This popped up in my recommended feed today on YouTube.
It's really funny looking back into something so bizarre.

I am a bit confused, wasnt the laser incident way back in 2013? And yet this argument is pretty recent as Smartop did not sponsor the team until 2018...was hard to make out exactly what this was about apart from the swearing and physical threatening ....clearly I have missed something? lol

this is a video of the day of laser gate, not the Alessi's finest hour,

but the following PulpMX show is an all time classic, Crazy Tony at his best,

This is the lasergate, video upload date was 2013. If i remember correctly Smarttop/MCR and now Bullfrog Spas is all owned by Mike Genova or he has some big part to play in them all so theyve always veen on board, but Bullfrog Spas is the most recent company to sponsor the team.

This place almost exploded when that all went down. Lasergate had to be one of the longest threads ever.

This shit makes me love Matthes even more. Imagine having to put up with that, just to do your job.

The Pulp podcast was epic at the time and for quite a while after but listening to it recently it bummed me out.

I've never been a fan of Tony and frankly thought he was a jackass. One year I even had the opportunity to mess with Tony in a restricted area by following him to make him think I was listening and spying. The past couple years I've come around and realized that all he was doing is being fiercely loyal to his son which is commendable and what you want in a leader. He threw himself on a grenade to protect his idiot son Jeff. That same protective quality is making him one of the best team managers in the pits now.

Now I listen to the podcast and I hear someone that I've come to like and respect in their worst hour. Tony and Matthes get along good enough now that I'd really love to hear Tony co-hosting. Both parties get props for being able to see past that incident and go forward with a better relationship than ever.

I used to love when Tony would come on the pulp show since you’d never know how bad he would blow up. He made for great radio always overreacting and saying crazy things.

Now I like when Tony comes on the pulp show for different reasons. He brings great insight to his team and program. He sounds like a solid manager that any rider would be lucky to work with. He’s a smart guy.

Q. Why would you want to do that?

Basically to be a jackass...………

I didn't even notice it was him. I was close to him and we were the only two on pressbox level across from the pressbox at a SX and when I realized he had a headset on and was talking into it trying to be secretive I tried acting like I was spying. Wasn't a big deal I was just playing around a bit.

Halarious, first I’ve seen this video.

So these twits were fiercely denying the existence of a laser and threading to elbow Matthes in the face. Nekminut the idiot did indeed have a laser on his person was using it on riders at the gate. ???

It boggles the mind. What was in the water at the Alessi household.

Paging Jeff............
What are your thoughts years later?
I think it’s safe to assume that Jeff has regrets and he doesn’t need to be reminded of them for the rest of his life. We’ve all done dumb immature shit when we were young and fortunately most of us weren’t in the public spotlight so we aren’t continuously judged by strangers for our actions that took place a lifetime ago..

It was a dumbass thing to do.....but you are so right. It's laughable to see how people jump on the judgement bandwagon as if they've never done something stupid before.

Lynch mob mentality.

Mike and Jeff were two of the most fan friendly racers out there. I can't even begin to imagine the pressure cooker both of those kids were in when turning pro. I'm glad there weren't any cameras or national media focused on me when I was a teen...Shocked

It was not judgemental, i want to know his thoughts on the incident now that he is older and mature.
It's a legit question that only he was asked to comment on!

I think it's cool that both parties have put that all that behind them and are actually friendly now and can mutually benefit each other. This industry can have some long lasting small minded bitterness and axe grinding in it. Steve and Tony are both level headed enough to let this stuff go and do their jobs. Kudos.

No harm, no foul. My comment was not aimed at you....

Like Newmann said above....I'm glad cameras weren't on me as well. Even moreso, I'm glad cell phones were not around when I was young. (for MANY reasons other than photographic evidence)
