Pumped he made the broadcast!

I had rhabdomyosarcoma when I was 8 and SX/MX got me through many days in the hospital and I hope in some way it can help you guys as well. Take care and best wishes.

So awesome!!! Thank you to everyone who made it happen on here and thank you RC, Ralph, Daniel, and everyone involved. We were able to watch it live on NBC Sports but the Gold app is giving us issues in the hospital for some reason. Any chance someone could rip a video clip for me? You guys are the BEST!!!

Its 1:34 in.
Edit I was late. 🙂
Getting a late start on watching the race, I went to 1:34 on Gold and didn’t see it, it was 450 Heat 1. Where’s it at in the program?

It really hit home when we heard about your son on the broadcast.

Our 16 year old son Ethan Hughes was diagnosed with leukemia in 2018. He went through treatment at Texas Childrens Hospital and could see NRG Stadium, where SX is hosted in Houston, from his hospital room.

Ethan was diagnosed just a few weeks after he won a couple of Loretta Lynn Regional moto's and was unable to go to the national.

After 9 months of weekly chemo he is now in the maintenance phase of treatment for the next two years. He is in remission and rode his dirt bike for the first time in 602 days just a few weeks ago.

When we saw the story of your son, it really touched our hearts. We will pray for him and your family during this time. Ethan's faith in God was a pillar of strength during his fight and is still a huge part of his life.

Feel free to call or email anytime.

Was hoping to see Daniel give a shout out to Collins cardboard picture in the stands that the Vital guys bought this week , was awesome to see the broadcast booth introduce their new friend instead.

That is AWESOME that Ethan is doing so well! I'm going to tell Collin his story because I think he'll really relate to how similar the two situations are. Having Ethan get that terrible news after an achievement like winning motos at Loretta Lynn's Regionals to earn his way to the ranch had to make it extra tough on him. Give Ethan our best and I'm pumped that he was able to go riding after going through so much and after so much time away. That had to feel like such a victory for all of you! Hearing about Ethan kicking butt gives me such a boost! Thank you Larry. I may take you up on the offer to chat sometime. You've been where I am and I'm finding talking to fellow parents does me a lot of good. Thank you!

Just came across this thread right now and wow it has the feels. Would it be ok with you if I send your lil man some die cast moto toys? Or is there anything you guys need? How about for Mom and Dad, you guys need anything? Don’t hesitate to ask! Hopin this is all in the rear view soon for you guys.

Man Collin would LOVE that! I feel like I have to keep saying that I don't want anyone to feel obligated to send anything because I'm one of those guys who was raised to never ask for anything. But in this situation it's not about me or some dumb ingrained "pride." It's all about keeping my son happy and his spirits up through all of this and you guys, through words, pictures, and actions have really helped us do that. As for my wife and I, we're lucky to be so supported by friends and family. I think we're as good as anyone can be in a situation like this. At least right now. But it's all day by day I guess. She's been so unbelievably strong for Collin and never lets her fear or worry show through in front of him. I'm just doing my best. Thank you for offering to help out though!
This thread shows how many decent and supportive people are on this forum. Don’t think of it as your pride and putting people out. Think of it as brothers, sisters, cousins, uncles, moto family members showing a little one love. Also having an interests in moto makes it that much better. I’ll PM you in the morning. I have a 4am start and it’s past my bedtime lol. Hang in there.

Totally ball busting read. Very cool to see the troops rally together with a common interest.

Prayers of strength and healing for you and yours.

My 4 year old son Vincent (and my wife) made Collin a card this morning and will be mailing it out . Vincent had his own bout with surgery and the NICU as a new born, and that was beyond difficult. He’s healthy and recovered, and we know Collin will be as well. Our thoughts and prayers are with your family as you beat this thing. Vincent wants Collin to know he will be better soon because he’s “tough like a monster truck.”

Hey Collin you asked where all the fireworks are, well here you go buddy this is for you!
Your dad tells me you're going to be 6 years old soon (27th) which is how old I was when I first went to my very first supercross. I'll never forget the pyrotechnics, lasers, and of course the awesome voice doing the rider intro's David Lee ( Olejniczak ) and due to this covid 19 virus it might be awhile before any of us get to hear or see that again.

Until then my friend, just watch this video! Happy 6th birthday and congrats on passing your third covid 19 test that's really awesome, looking forward to hearing more of your future updates... Kyle
