I love electric start but I stopped buying KTM's 300 xc after 2015 because I believe that was the last year for kickstarter back up.........I never liked riding 3 hours from civilization in colorado with only electric start......Now I think you can retrofit them if you want....Time for a fresh one????

Falcon- Are you forgetting about the kickstart return/ratchet ring system with the large steel spring? Also the idler gear? Not to mention the larger casting in the cases to hold said kickstart assembly. Take a look at how small the cases are on modern e-start bikes. I agree a kickstart bike would probably be lighter....but it would be negligible.

I've never looked closely, but what do the e-start bikes do to prevent the engine from turning the starter motor when the engine is running? There has to be some kind of physical disconnect, right? Time to break out the exploded drawings, I guess.
