Even Herlings himself says that when Tomac is on he doesn’t think he can beat Tomac. That says a lot coming from Herlings.

That just says to me that he's grown up now and showing class.

Tomac thinks he can beat Herlings and Herlings thinks he can beat Tomac, no doubt in my mind. I'm a fan of any rider that shows respect towards his competitors.

If that's what you are hanging your hat on, you could change it to "any night" then...…..

Herlings has already been hurt way too much to even consider SX. He is smarter than that.

Nice story bro. But is Herlings racing the ironman national again? That's the question I'd like to know the answer to.

I like Tomac, but I think Herlings beat him already. On any given day the results could go either way.

They are both the baddest of the bad.
IMO in a full series, Herlings would win in Europe, and Tomac would win in the US.
But either could win on any given day.
All i know is it would be great to see (even though we wont) and most of all, they are both incredible riders.

Im a tomac fan, but i dont think herlings has any trouble with tomac outdoors. we should all be so lucky to have him race in the USA a few times.

Didn’t Eli split motos with him at WW? Either way, two bad dudes!

Please don’t turn this into a shitty thread

Yep, and although Herlings wasn't in the class yet, Tomac beat the brakes off of everyone 4 GP races in a row back in 2016. At Glen Helen he was 3 seconds a lap faster than Cairoli and Gasjer!!

We haven't seen them go head to head enough to say who's the best, but I think Tomac's outdoor consistency and Herlings tendency to get hurt would play in Eli's favor over several full seasons.

Soooo much talent between the two of them, and there seems to be a lot of mutual respect between them too.

Any chance of this thread not turning into anything other than that?

Nevermind, to late........

.....Tomac‘s my guy but man I like Herlings too!

I think Herlings point is that on any given day, they are both talented enough to win. I tend to agree. Who would win over a series? We will likely never know, but outdoors I'd give the edge to Herlings.

Imagine if Herlings and Gasser warmed up for the MXGP season by racing Ironman and WW Ranch this summer.

To be fair they’ve lined up on the gate together 8 times, so they’ve raced each other quite a few times

I honestly hope to see Herlings in the first couple of nationals. That would be a good benchmark to see who is on top of the two. I assume Eli wants to beat Jeffrey as much as Herlings wants to beat Herlings, for us fans it couldn't be better.
