting it while you’re not using it, be ready to spend thousands in repair costs.

Seems crazy to me precovid. Like Captmoto said people who don’t own them personally treat them like they’re a well built house. We have had our keystone for a couple years now and love it, our friends have work and plays and they have held up great for the past 3 or 4 years now.

Yeah, that's sort of what I was trying to say. Our 2015 is in overall great shape, and my wife and I are very meticulous with our stuff, but the way our 1990 Teton 5th wheel is built (it's on our property as a guest house) compared to our 2015 toy hauler... it's night and day. Everything on the toy hauler has to be so lightweight to compensate for the payload... it just don't hold up to abusive people.

Outdoorsey....just rented a toy hauler. 3 nights came to $478 with tax, cleaning fee and dumping. Was awesome and much cheaper then owning if you dont camp that much. Plus i look close to event and only drive it a short distance and use walmart grocery pickup on the way.....

I looked pretty hard at doing the RVShare.com thing a few years back.

At the end of the day I just couldn't convince myself that it was really worth the time and effort it was going to take.

So many variables beyond just the wear and tear that it didn't make sense to me.

Don't do it. Wear and tear aside, (which is a valid concern). It's not worth it when you rent your "unit" out to someone with no experience and you have to be a 24 hr. concierge. I mean I like playing with my "unit" all day, but teaching someone all day how to play gets old fast.

As stated above, letting people who don't know how to drive or pull a RV sounds like a terrible time to me. Not worth the hassle if you're planning on keeping it long term, I don't even lets friends or family borrow mine.
