I’m 5’8 and actually used to race 4x which is dirt jumpers with a full drivetrain set up when that was still big and always ran a medium frame. usually Small frames are pretty dam small haha
okay so at 6'2 look for a large.
We are going back to Rays on Sunday I'm going to ask them some more about size of the rentals

Try a medium and a large. Im 6'2" and ride mediums, large feels too long and awkward for me. 6'2" is right at the crossover for sizes. Strange though, i ride xxxl frames in bmx, 22@ top tube minimum with a 57mm reach stem.

I've got a blk mrkt 357 that I built up a few years ago. Mostly used parts that I sourced through pink bike. Definitely a fun time!

Uneducated question - why do these jump bikes not have rear suspension? Coming up short on a jump feels like it would suck pretty bad for the knees...

Love my Haro Steel Reserve 1.2 ..... putting sunline 3" rise bars on it recently made a HIGE difference for me. Frame is a large which is good bec I'm 6'3 215lbs

Find this deal. Frame says short, but on haros page there is no mention of different frame sizes.

Dirt jumpers are used as as overgrown bmx bikes. Stiff forks are fine but a rear shock absorbs a lot of energy on steep jump faces

These aren’t intended for rugged, natural terrain. These are designed for groomed downhill jump parks and pump tracks.

Rear suspension is a momentum killer and of no use when trying to shred the gnar like the old days on our bmxers. I hate riding my dual suspension bike in bike parks.

They do. Dirt jumpers with full suspension are considered "Slopestyle" bikes. Pros will often use both.

You can have fun building one as well, find a 26" wheel hardtail used XC bike, buy a new frame and build it up by scavenging parts, I'm building one for myself this summer out of my old Giant Reign SX 26" that is out of fashion now...lol

Everything. It isn't designed for the type of riding a DJ/SS does. It has completely different geometry. It can not handle the same type of stress. It would be like trying to huck Larocco's leap on a trials bike.

You do understand he’s talking about stripping parts off a bike and putting it on a DJ frame, right? Janky, sure. But I don’t think I’d be overly concerned with the safety aspect.

If it's within your means try to find a set of rock shox or fox forks. They are well worth the money. Had a specialized P3 and loved it.
