The Maeda's are certainly not above any rules, but they do deserve a certain amount of respect for what they have done for SX/MX. If Donn wants to interview someone in a Truck without a mask right now and get his hard card pulled for the night, so be it. I wouldn't crucify the guy for it! Journalists have done worse for better coverage. I consider Donn an OG. From his cycle news days on up through TWMX and now SwapMoto, his contributions over the past couple decades speak for them self.

I've never met the guy. Just speaking my 2 cents. I applaud him though, the coverage as a fan sucks balls right now with these restrictions and (questionably effective) rules.
So it’s ok to want to hit high exposure area’s for self entertainment and then go interview a bunch of riders with zero respect to the rules put in place, not by Feld but the Utah Sports Commission? But it’s ok because he’s been around the sport for a while? Should be the complete other way around, he should be setting the example...

You aren't wrong. Is it okay? I would say not.

But the difference maker here would be my stance on COVID exposure and the rules in place to keep everyone 'safe' and compliant. I think the majority of the rules in place at this time are ineffective and unnecessary. Again, you break the rules, you get the boot. I've got no problem with rule enforcement. I just think a lot of these rules are stupid and I really don't find what Donn may have done to be much of anything at all.

While I respect your opinion, I believe he put a lot on the line, the biggest being a lack of respect for the riders safety, given the zero tolerance for positive tests of Covid-19. And it shows zero respect to all the efforts put in to make the races happen again.

So the Utah Sports Comission has more “authority” than the local government is all that is being said...

Protesters are breaking the rules all day every day, and night!

Sad that the local authorites can’t even enforce the curfew but hey the USC got Donn

Maybe the USC is what we need enforcing the rules world wide

On a pulp podcast. Said he was all ready to go but Anton didn’t want to go, so he decided to stay in.

There was a bit of sarcasm in there and some of it is laughable. I have spoke with Donn a couple of times but we are not “friends”

You’re 100 percent correct. But your comment is just as ignorant as his actions...

Did someone actually say that?

I’d take Swap over Anton any day.

I’ve been around Donn on and off since about 2002, and he has never been anything but a great person to me, I even got to ride a couple of his bikes a few times.

I can’t listen to his stuff anymore. The audio on his podcasts suck. I find myself always having to adjust the volume because his guests level is way higher but can barely hear him. Gets frustrating. And his voice is gravelly, annoying. Nowhere near the level of professionalism as Matthes/Pulp/RacerX.

This thread is hilarious. We wanna race our dirt bikes. So Utah says come on down, but you gotta wear a mask and follow some protocols. But dirt bikers are rebels, individualists, no one tells us what to do, so no masks and protocols for us. Priceless

Maybe some of you would be more comfortable joining a Harley Davidson riding club.Or better yet, just go lone wolf.

i get the rules and try to follow the best I can and not arguing to say he shouldn’t have his credentials pulled.

that being said, they were all tested prior to access to the racing forum. If the assumption is that they all tested negative, what’s with the masks in an open air stadium with far more than 6 feet distance... healthy people can’t get healthy people sick. CDC guidelines while at HPCON C which is what we are at states that masks are to be worn if, IF, 6 feet distance can’t be maintained in an enclosed environment.

I believe it’s a bit silly at this point... but if thems the rules at SLC then thems the rules and if you can’t follow them then go home Don!

I don't get why this is so hard to understand

Supercross was stopped for 7 weeks, or whatever it was, and we weren't even sure it'd start back up again.

Feld was able to work a deal, through the Utah Sports Commission to finish up the races at Rice-Eccles stadium with some specific rules and needs.

Doesn't matter if you like them or not, everyone going in knew those rules.

The rules were violated, the violator sent home.

That's it!

Swap was DQ'd. He broke the rules. He ran a big bore in the pits, got protested and was sent home...simple as that.

It really is.

I like Swap, he's always been nice to me. I advertise on Swapmoto. It's a bummer this happened. I assume Anton is in the clear, he'll get the job done.

In the People’s Republic of the Bay Area they literally put out a press release saying that protests of up to 100 people were perfectly legal, but any other outdoor gathering needed to be limited to I believe 20 or less. You want to talk about politics getting in the way of sense. . .

The thing with Covid is that there is a lot we still don’t know. Why do some people just loose taste and smell while others die? We are starting to see some pretty bad long term effects on the lungs of those that get it as well. Until we figure everything out, it’s best to play it safe. Is it really such a tough thing to wear a mask?

Ok, on having to wear a mask, since you asked if it was that hard.
There are plenty of reports coming out that say it is NOT HEALTHY to wear a mask for extended periods of time. I’m not too excited about them and it concerns me that some people are being required to wear them all day at their jobs. I’m getting ready to return to work and we are all going to be required to wear them, if we want to return to work. I’m really not ok with it, but I will have to comply, if I want to return to my job.

That being said... Utah made a deal with Feld to finish the SX series and wearing a mask was part of it. I’d guess that the majority of riders/ mechanics/ team members/ flaggers/ etc. would not be wearing one if they didn’t have to. After all... they were all tested already, so it should be a safe environment for all. But, everyone was well informed about the masks and agreed to wear them. So if Swap crosses the line, he lost his privileges to be involved. It’s pretty simple....
