They laid off 90% of their employees that quickly. I dont care who the employer is i think that is terrible. It shows either poor management, greed, or both.
When the economy does come back, will they have enough money to restart, "business as usual"?
I have a farming background. 4 months out of the year we make money, 12 months out of the year we spend money. A storm at the wrong time will ruin those 4 months. This storm for Feld can ruin them, have to do what they have to do so they can come back when things get back on track. We still don't know if it'll get back on track this year. Can't continue to pay people and hope for the best, that's bad business.
Everyone commenting about their "profits" are just ignorant without any knowledge of their business/expenses/cost of goods sold. They are just assuming they make piles of cash and hoard it all from privateers who choose to race on their own dime.
How much cash do you think they have to continue to pay everyone with zero income? 1 month? 2 months? 6 months? None of us including Feld know how long this will last or how bad it will get. Do you want them to bankrupt?
I get that their business is largely affected by what is going on. I guess my initial reaction was 90% is an extremely high number, but with them being entertainers I can see that after putting more thought into it
Period.
Almost all of their staff works on the road at events. If there are no events, there is no income. You're closed.
Like the local restaurant down the street, no business due to quarantine, no income, you close doors.
Feld supposed to just pay people for an unknown amout of time, maybe months, as they sit at home doing nothing?
So the guy who skates in the dinosaur costume for Jurassic Park on Ice is to just stay home and Feld is to just keep paying them? What smart business is that?
You do realize Feld is likely losing millions of dollars a week or so, even as we sit here, because they pay for so much in advance, which is all now lost.
Feld is not the evil one here....
Surely they must have more then 100 FTE and so issue a 60 day WARN notice so the people laid off have a decent severance.
Does anyone know the law of bankruptcy or closing a company to avoid paying severance?
Pit Row
Many drug companies did this after the opioid verdicts, they stashed all the cash and then went bankrupt to avoid the fines.
Anyone remember Enron and Anderson consulting? Many employees showed up to find the offices were chained shut.
That is not the case here
... I'll take self-absorbed misanthropes for a thousand, Alex.
Did they actually lay off employees or were they “sub-contract labor”? Big difference
