Myz74 Started a new thread In The Crate KX500 Photos

Hello everyone- I posted a video, but thought I’d share some detailed photos of the bike. The box that has the front fender and box that has the handlebars was removed to not look so cluttered. Enjoy

I'll chime in. Finding the bike and buying the bike in the crate had nothing to do with my book coming out. I would have bought this a thousand times over at anytime in my life that I could afford it. Someone made me a deal in minutes, so I sold it and bought a used KX500 as a rider...

This bike and the story behind it are getting press now in the hockey news world as it must be part of the publicity for the book Pain Killer: A Memoir Of Big League Addiction. Very cool, great story to share about overcoming addiction, and of course an epic bike in pristine condition.

As a former NHL player , you may look at this girl like she’s in the penalty box and needs to be freed and ridden. I look at it as a piece of history that has earned preservation. There are KX500’s out there that are available if you need one to ride , and I’m sure that your Vidal brothers would help pitch in for it if you allowed us. Would love to meet you and hear your story if you ever make it to So Cal to run laps at Glen Hellen on Manny’s KX 500. Congrats on this...

There’s nothing like the sound of a 500 pulling into the upper gears.. my avatar is on an 89 KX500, loved those things.. I’d leave that one unridden and find another one to ride. Once virginity is gone, it’s gone forever!

Thanks Rawly! Yes, I'm never taking it out of the crate- so.... the search begins for a low hour 500'cc as my rider! Here in Canada, they are really hard to find, there's some that are for sale that are so clapped out it gross. Finding one that's mint will be a challenge, but I found one in the crate...

What an internal struggle! Ride this bike, display it or keep it in the crate?! I hope at the very least you post a short video with this KX started so we can hear the audio of you clearing its' throat. Talk about braaaappp!

I agree 100%. You take it out of the create, it's no longer a Unicorn. I've seen a few unridden ones, but this is the first in the crate I've seen. Nice gesture TG.

Myz74 Wondering, did your bike come with a full spares kit? I've had two KX500's , 1997 and the '04 like yours, both purchased new . Each bike came with a full spares kit in a box. Piston, rings, O-rings ,levers, silencer packing, jets, full gasket set, conrod bearings you name it. And a race book to record your lap times wrapped in plastic like everything else. Magic. Still got the spares kits. In contrast, the new CR500 I bought in 2001 came with nothing but the A4 manual and an owners hand- book. The CR500 was also more expensive new...
