My shop is 36' x 48'. Lived in it almost 4 years while we built our house. Still has bathroom and removed shower/tub and added a washer and dryer, super handy for riding gear and shop towels. Kids' bedrooms that I framed up morphed into a home gym. Always a work in progress along with the 6 other barns/shop buildings on the property.

Barns are nothing special....built by my Grandfather back in the early '50s on a budget. Things like this slowly rot into the ground in Western Oregon...very wet. Cool one is the cabin and old shop out back. Cabin was built by my uncle back in the '60s and the old shop back in 1935. My daughter lived in the cabin up until last week until finally being able to afford a place of her own.

The shop looks awesome. Very cool you kept the old buildings too.
Besides Albany and Eugene tracks, where else do you ride around there?

Sadly most of the barns will be replaced at some point. Over the years I already torn down 2 and an old slaughter house. Two others will fall down if not removed in the next couple of years. Kinda sad for me as I grew up there...property has actually been in the family since 1856.

For moto, we ride Albany and Eugene all the time. Washougal when we can. Usually make a trip over to High Dez a couple times a year. We have a couple of private tracks we have access too as well as the home track right in the cabin front yard. Winter time we try to ride trails over the mountain also.

Do you mix your moto stuff in with the woodworking tools? I'm trying to decide what to do with my miter and table saw. Currently have them setup in another barn but dirt floor and open to the weather not great for storing wood and nice tools.

See allot of 9ld cabins like that in the cascades. Most are leaning and un stable. Yours still looks good. I love the old look. If you gonna let it rot I know people that use old wood like that for inside of new structures.

I have not been to Eugene yet - how is it. Albany is a fun track. I normally hit Riverdale as it has multiple tracks and is fun.

It is too bad some of the older buildings will be gone - that is great family history. Very cool the place has been in the family for over 160 years. That is not common.

I currently have no Moto stuff so, no. Lol. I haven’t had a bike in 20 years but hope to get one this spring. I will keep it in here for a little but sometime next summer I will be building a 12x16 powered and climatized shed and I will move the bike and all of my metal working tools into the shed.

Not sure what I'm going to do long-term with the cabin. It's in really good shape structurally. It's just not very comfortable due to no insulation at all. The inside is way cool, all wall studs, rafters, and floor joists are made from small doug fir logs that were cut from the property, debarked and then put up. Walls and roof exposed from the inside, then a layer of 1x12 rough sawn cedar, a layer of tar paper, then doug fir board and batten siding.

I love checking out everyone's set ups. Pretty sweet!!! I created a thread while I built my shop back in 2015 out here in Oregon. It's a long one but lots of pics during and after construction.

My little set up, no electric but plenty of battery powered lights, no heat but got a propane heater buddy, will get it to 90 degrees in no time. Need a separate one for work and one for dirtbike stuff though

Those look decent. You buy the $64 singles or $115 doubles ?

Where the bikes live. 10x20 shop behind the house for all the non-pretty things like lawnmowers, kayak, press, etc.

I’m getting ready to insulate and finish the inside this winter. It will have a car and a motorcycle lift, paint booth, and bathroom. Heat and A/C.

Here is my humble little setup. While it isn't entirely complete I am pretty happy with where it is now after being in the house for a few months. Being a first time home owner I really enjoyed having the freedom to be able to set up my own little shop to fiddle with my and my GF's bikes and store some memorabilia.

Anyone made anything cool garage related out of old pallets? Every time I toss them at work I try and think of something cool I could build with them that would be useful in the garage.

I’ve made oil/aerosol can holders. They actually work out really well size wise with only cutting the length needed/wanted. I have a bicycle stand I made too, just ripped a pallet in half and added a couple pieces to set the front tires in and hold upright. Built a bike stand, but used 2x4’s inside for the strength. I have the pallet wall done in the corner portion of my garage, but otherwise like you I just think of stuff but never build it.

My suggestion... If you think of something, build it. If it doesn’t work you’re only out a little time ripping pallets apart. Would love to see what you or others think of or have done.
