Interesting for sure, last shot at a 250 SX title. He has everything in place to make it happen but it's down to him to finish the job. Great starts, fast enough and one of the best teams/bikes.

One more interesting thing is that he's older than probably most think, he would actually age out of MX2 after 2021 if he would be a GP rider.

He’s a young person still learning his way and under a microscope. I’m sure we all have shit in our early 20s that we would like to take back. I always find it so odd that people get so fired up about the personalities of super young adults and sometimes kids who often time go right from homeschooling to being on television. Everyone here acts like they were born humble. It happens by getting humbled when you do dumb things as you age. People used to say the same about CR22 when he was young and abrasive and now he’s a huge fan favorite. Give these kids time to learn and grow.

I’m seriously not a fan of his and in fact wasn’t rooting for him at SLC, but I think it’s easy to become a target for hate when you’re the fastest guy on Mitch Payton’s team, dating a monster chick. That’s literally every dork on here’s wet dream hence 95% of the hate thrown his way is rooted in jealousy.
A young Reed certainly was cocky, but he definitely isn’t comparable to Forkner.
That cockiness was the attitude of a champion, by Forkner’s age he’d left home, finished 2nd in the world title, dominated the East SX series and was busy giving the GOAT fits in the big boy class during his rookie season.
What has Forkner accomplished by comparison?

Austin needs to just ride his bike and put together top 5 finishes. Dont worry about winning, take the Dungy approach and just be consistent.

I really hope he doesn't get in an "alpha dog battle" between him and Jett or him at J Mart.

Regardless of what happens next year. Is make it or brake it for him. I am expecting big battles between him and Jett next year in the West coast, championship is going to go to one of them.
I would not be surprised to see them not on the same coast.

If there is anyone who could benefit from a coach it is Forkner. He never seems to learn from his mistakes.
Hasn't he been working with Robbie Reynard for years? Robbie is one of the best coaches in the sport. Not sure what you're talking about.

At Salt Lake after the break he found speed and he was handling Dylan, the only time someone has done that to Dylan all year on a 250. His future is still bright. If he stays healthy he will be the one to beat next year, maybe the Jett if he makes a big jump otherwise Austin has the rest of the 250 class covered. If he and Jett were on Star Bikes in 2021 it would be a snooze fest IMO. Injuries not withstanding.

I think he’ll be like AC. This next season will be his year to kinda put it all together and grow off of that.

I think he needs to put a full season together with consistent top 5 finishes indoors and out. If he goes out there and crashes his brains out and takes himself out of the season for the 3rd consecutive year wont teams get a little gun shy about hiring him for the big boy class?

That’s exactly how I see it. Important year for him coming up. He has the speed now just work on showing up with consistency as well

I wasn’t comparing his career accomplishments. Just his personality and how people can turn the narrative around in their careers.

If I were KTM I would sign him as soon as possible. The kid has speed, he does need some maturity for sure. I think the Bakers factory would be able to provide that. He has a chip for sure, but so did Webb. Baker did wonders for Webb.

Life on the farm is what's next in my opinion unless he can change his attitude.

The logic behind my opinion on why I believe both will race in the West goes as follows:

1. Forkner is proven in SX with PC
2. If JMar goes to PC, he needs time to adjust so racing east gives him that
3. Geico team folded. Assuming both Lawrence brothers end with HRC, that leaves one brother for each coast, and Hunter might get his shoulder repaired, meaning Jett is the one healthy and ready to go (assuming SX resumes in January).

Confidence is a great thing for a young rider to have.

Look at some of the fastest guys, or guys who have come up through Lorettas the hard way...most are pretty humble, but they are confident of their abilities. Most Missouri locals that have been around him in his younger years racing in the Midwest coming into his own have commented on Forkner's cockiness & his inability to watch his mouth.

In my opinion, this place in Austin's life might just provide the shot of humility that he needs.

Not the worst. Lots of wins, making money and will improve mentally with maturity. Some are able to come in and get it done immediately. Others take a few years to figure it and themselves out.

AF & Jett on the same coast would be absolutely amazing.

Agree 100%, I think next year we see Jett take it up to a contender level and get some wins but still making mistakes at times. I think next year as well, Justin Cooper is going to be Star's main guy, so he will most likely run west as well, do we see him take it up a notch to Austin's raw speed?

Those 3 guys on the same coast, would be exciting to watch, if all 3 of them get their bikes ready to go, no practice/off season injuries, they will race each other hard. Forkner has to get his new bike ready, the Honda 250 base bike is the same, and the base yz250f is a little different for 21. All very exciting. Hopefully that SX will run, I do realize football going is nice BUT SX isnt football.
