Is vital the biggest mx forum? Can we have a subforum for local racing divided by ama districts? With a calendar so guys can plan the month in advance and tracks can avoid having races the same weekend. I know it has been brought up before but no one has said why we don't have that. Local racers are the ones who are spending gobs of money with the forum sponsors. Most guys who watch the races but never go to the track spend nothing.

When cycle news was paper they had that. Was broken up by district. Most of the time it was maybe just the tp 5 or 10 Guys in each class. They relied on a local to take a pick and send in the results with maybes small story. Yes, it was kinda in the back, but it sure was cool to see an event u might have ridden or been too. As far as schedules,
I dunno about that.

This is how they are doing it now spi.
When I was in it dist 7 had a monthly magazine.
U could see what was coming up, what was expert points events, plus the usually had the current points for each class and rider.

I mean, it was really good to be able to see how you or a few guys u usually butted heads with were doing. One would pull in the pits and look around, thinking, fuck, so and so is here, I gotta beat that guy or slip out of the top ten......

There was a section for different areas at one time. It never seemed to get visited much. I think that’s why it’s no longer around.

Local racing is struggling in texas. It's nothing like Cali and nothing like the 90s or early 2000s

I I believe those in California will tell you that local racing is mostly struggling there as well.

District 16. Wi. And the UP upper pennisela mi. Is giving away a rmz250, Honda grom, pressure washers, etc. Turn out is not like years ago. The 125 class 250 b,c and vet classes have a decent turn out. Racer x vet series 4 rds, near full or full gates at Red bud, Lake mills Wi. Houghton mi. Dug under the track to get slabs of copper. Made that into a plaque somehow.

Jesus. I can almost taste the apathy and depression oozing from this phone.

U guys ever think that maybe the lack of structure is a contributing factor to the lack of interest in moto?

I watch the local news. I listen to the radio. I read the local paper. Every week, some kid in high school has a good game. He or she, the game, and teams are mentioned. I’m not saying they are stars, but they are known. People, of all ages, follow the stick and ball stuff. They know what team is hot. What team is struggling. Who the better players are. You hear them squawking about it every Monday.

Now, tell me, my moto friends, who is the top rider in your area or district, AMA points wise?

What expert is gonna try and qualify for the show when The Feld Circus comes to town?
What 250 B rider is about to point out and have to move up next month?

If you don’t know, how the fuck do think anyone outside of the sport will know?

And why then would anyone be interested?

To the masses, we are nothing more than some dirt bike race they catch a glimpse of, on a Saturday night, when their basketball game is over.
Which imho is a shame.

Somehow, we have lost our way.

Is just running a few races a year, with a slew of practice days thrown in, good enough to draw an interest in not only new riders, but fans, of the sport?

If someone, anyone, it’s really what the AMA should be doing, would take the time to write up a short article, and send it off to the local paper or radio station, on a regular basis, would that not help the cause?

If, that is, there is more to write about than some guy that won a race and that’s about it.

No, there needs to be a story, a series, on a local level, that locals can relate too. Something joe regular thinks he, or his kid, could probably do.

That’s where a series comes in.
The struggle, the highs and lows, that go with any long term endeavor, is what grabs us.

And that’s what’s missing. Not only is the word not getting out there, one wonders, is there any word to get out?

Hey, I’m all for a guy doing his own thing.

But think about it, if we are little more than a bunch of outlaws, with no rhyme or reason but to do a few laps, or race now and then, where is the interest in that?

And all the while, that 16 year old kid that had a good game last week, which just might get him and his team in the local playoff whatever, is in the local news.

Enticing the younger guys, the next generation, to think yea, I could probably do that.

Green Bay wi. Had Mx racers on tv, quite a few times. Tv crew has been out to tracks on race day. And Green Bay is all about packers. When a hs basketball is on the news, it,s because they pressure him into representing the city. He is the best player in town, the city is tired of loosing to another city in the state. State championship games are huge and on live tv. K - 6th grade we watched all the games in school, no class, books. I think the last paper issue of cycle USA was Jan., it covered Midwest states racing. Might be internet thing now.

I’m all for this sub forum idea. A spot to discuss your local series and a free promotion for track owners. Also a spot you can talk shit with the guys you raced with! Photo guys can also post links to their websites to sell photos. Would be great in a perfect world Imo

For what it's worth here are the D2MX and Raceway Park (Englishtown, NJ) schedules for 2020.

Dude you got me so lost.

I'm not saying we need a recap of the races for entertainment. We need an area for local tracks to promote their races and connect local racers with races and track updates.

WHO CARE WHO WON THE LOCAL RACES? I DON'T, BUT I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW WHO IS OPEN FOR RACING AND WHAT DAYS SO I CAN USE VACATION OR SICK DAYS AT WORK. AND IT WOULD HELP THE TRACK GET PEOPLE OUT.

Anything in print is on it's last leg. Newpaper's are obsolete. It's all on social media, you just need to know where to look. Join some facebook groups, all the tracks in Central TX post when they are open.

yea I know its all on facebook but it could be consolidated on vital into a calendar organised by ama district that would help tracks and racers a lot

and it would be good for vital to attract sponsors because no doubt people in those forums are spending gobs of money on the sport

Perhaps bring them back would spark new interest, discussions and perhaps a revival in local racing. Sounds like the general consensus here is that local racing is in decline and needs a boost!

D23 and D16 is where I race and I see a slight decline in the A classes but all other classes from 50cc to Vet seems to be holding steady in numbers.

D14 seemed healthy last year especially GNCC/ Sprint Enduro. I didn’t race one MX race all year. This year I plan on doing more Sprint Enduro.

$50 for 20 min on my bike isn’t worth it no matter what track or how organized. This is the biggest issue, seat time per dollar. Mx needs to accept this.

This is The most intelligent answer I have seen on Vital in a long time and. Then someone trashed it lol wow.
I honestly couldn't agree with you more , I wonder did certain people just die off , or quit the sport or maybe are just busy running businesses.
But there definitely is a lot lacking in organization.
