When i was 19 i cycled from the UK to Cape town. The homeless that sleep on Table Mtn are called Bergie`s. I was pretty scruffy and got the nickname.11 is my schoolboy mx number. Really boring i know but thats my username.

I dont post on vital very much because i read how if you have a different opinion on here you get called a troll or folk quickly start attacking you personally. There isnt a forum in the UK where folk can talk moto so for all its good and bad its pretty neat to have vital to visit.

Im not sure why you think what i posted on this thread is embarrassing. Pink bike posted what Kerr is trying to do and a member commented that he is starting a thread on this subject on vital. Didnt seem to care that McGrath is helping the kid. Im sure Mcgrath would tell the kid if he was wasting his time. Mcgrath actually commented its do-able.
Ive tried to explain that he is going into a open practice to post a fast time with riders that wont include the top 20 so he isnt killing any factory riders trying this unless he actually makes the night show.If he does make the top 40 then the rules say he is safe to race i guess. Just a humble question: do you guys think Kerr is going to be the slowest guy at A1?
Insulting and dangerously slowest?
I don't think so, and this would make all the guys that will be slower than him a bigger danger and a bigger insult to the sport, even if they hold a deserved licence.

I can't think a guy who's aiming at winning next year's downhill world cup, able to make such a run as that at the RedBull hard line, spends a lot of time on a MX bike and is supported by a guy named McGrath doesn't have talent enough to be faster than some of the guy who will enter the race.

So big props to the guy, really hope he will make it to the night show.

Hey guys Bernards fitted his SX ProCircuit suspension from Bones and few days later he's on Kawi test track with McGrath giving a few pointers.
I think he made brilliant progression on the test track day. Absolutely loving what he's trying to do!

I hope he makes it. partly just to make a few people on here look stupid.
I think his biggest challenge will be having to learn a new SX track really fast,
We will see.
I hope he is on Pulp or something to talk about his journey.

It’s not like we are letting a professional football player go and try his hand at SX after never touching a motorcycle before. Anyone who competes at the highest level in there given sport is committed. I think he understand what it takes to be up there in SX. No he won’t top 10, he probably won’t even make the main, but give the guy a chance. He’s in good hands where he is now.

If he’s putting in the hours, and learning from the best, there’s not good reason not too let him ride.

Bayle is actually a great example. He didn't jump in and attempt to qualify for a 500GP RR event before he'd ever raced a single RR. Because he wouldn't have any business doing such a thing...….

He had spun plenty of laps on a RR track before he went RRing and may have been able to turn some decent lap times on an open track, but he didn't enter the pinnacle class of the sport before he had races under his belt with other racers fighting for position, etc.

Thank you for pointing out how silly it is to let someone who has never raced that discipline to enter the highest class in the sport. I agree, obviously.

Accept he did go straight to the 250GP class. So whilst it wasn’t the premier class, it was the equivalent of the 250 class in an SX. It’s not like he started doing a bunch of club races.
And you mention that he spun lots of laps, well that’s what this guy is doing.

I mean he’s little stiff and timid, but his corner speed Is way better than David pulley that’s been racing sx for years and can’t make a night show unless there only 40 guys lol

It was a bit before the "internet age" but I thought that I remember Bayle racing on a 600 and 400 several times before doing the 250GP class. I think he did do a bunch of "club races" before he jumped directly into the GPs.

I mentioned that he spun a lot of laps and could probably post up a decent time, but that doesn't mean that he would have been ready to enter the 500GP class.

Perhaps, I didn’t know he did, but not too familiar on his career.
Luckily this guy has to qualify to make the night show, and with it being A1, it will probably be the hardest night show to get into.
So if he makes it in, he deserves to be there.

I thought Ronnie Ford was grand fathered in by having a license before the current rules. I’m guessing Ronnie Ford has actual experience racing a dirt bike? I’m sure someone can verify that

And we all HOPE he doesn't get hurt or hurt anyone else. The Same can be said for any newbie out there.

The thing is, he's obviously managed risk well to this point, perhaps not on sx, but he seems humble, he seems to know he's behind the 8 ball and will have already stretched many of those limitations he may have had squaring up to a new whoop, triple or rhythm section. Ponder just a moment the new peeps he'll put eyes on our sport....I say it will be a good watch and hope he does it!
It may be bad for a few egos here but great for the sport!

Big props to this guy for having a dream and going after it. I hope he does not get hurt. Since he is getting coaching...he should hire Buddy and Weston..... They are regularly doing SX coaching and would probably be better than McGrath. I will say this...if he makes it...he should consider racing full time in the future....

He cased a triple and was knocked out momentarily on Friday but was back on the bike yesterday according to the newest swap moto podcast.

Big props to him for trying.
But when you need 10 run-ups before you huck a triple, there is no way you're making the fast 40 (No offense to him because I do not have the cajones to even try it)

If they get only 10-15min practice at A1 there wont be enough time to figure out big jumps.
Guys who have raced year have better feeling without practice on them.
