Brayton vs. Anderson

Edited Date/Time 2/15/2020 3:19am
Listing to pulp episode 414 and apparently I missed an incident between the two of them. Sounds like Brayton punted Anderson. Anyone have any footage of this?

Probably payback for taking Brayton out at A1.

A month later?
Also the A1 incident was Braytons fault and I think he said that himself as well.

This goes back much longer then this season. JA has always raced JB super hard and left Brayton on the ground a lot over the years. Looks like JB finally had enough of it.

I was there in SD and saw the whole thing, I'm surprised I haven't seen any footage of it anywhere. So, Brayton gets bumped and ran off the track by Anderson in the 90 degree turn right after the second SX triple. Brayton then rides at a moderate pace off track alongside the long rhythm section and hops back onto the track right before the next 180 degree bowl turn before the first set of whoops, and absolute cleans out Anderson, who didn't see it coming at all. Surprised Brayton held her up how hard he hit him, it was pretty badass though. Woohoo

You could tell Brayton wasn't going to take anything from anyone especially being so close to the top 5 early on.

Seems weird they'd put Ferrandis on probation for making an aggressive move on track but do nothing to someone who cuts the track to purposefully take someone out.

EDIT:
After seeing the video, it’s not as bad as the written description or the way it was being explained made it seem. In my opinion, the actual block pass is aggressive but nothing too out of the ordinary, especially after what Anderson just did. I think there’s no problem with that. However, the way Brayton exits and reenters the track to set him up for that move makes it kinda sketchy.

Anderson’s first move was kamikaze-esque so I guess it all evens out...

That's awesome. The way he doubled onto the track and got him back right in the next corner
Seely and Baggett approve

So Brayton should just continue to let Anderson use him as a punching bag on the track?

They made it sound way worse than it actually was. Nothing compared to Ferrandis/Craig incident. Bike just got out from Anderson.

So Anderson makes a totally normal SX pass that dozens of riders each weekend do similar, to which Brayton then cuts the track, enters where he can purposely t-bone JA, causes a crash, and gets nothing?

AMA seriously sucks at rule enforcement.

Going off track and then coming back on like Brayton did is not cutting the track. He actually goes more distance going off track and then coming back on, then he would if he would have stayed on track the entire time.

While I agree with your sentiment regarding rule enforcement, I think calling Anderson's pass "a totally normal SX pass" is a stretch. He came in at an angle intending to use Brayton as a berm - which he did.

I'm cool with Brayton not being cool with that.

Live by the sword, die by the sword. This takeout looks way more dramatic because of the way the bike got yanked away from Anderson. JA21 not exactly a saint on the track, plus let's not forget a few years back he made a really bonehead pass on Brayton on the face of a triple. This was St Louis 2016 when JB was on BTO-KTM and to save you all the work here is Matthes discussing it in his "Observations" column (scroll down to rider summaries):

Good for JB10 to give it right back to Anderson, Anderson didn't need to take him that wide, he would've eventually passed him. Brayton's take out was slick, I hope Anderson felt some instant karma after that.

A totally normal pass hitting someone after a 90° turn on the take off of a jump?

If I were the rider that he cut in front of from off the track I would have punted him after he was done punting Ando.

I think that was beautiful. Anderson said "I love you" to Brayton. Brayton said "I love you MORE...much more".
