I can’t believe how many replays of crashes and first turns we got while listening to the crowd cheering as the race goes on somewhere off screen...unreal this time...

It’s not interesting watching someone pick up their bike and push a button to start it while we miss passes for the lead...

First lap is the most action and we never see it

No, the gate drop is the start of story time.

I was curious what happened to Mcadoo, certainly no mention from the coverage. They simply do not cover the race, period.

I normally don’t let the coverage get to me, but tonight I was literally thinking, “could you just call the race that’s currently going on!?!” So much back story being told during the race when they have time elsewhere to tell it. And honestly, I don’t care for it (the back story), it’s the same generic questions and conversations with the same answers. And if they are going to show replays, show them in a little box off to the side instead of the full screen.

The fact you would hear the crowd cheering and it would still take them a few seconds to show what was going on was insanely frustrating.

If only there was some sort of down time in between the races where they could give us coverage and breakdowns of previous weeks and interviews made before the race. Now next week we will get to see the exciting portions of this race during the live race and rinse and repeat.

The tracks have been really good and the racing really good, meanwhile the commentary team has a premeditated script in case it is follow the leader. They need to be more agile....

It always frustrates me that they do full screen replays. I don’t get it. Obviously a super easy fix to make it a split screen replay.

I generally don’t comment on the TV camera /production work, but **** got silly. There’s a three way battle for the lead and for what seemed to be a long time, we are following Malcolm who’s battling himself, for fifth ? Another occasion, when the battle upfront is extremely hectic and fun, we go to a split screen to show the battle for EIGTH-NINE ? WHY ? Stop the insanity.

Im not into UFC really, but I do believe it's a good comparison. High intensity entertainment.

Now could you imagine if Joe Rogan and the production team were going off on tangents about what outside the ring activities a fighter likes or cutting to a combo during a round and not showing the fight!?!

On a full length fight, its 5min x 5, 25min... Sound similar?

Reed seemed to either have a little dig at the TV or try and subtly direct them to not cut to some other bullshit when he said 'if we stay on Eli here we will see the three-three'

Its way way way different.

Its two people in a ring for 5 minutes at a time, directly attacking each other with moves that are named and are specific and visual with points associated with each move... Then they discuss it between rounds...

We dont want Ralph going 'Roczen turns left, eli as well, AC puts his leg out and also turns left - the rhythm section its a three - three the suspension compresses then in a line they turn right and accelerate....' Describing it blow by blow the same as UFC does not work at all in supercross... at all. Especially when much of the racing is following for laps with the hope of making the pass.

Im sure theres a way to describe it in a way that works purely visually thought, its not like UFC or boxing or like what they are doing but I think the best comparison is obviously F1 - What SX needs is a fast talking British guys with a huge amount of knowledge and a history in the sport etc etc... Calling the action as best as possible all over the track, watching the timing and the TV crew responding to the commentary so they can move all over the track. But im guessing its actually much more difficult than F1 in this sense - F1 also has a lot of telemetry and strategy that SX cant elaborate.

The thing with Mookie was so obviously pre-scripted it was almost painful. They held that camera on him for no reason whatsoever, save for the need to use it to (wink wink) subtly segue-way into a nifty feel-good interview with him. The production and direction of these races is so clumsy, ham-fisted, and sophomoric it often makes me want to throw a brick at my TV - to be sure - but when has it not been this way? Fellas, when NBC thinks it's STILL okay with us for them to have figure skating knock the race into a 'next day' broadcast, and when they think it's STILL okay for us to have to see what's happening in the races by watching the gap readout of it in the upper left corner of the screen, it's pretty clear to me who we are to them, which is: nothing much.

The most frustrating part of the broadcast “problems” is they’re stupid easy to fix. 1. Don’t show replays full screen (or at all) DURING A RACE! There’s more than enough time after the checkered flag. 2. If the top two, three, whatever riders are with a second of each other at the front do not show the guy in fifth by himself for five minutes complete with an interview about his favorite football team. 3. Send Ralph on his way. Period. If for some reason you can’t do that, ban him from track walk or conversing with any professional athlete. You don’t have to reinvent the wheel, just fix the flat.

When they were talking about AC’s crash I knew they would cut to a replay. But not just a relay, first a full screen graphic of him, then 2 angles of the crash in slo mo. So frustrating to have to watch that and miss the race.

The production guy is Chris Bond I think. “Bondo” maybe needs to get clipped.

Last nights coverage was atrocious. We finally get Ken and Eli battling and they cut away when they are within a second of each other. Just such, second rate, bush league production. I am so tired of listening to the roar of the crowd, while watching a guy circling alone in 7th, and then we get “Let’s take a look at the pass for the lead on replay...”

Last nights commentary aside (and Ralph was all over the place) one thing I absolutely can't stand the split screen race coverage. Having more than one person being covered at a time is not only hard to follow, but it takes your full screen down to two miniscule screens of the bunch of background. Worthless.

If you want to be creative and show more of the race front to back, put a camera at the end of whoop section and let everybody ride through it...maybe the top 15 guys.
