A few that come to mind:

Savior by Rise Against - Not necessary a terrible song but they have sooo many better ones with incredible lyrics that I can’t believe this is the one that keeps getting played over and over again. I like their early and recent work for different reasons, but for some reason this song just seems bland compared to most of their lesser known stuff.

Pretty Fly by The Offspring - I freaking hate this song, they have so many bad ass songs I don’t know how the hell this one ever caught on

21st Century Digital Boy by Bad Religion - Really never liked this song much and it’s almost insulting to such a great band for this to be one of their best known IMO. Like above, there’s sooo many incredible songs by these guys that just get lost in the shuffle.

Not at all what I had in mind, but my initial post, then my clarification were terrible, so carry on, I like what this turned into.

Grateful Dead Touch of Grey, Truckin' and Casey Jones. They have way better songs but there's a whole bunch of people who don't like them based off those 3 songs, because it's all they ever heard.

Blind Melon, love em. Including No Rain, saw them 3 times, I was excited to see them the first time when I found out they had a support slot with G'n'R, but they didn't sound great, then saw them at Glastonbury and they were brilliant and the 3rd time supporting Lenny Kravitz and they were great again. My conclusion was that with G'n'R they were deliberately mixed shit so as not to out do the main act.

The common denominator connecting most of these songs is how many plays they got at the time or continue to get on radio or MTV type channels.

I live in Glastonbury Smile ( australia ) I saw them as support for GNR in ( Shannon did. backing vocals for GNR don’t cry )1992 Shannon lost a bet over $10 and went on stage naked With just a Vikings hat and a tray full of pizza for duff slash n Matt was funny as fuck they did a wicked show that night I’d never heard of them before that was a fan for life after......
If he didn’t overdose I think they would have been huge they were going places.

That’s ok. I had a stripper put my cigarette out with her cooter to Pour Some Sugar on me. I was very drunk. She went to squat on my lap and I guess she didn’t see the cigarette I was holding. Yes, the blood curdling scream was hilarious and I got kicked outta the club. Damn, being 22 was fun.

Time flies a little too fast. Nothing like raising hell and getting kicked outta strip clubs. My friends and I would see who could kicked out the fastest.
Wanna piss people off? Put a $ 20 bill in the stage. Guaranteed to get the dancer on your side of the stage and piss all the other guys off. Not that I care about strippers but, it was fun seeing how angry I could make people.

Rise Against is a incredible band, that have been putting out great music for a long time. You'd never know it by the singles that get air play. "Ball and Chain" and "Ring of Fire" (cover I know) by Social Distortion. If someone tells me they dont like Social D, Im certain its because of these 2 songs.

Agreed on Social D as well, phenomenal band that gets screwed by their “hits”.

It’s funny, I was middle school age when RA put out SATW and were really hitting their stride, at the time I didn’t really know what punk rock was or what it meant but I liked it. Fast forward a few years to when I was in high school and Endgame came out, after that I was hooked. Obviously I didn’t fully grasp their lyrics at first or really understand the songs for what they were, but now that I’ve gotten older and lived a little they all make so much more sense and have so much more meaning to me. It’s almost like an old familiar sound, no matter how shitty things get or how great they go I feel like I have their stuff to turn to and their range is so broad there’s a song out there for pretty much anything.

Am I really the first to say "Freebird"?
How about "Hold on loosely"?
And last but not least "Pour some sugar on me".

“You Shook Me All Night Long”. I love AC/DC, really gaining an appreciation on the release of “Highway to Hell”. “Back in Black” was a bit of a letdown, with a few highlights, but “YSMANL” just never registered on any level.
