Serious question, now that this virus has mutated and is potentially already here in the states, will this current vaccine know how to defend against a mutated virus cell structure? Kinda like the flu shots they give out every year, where they make an educated guess on what strain to vaccinate against.
That is a good question, and though I am not sure they have definitive answers to that yet, this is what I heard:

The mRNA sequence is replicating the "spikey" profile of the virus, attaches to the virus, and is able to kill it.

That "spikey" profile is not a part of what is mutating, so the mRNA instructions are still going to work on the virus.

(Just what I am reading, could be wrong.)

We have a mutation in the UK at the moment, the vaccine is still effective so the scientists are saying.

I don’t think we will ever be able to go out again without a mask.
Disagree.

We can go out without a mask here now. Always could. As long as you stay 6' away from the next person. But if you go inside you need to wear one. Unless it is into your household bubble with 10 people or less.

Why haven't we discussed at length the ways to treat the virus if infected? If the vax maybe works some of the time isn't the important question how and what needs to be done for patients to improve outcome were are the treatment guidelines to improve outcome if infected go to the CDC website its a maze. I understand there is a lot of different affects that the virus has on the body but with 10s of millions infected one would think case studies on treatment and plans would be formulated and dumbed down for the public to read and understand. The wife and I have had covid she worked on the covid floor on and off and got the covid got sick and recovered in about 2 weeks, no treatment presented to help with the recovery process other than stay home. Hasn't been enough discussion on treatment, after all you are your own patient rep and should have knowledge of treatments available. We have been told a shot and a mask will help get to the end faster what happens if the end is farther than we imagine..

I'm a maintenance guy I like to troubleshoot issues to reduce failure rate, I feel this is like your supervisor just telling you to replace the burnt motor because that will resolve the problem and its a quick fix, it makes the tenant and the people happy but never really fixes the underlying issue that inevitably will pop back up.

Some people just do what the boss says because they are on the clock ,in this particular instance though the "boss" works for us.

Guess you could call me a skeptic. I feel like they have to say it’s still effective.

They've vaccinated half a million people here so far, we will find out soon enough.

Dramatic? lol I’d argue this entire pandemic has been massively dramatized.

As far as never being to go without a mask. These clowns y’all call leaders in these countries won’t let us outside ever again without a damn mask. just to be safe ! We used to it now, why not keep it going for the greater good ? Here here.

Feels that way don’t it? We took our two year old to see Santa and we had to sit on some hay bales with plexiglass behind us dividing us from the jolly fat man. Like the old man was in jail and photobombing us.

I think we will figure it out eventually.

Stuff does get too dramatic on both sides especially on topics of science. Whether its vaccines, climate change, pollution, diet, economics. We just can't have an honest conversation about anything because there's always vested interests, attention seekers, fear mongers, and straight up assholes involved.

No one knew what to do in a national health emergency because we never had one in our lifetime. We've been lucky. I hope we can learn from this going forward so if there is a worse situation in the future it doesn't turn into a shitshow like this.

I don't know what the answer to this is because this is such a weird sickness. I think everyone probably knows people that had it and barely felt anytbing and others who were sicker than they've ever been wondering how they could get to that state. Two thing is for sure, its not gonna go away in the next 6 months on its own, and we all want it to be over.

Vaccines aren't 100% so no. Keep wearing a mask until a good portion of the country is vaccinated.

Nice post.

I’ve lost faith in prevention of shit shows. These clowns won’t remember a damn thing. They won’t plan to prevent anything like this again. They’ll continue to think they can legislate it away with spending bills and Christmas tree legislation a day before the govt will Have to shutdown. Americas been shut down all year. Let the govt shutdown happen and maybe everyone else will throw $600 a the govt employees.

Wonder how long my click-vacation will be this time?

I doubt it.

They don't yet know for sure if the vaccines actually prevent you from contracting and being able to transmit the virus. All they know is that the vaccine stops you from getting sick with it.

I made a huge mistake of getting back on Facebook two

Last wed. I got tested, don’t have it. I worked trucking sept to June 11, straight. With everything locked down, working was normal, so I worked. Was in er in Portland 3-17,I looked worse than anyone in the packed hospital, just near dead. I,m not getting the vaccine. I got really sick from the side effects from a antibiotic cefuroxime recently. I prefer all natural vitamins, ibuprofen is the hardest drug I take.

My personal goal is to be the last man to never have a Facebook account. Nietzsche was genius: “ if you stare into the abyss, the abyss stares back at you"

It may come down to you and me! I have never signed up for any of them. Not friendster, myspace, fb, instagram, snapchat, tiktok, etc. Then again, I barely talk to people at all anyway, so not missing much.

Did the same. Joined some KX500 groups, found parts I couldn't find on ebay, so it was actually very helpful.

I only follow tracks for condition updates. I checked all the boxes to stay as ghosted as possible.

Those sneaky MFers will send me friend suggestions with people I work with. So they have my phone contacts or my travel data if "location" is on. Creepy

Facebook seems to be very good for making evident friends that you think are your friends that maybe shouldn't be.

I deleted FB years ago but it’s not a simple as logging out. You have jump through some hoops to get it permanently deleted. Zuckerberg looks like a creep but he’s one of the most powerful men in the world.
