That they got good starts and Tomac didn’t..
Did you see how fast Tomac was coming through the pack? His corner speed! That could have been his main event win. He would have made the passes on those boys and won with ease. Coulda woulda shoulda I know,
but God he was sick.
But Starts are EVERYTHING this year.

Better watch out. Webb gonna go on a run now as we head East.

Webb and AC didn’t get lucky form the start, they got lucky because Barcia doesn’t race forwards and instead played dodgem cars and held up Tomac to the tune of about 6-8 seconds.

Roczen got a bad start as well...which is rare, but I agree that Tomac had great corner speed.

Not a Webb fan at all but with how he rode last week and with stalking and passing AC I'm afraid this season is all but over. His bad races are in the rearview mirror and he's about to go on a roll.

Tomac got lucky in St. Louis when AC crashed on the last lap (& something weird happened to Osborne) which allowed him to pick up two spots with half a lap to go. Tomac should've scored a 6th that night.

So good & bad luck comes & goes with all the riders.

The amount of luck spread around these riders is crazy. There is another thread that penned a rider who had been top 5 in all races as "lucky to be in top 5"

I mean, all these guys should probably quit riding and take up roulette or something, given all the luck that is being spread on the results sheet. Especially since it tends to be the same skilled, well-prepped dudes who are lucky repeatedly.

I tend to think luck has nothing to do with it considering Tomac's starts are historically quite bad

You mean Tomac's starts are historically quite unlucky...

but God he was sick.
But Starts are EVERYTHING this year.
Without even going into how stacked the 450s are this season and the fact Webb has the #1 plate, NOBODY gets on the podium in this sport by luck.

Much less a win.

Nope. The fact that other guys may be better at starting than Tomac is pure luck, there is no skill involved at all.

Webb seems to be luckiest guy. Not that hes given great starting gate but whoops are cut down by track crew and too soft se they get to jumpers every weekend.

Starts are always everything, unless all 22 riders got a good start

This focus on whoops is odd. If Webb is capable of winning everywhere else but the whoops, that means he is probably faster on other parts of the track. We aren't talking about where any body else is lucky. When they smooth out the corners, that is probably anti-Webb. I mean changes occur throughout the whole track, not just in the whoops.

Read the thread title. It is clear all starts are luck and nobody has used their motocross skills in a start, ever.

No luck, tomac sucks at starts. He will struggle if he doesn’t fix them

Good Sportsmanship from AC, Webb and Bagget after the checkered. And this has absolutely nothing to do with this thread...just thought it was cool.

Did someone riding for Husky/KTM give it to Team Roger?

He was 11th gate pick, was it really inconceivable that a gate on the left hand side wouldn’t be left open?
It was gate 7, gates 1-6 were filled and then some others probably chose good ruts around the middle dog box area. So there is where the 11th pick gets in.
It’s not like he was 15th pick. Ralph and Ricky wouldn’t shut up about it?
Webb and AC rode good. The track was pretty basic and hard to make up time. Wish Tomac would of gotten a better start- would of been a good battle!

Osborne generally gets bad starts, maybe he figured if he started with the privateers he could get more of a jump and not be banging bars with the top guys. Idk just a thought.

Yea, they got lucky that they are much more skilled than Tomac at a very important part of racing.

They got so lucky even you (Op) could've finished in first with that amount of luck, right?

Webb was the fastest in the first qualifying practice before the whoops were cut down this weekend.

Now we see why Dylan got the Michelin radio spot. Either he has 100’s of accounts here or there are a bunch Elito
fans. This the Elito wins series and the field is just obstacles he pays to be there. Barcia’s and the gate drop guy’s check must have bounced and they needed to collect on the track.

I am ready for the Webb train to start rolling East.
