Hello everyone- I posted a video, but thought I’d share some detailed photos of the bike. The box that has the front fender and box that has the handlebars was removed to not look so cluttered. Enjoy

What's the story behind it? Will it be ridden, raced or left in the crate? Big money purchase?

What an internal struggle! Ride this bike, display it or keep it in the crate?!

I hope at the very least you post a short video with this KX started so we can hear the audio of you clearing its' throat. Talk about braaaappp!

As a former NHL player , you may look at this girl like she’s in the penalty box and needs to be freed and ridden. I look at it as a piece of history that has earned preservation. There are KX500’s out there that are available if you need one to ride , and I’m sure that your Vidal brothers would help pitch in for it if you allowed us. Would love to meet you and hear your story if you ever make it to So Cal to run laps at Glen Hellen on Manny’s KX 500. Congrats on this find , and enjoy the road of happy destiny !

There’s nothing like the sound of a 500 pulling into the upper gears.. my avatar is on an 89 KX500, loved those things..

I’d leave that one unridden and find another one to ride. Once virginity is gone, it’s gone forever!

Think of it as an investment that at least you know you will make your money back if you leave in the crate. Like many have stated, you can find a used one to ride and let us drool over the one in the crate

Thanks Rawly! Yes, I'm never taking it out of the crate- so.... the search begins for a low hour 500'cc as my rider! Here in Canada, they are really hard to find, there's some that are for sale that are so clapped out it gross. Finding one that's mint will be a challenge, but I found one in the crate, so you never know. Take care!

There is nothing historical about this bike, it’s just a stock KX 500 that’s never been rode. I for one never got the obsession for crated bikes.

Letting it sit there and rot is a sin.

This bike and the story behind it are getting press now in the hockey news world as it must be part of the publicity for the book Pain Killer: A Memoir Of Big League Addiction.

Very cool, great story to share about overcoming addiction, and of course an epic bike in pristine condition.

Pretty awesome find.

The OP deleted his post trying to sell it in the For Sale/Bazaar as he was taking heat over how it seemed he only bought the crate bike to pump up his story and then turn around and sale it. All that after coming on here asking Vital members what he should do with it. The whole thing didn't seem very genuine.

I'm sure Mav can correct if I'm wrong as I know he had chimed in on the for sale post.

Bike was apparently sold, so got rid of the ad.

Yeah for those who missed the for sale ad Myz74 said a collector bought it who will display it with 60+ other bikes. Myz74 said his asking price of 33K was not too high and that's what it sold for. That's a nice profit for sure.

I'll chime in. Finding the bike and buying the bike in the crate had nothing to do with my book coming out. I would have bought this a thousand times over at anytime in my life that I could afford it.

Someone made me a deal in minutes, so I sold it and bought a used KX500 as a rider.

Take care
