If he does come out of retirement, I would imagine it would be because he needs money. How would Honda pay for him, Roczen, and Sexton? I'd love to see it, the why just isn't making sense to me yet.
No, the strongest desire within the human psyche is the desire to be great and the feeling of importance. Ryan's success within this sport is what made him great and now he doesn't have it. It's the same reason Reed and a lot of athletes can't just retire. This situation is just that simple.

If he does, I hope it is on a third bike instead of taking a seat from a current rider.

0% chance he takes Roczen's or Sexton's spot.

Just imagine Roczen retires from racing and Dungey coming fill-in for 2021?

That's what a baby does, makes you look for reasons to spend a little more time out of the house. I hope he settles down and takes his deserved time off, maybe find something a little less demanding than supercross. It'll get better when that baby gets a little older. But hey if it's his desire to come back racing, i'll be cheering him on. He was a great asset to this sport.

That's my thinking. Being a parent of a newborn or a young child can be a real grind. For a lot of Dads, like myself, work became my only escape and I was expected to be home the rest of the time. I started feeling like work was an escape, and Dungey didn't have that. I imagine it's even harder when you were a famous dirt bike racer to find yourself doing mostly domestic stuff- this is just a theory though, I really have no idea.

No chance. Maybe the triple crown like RV to see where he's at, but I strongly believe we are done seeing Dungey race pro.

If he wants to come back and race, more power to him. It's been 20 years since I've been able to ride yet here I am everyday on a motocross forum and would give anything to ride again. The fire never burns out.

As already eluded to, Kenny missing the 2021 supercross season is the buried lead, but not surprising after skipping the nationals.
Could Dungey bring in Target to replace Geico??

Really hope KROC takes some necessary time off, but comes back stronger than ever in 2021 Outdoors. 2021 Supercross may be up in the air with scheduling, Covid restrictions/regulations, but I'd love nothing more than to see him come back like 2016 Roczen once they take it outside again...

I don't think Dungey wants anything to do with Grondahl's team, but the bullseye would look good on the 450 team.

Gotta love some vital users incongruency. Tomac has a child, wins his first ever SX championship, struggling in the Outdoor season (but still racing and wining motos), while enjoying his new family: "He is done"

Roczen, skips the whole outdoors season to recover from mistery illness, spend time with his soon to be new child, rumors about 2021 SX season to be missed: "He will come back stronger to claim 2022 championship"

Makes me wonder just how badly his investment in Geico Honda worked out.

He'll be 31 by the start of the season, but I'd love to see Dungey give it a go. Dungey is one of my favorites, and I know he could still run up front. But like others have said: I will believe it when I see it.
