We're an order of magnitude under their best case estimates here in CA and this is absolutely not killing people at "an alarming rate". We can argue all day about what should be considered "alarming", but the bottom line is the vast majority of hospitals are ghost towns right now and this has not at all developed into what was initially feared. Eventually this is going to have to run its course and a relaxing of restrictions is the only thing that makes sense to do at this point, and if the powers that be just keep tightening the screw then their true colors are going to show pretty quickly. I understand the overreaction based on the flawed spread models that first came out, but after a period of time real life data is going to need to guide us in the proper direction, not just experimental theory. We've proven that the measures we've taken have been overly effective, it's time to strike a balance reopening outdoor recreation areas should be step #1.
Hospitals are ghost towns because quarantine and social distancing is working. It's supposed to feel like we did it all for nothing, that means it worked. Too bad that some people are just too simple minded to get that through their head.

This...

It’s not even worth arguing over at this point, the numbers and the actions taken recently simply do not add up.

You’re not reading (or not comprehending) what I’m saying. We can’t keep this up forever, eventually a balance needs to be struck and it’s clear we’ve overshot the mark.

What’s your plan for the future here, just keep this up for a year or more until a vaccine comes out? Does that really seem reasonable or feasible to implement to you? All I’m saying is we need to come to a common sense balance that makes sense based on the numbers we’re seeing. Right now we’re seeing extremely low numbers and that would lead a rational person to conclude that we can relax restrictions a bit. That’s all I’m saying, I can’t even begin to understand what it controversial about that or how anyone can disagree, I’m not saying go full bore and open everything up but saying people cannot ride their motorcycles or hit the skatepark is bullshit plain and simple.

They’re ghost towns because people are afraid to go to the hospital for anything because of fear of catching it. Even if they have the virus, unless they’re at deaths door there’s nothing really they can do. My wife is an ICU nurse and it’s been very quite each night she has worked the past month. Not everywhere in this nation is NYC.

5,600 Americans died of Covid-19 in the past 24 hours.

It’s not fake news. It’s not a deep state conspiracy. It’s not political. This is still a serious problem.

I agree but I don’t see the problem with riding. Should we all stop driving cars? Running? Eating salty foods? I never crashed last season and put 50 hours on my bike. I can go cruise around and have some fun and have zero risk of spreading or catching covid.

I took the conversation regarding riding versus not seriously and, particularly given that we appear to have not overloaded the hospitals due to social distancing, the small number of riders going to the ER is acceptable.

Did you make the same argument on 9/11? No, because it’s gross. Stop.

Your appeal to authority is cute but your opinion is just that opinion and ypur argument is a fallacy.

There are virologist and epidemiologists who think your opinion is crap as well.

There is no estsblished evidence at all for what you claim either. We won't know jack shit statistically for years about this mess, possibly never because of the bullshit everyone is pulling with the numbers. Not to mention the fucking "models" were so wrong it borders on criminal.

I'm also tired of doctors condescending to others as though they are the only arbitors of information. We all understand how to access information and how to understand it. I don't need your speculation.

I hate to break it to you but y'all are just as guilty of bias as anyone and education is not a replacement for or an indicator of wisdom.

Lastly, the medical community is guilty of more deaths per year than the flu and Wuhan combined so spare me your arrogance. You all kill a lot of people every year from malpractice and still act like your shit don't stink, so save your pomposity for someone else.

People die of smoking or obesity due to their own life decisions, how does that have anything to do with the discussion of contagious disease? Also, what the fuck is a phuck?

They’re ghost towns because people are afraid to go to the hospital for anything because of fear of catching it. Even if they have the virus, unless they’re at deaths door there’s nothing really they can do. My wife is an ICU nurse and it’s been very quite each night she has worked the past month. Im an ER nurse. Doc you know damn well you cannot go around opening using the "Q" word, nor the "S" one. Actually, this is the only time in my 10 years that it is okay to use those words.
We are staffed for about 250'ish visits a day. We down to less than a 100 everyday now. 70-80 seems about normal. Damn near all of them are Covid rule-out's. Im sick of ppe's!!

Well now since we're completely off topic lol.
I tested the SLOW and QUIET phenomenon a few times recently.
15 minutes before the change shift I said out loud ...Boy it sure would suck to get a traumatic full arrest right now ..15 minutes before the end of shift.
Only my friends understood my twisted sense of ER humor. Needless to say... We never got that call.

Yep..
I'm completely sick and tired of my paranoid hysterical neighbors coming to me asking me if I can give them an N95 mask....

A. STOP watching the news.
B. STOP watching the news.
C. Both A and B.

This is not meant for an argument for either side mainly cause I'm bored with all the same points and arguments..

But we are at a strange time in society when it's seen as a bad thing that hospitals are quiet haha..
In it's truest sense shouldn't that be a good thing?

(Yes of course I understand that people losing their jobs is bad)

The answer has to be somewhere in the middle. I've yet to see any news stories of essential workers dropping like flies. Ultimately I feel like people need to be responsible for themselves. I completely understand anyone who decides to lock themselves in their house, it's a free country.

As for myself? I'm watering, we're open...

You know, not that it really matters what I think, but you're right. I'm no expert, I'd just rather we be cautious than regretful. It's just a really delicate balance that'd I hate to actually being in charge of. My hats off to the governor's dealing with this, gotta unimaginably stressful.

And what if you're wrong and opening up kicks off another outbreak and run of fresh cases and deaths? Then what? Close up shop again for another couple of months? You only need one covid carrier on plane to infect a whole bunch. Then those infect another larger number and so on. Take your medicine and get over it once and for all.
I guarantee the USA will see a jump in new cases with all those getting out and about now because it's their right to.

I agree 100%, all of them as well as our president have a very fine line to walk and I don’t envy any of them. It’s a damned if you do damned if you don’t scenario, we need to find the right balance of consistent, manageable exposure that provides enough economic stimulation that we’re not killing even more people due to poverty and suicide, but doesn’t overwhelm the healthcare system. You want to talk about a horrible job, that’s got to take the cake right now.

I am in a position to listen in to the governors update briefing daily here in southern Nevada which is Clark county and includes Vegas, yesterday they reported all hospitals are full of PPE, have 100% capacity for any medical emergencies... average wait time at ERs is less than a minute!!!!!

The state of Nevada has over 850 national guard soldiers on federal orders after receiving 35 million in federal funding in order to assist in the “crisis.” I currently have ten soldiers at the Dept Emergency Management warehouse That supplies the southhern nevada health district... it has 5 pallets in it of masks and PPE that has not been distributed because there isn’t a need or request from the hospitals.... only fire police and EMT... the soldiers play cards all day sitting on their butts!

I do have 200 soldiers at the homeless center that was built with three large tents, full medical team, full decontamination showers including delicing with clean clothes. The soldiers are providing “security” and general labor in order to hand out linens, decon showers and surfaces, check temperatures all for the 10 homeless with one that has tested positive for SARS COV-2... which is sad but he is chillin in his bunk and pretty much asymptomatic.

I am not sure why I typed all this out or if it matters at all to anyone ....all I know is something just doesn’t sit well with me on this as I have an inherent distrust of authority. Also there is just something about this Fauci guy I don’t like And I don’t believe... we went from 2.5mil Projected deaths to 60000 in the span of 3 weeks? Really?!?

I don’t Know ... eff it I’m going riding tomorrow!

What does "overly effective" mean?
