Would like to know where in the world you shipped the bike from, I recognized that yellow tape immediately. Too bad they opened it, hope they didn't leave any marks or scratches.

Nice find. You don't redline a KX500 in any gear btw. Short shifting is the key. Had 'em new since '97. Just noticed who the post was from. Take it easy. 'No-one can say they know all about dirt bikes till they've been through the gears on a KX500' Quote, Dirt Bike magazine. Well done, Enjoy your Christmas.
Thank you my friend! Merry xmas to you too

That was a really great story and very motivational during these times. Please keep sharing and telling those stories. It's awesome how we can change so much throughout life, and look back at our past selves wondering what we were thinking. The person you were 12 years ago, was a completely different person than the man you are now. I look back on myself 5 years ago and think the same thing. To be honest, dirtbikes is what got me out of a horrible, mental rut in my life, so it's great seeing this bike bring you happiness.

Anyways, nice bike and merry christmas!

Couldn't agree more my friend, thank you for the kind words! My dirt bikes also got me through some rough times at home when I was a child- 1st bike was a 1980 YZ60 at 6 years old. Merry Christmas!

If ya need to ride one, I’ve got one that’s “Built by Jon Braasch”. Come on down to Cali & spend a day of laps at Glen Helen on it. We’ll get’er set-up by PC for ya.

About your life. You’re doing it right. You’re giving others a chance by sharing your Scar Tissue (another good book). Stoked that you made it thru.

Manny
I agree 100%. You take it out of the create, it's no longer a Unicorn.

I've seen a few unridden ones, but this is the first in the crate I've seen.

Nice gesture TG.

You have to ask yourself, is it more fun to look at, or to ride? I had so much fun racing my rattletrap YZ490 back in the 80's...and that KX is a much more sound scoot! I would build it, take it to the track, and "Bend It Like The Dogger!" BTW, congrats on your recovery. Rails of dirt are the only ones you need!

I would definitely ride it, never understood why people like to have bikes that never get ridden. If it's in my garage it's getting dirty.

Myz74 Wondering, did your bike come with a full spares kit? I've had two KX500's , 1997 and the '04 like yours, both purchased new . Each bike came with a full spares kit in a box. Piston, rings, O-rings ,levers, silencer packing, jets, full gasket set, conrod bearings you name it. And a race book to record your lap times wrapped in plastic like everything else. Magic. Still got the spares kits.

In contrast, the new CR500 I bought in 2001 came with nothing but the A4 manual and an owners hand- book. The CR500 was also more expensive new than the Green bike I bought 3 years later.

Seems Honda delivered the bike to their customers back then, Kawasaki looked after their customers in addition and, packed a cherry on top. Nice bike mate, look after it.
