Here’s a twist to the whole story. I originally talked to Varner about doing a big bore with this CR125 and he convinced me 134cc’s was the way to go. That’s what I was expecting to receive. What I got was not a 134cc bored cylinder or piston, I got a 144cc. Not to mention, the piston had Eric Gorr etching on it. Now I haven’t talked with Varner since he sent me my tracking number for this package nor do I really want to ever again now this nightmare is over, but it really makes me curious if he actually did the work or if it’s an Eric Gorr cylinder/piston. I would honestly assume he just got the piston from him. But nonetheless, I was definitely not expecting to get a 144cc set up when he originally talked it down so bad and said the 134cc was the way to go. Either way, I’ll just run it and I can officially say my Varner days are over.
I took a quick photo of the package when it arrived, I’ll take more when I’m back off work shift and show the work that was done.
If you had gone 134, it would have probably been an off the shelf 2mm bigger piston from wiseco.
You might need to clearance your cases to fit the piston.
144s are great bikes and will rev to the moon if ported property. Them not revving a bit of a myth from years ago when there was a 139 kit with a really expensive proprietary piston a few people wanted to market and hype.
Then I texted him. He asked who is this? That he'd had phone damage and lost all his contacts.
Also-- just got my 2008 RM250 top end back from Tom Morgan. Im a 61 yo fast intermediate/slow Expert but wanted the "snappy hit " taken away with the power spread out in a more easy to use fashion. He did head mods, port work and did a 265cc kit ----and it was 17 days from ship out to back to my office.
cmotodad--- My guess is Varner bought the entire 144 kit from Eric, since EG has them on stock and swaps out when you send him the core pieces. And if that's the case, at least Kowalczyk got his top end back and is going to love it, since I have never ridden a Gorr 144 that I wasn't impressed with.
Just had another one built by Millenium for a friend & it uses same piston. It took about 4 weeks total including shipping & the work looks excellent. Only issue was they sent incorrect gaskets but immediately took responsibility and sent out a new kit...We will see how it runs soon...
Pit Row
Usd in september 2019. I also paid 1850 usd up front. My bike is without an engine and hopefully someone could help me out getting my parts/engine back. I live in Norway so i cant just stop by. I have used Terry before and he did great work, please heøp me out - Thanks Erlend
I can't help much other than (I'm in S/Africa) the text I sent him asking that he communicate with you guys and to expidite those motors etc.
The fact is that he is getting old and probably has slowed down with the health issues and should be taking on less work in order to get said work shipped back on time.
Disappointing and unethical.
