I've thinking about this for some time now.

I always want something else, that what I am currently riding. First I had a 125, but badly wanted a 4-stroke. I then got a 250f, but after riding it a little while, i caught myself wanting a larger 2-stroke. So I got an MX300, and here I am, wanting a different bike again.

How people stay with a bike for years I don't understand, what's wrong with me? 😂

Same here.
Had a yz125, wanted a 250f.
Owned 3 different 250f (all kawi) in 3 years.
During quarantine i bought a 01 kx 125.
Now i want to sell my 19 250f to get a new SX/TC 250 2 stroke to ride.

Guess i'm like a little kid, once i got the toy in my hands, i don't like it anymore.
Ahahah

I totally understand. I ride a KX 450. But about 3 years ago I decided I wanted a 125 as a second bike. I bought a pretty nice 15 Husky 125. Had FC do the suspension and added a few goodies to it.

About 5 months after that a local kid I know was wanting a 125 and was asking me to sell it to him, so I did.
Then a couple months later I bought a 16 KTM 125sx and did the same thing. Loved the bike but decided I didn't ride it enough and sold it last summer.

Fast forward to February of this year. The kid that bought my Husky 125 moved up to a new KX 250 and was selling the 125. Although a bit worn out I bought it back and rebuilt it. So now I have a 125 again. Wtf am I thinking?

Oh, and I can't blame it on being young and dumb, I'm 63 for gods sake! lol

I think that mentality is great when you are totally willing to buy the new bikes every year or 2 (like I have for most of my life.) But now I am starting to realize that for Vet racing and track days, it is just a waste of money. So I am stuck in the middle of just enjoying /modding what I have and still wanting a new bike. I liked it better when I saw a new bike that I liked and just bought it w/o thinking twice lol.

Multiple bikes help a LOT with that problem. I go out to the barn and look at mine and think... "Okay, which one do I want to ride today?" I've been riding the KX250F a lot lately, but when we go to the track I always take both it and the TC 125 and have fun on both. Enduro, off-road, play riding is always the KTM and I don't have much MAS (Motorcycle Acquisition Syndrome) there, although I _do_ Jones for a 250 XC once in awhile.

Not me. As soon as I buy a new bike I suddenly realize that I still get beat by a 17 year old. I would rather have new tires and A kit suspension then loose 5 lbs.

I scratch my throat from time to time thinking about this same problem.

When I had more than one street bike I always felt bad for the one I wasn’t riding.

I've been like this before. For me it's because every bike does something better and worse than the one coming after or before it.

I've had multiple bikes in the garage, jumping from one to another doesn't work for me, I get in tune with one and it works best to stick with it. Maybe if I could ride twice a week, having different bikes would not be that bad, not being able to ride for weeks at a time, I just stick with one bike.

In cycling, to determine the correct number of bikes that would fulfill your life we use the formula "n+1" where n=the number of bikes you currently own. Alternatively you can use s-1 where s=the number of bikes owned that would result in separation from your partner

I know what you mean ....I REALLY REALLY want a matching 2003 KX125 to go with my 2003 KX250. I was so close to getting one and the story of what this idiot did is heartbreaking....complete lack of seller etiquette selling it to a random person after a weeks worth of messaging, confirming and trying to set up a time for me to come get it. Some dude randomly messages him the day of bec he was in the area and wanted to come "look at it" meanwhilebim only 15mins away and he sells it to this random guy after all the time and effort I put into lining it up. I'm still so pissed!

I have a "list" of bikes I have to own:
2003 KX125
89-04 KX500
2001-2006 RM250
2002-2007 CR250
1999-Current YZ250
1993-1996 CR250
1996-1998 KX250
Any decent 2005-up 450 for the occasional offroad and big hillclimbs at Carnegie

But with the RIDICULOUS prices people are currently asking for their older 2 strokes, my dream lineup is fleeting 😡

The best program is to never sell one. Just keep adding. I can't say I miss every bike I ever sold, but I have a few that I really miss.

Length I have had my bikes:
1st: 3 years
2nd: 3 years
3rd: 2 years
4th: 4 years
5th: 11 years
6th: @ 1.5 years currently

There's been the occasional 2nd bike in there, but these are the durations of my main bikes.

I think it's in our human nature to always want to change! I've fell into that trap in the past to a degree, but now I'm happy with only one bike...for now. How long that lasts is beyond me though...whenever I see a 250 2-stroke ripping it makes me want to change. But then I must just tell myself that I moved away from that bike for good reason too! You can never win!!
