Outside the United States there are companies that are advancing stem cell science to an amazing level. It will soon be used to treat many different types of conditions. https://www.bioxcellerator.com/

One day man. One day there will be a cure for it all. Shit there’s probably a cure for cancer!
Sadly… .. Im almost positive there is but theres more money in still looking for a cure via fundraisers and benefits for tax write-offs for the rich.
Theres a MASSIVE industry built around searching for a cure still and if that cure made its way to the world then a whole industry employing a huge amount of people will go away. Its a shitty world when capitalism is put in front of helping people. My moms been battling cancer for 6 years now its an up and down battle non stop.

Most of all the advances and increase in living standards is thanks to capitalism.

The idea that there is some big conspiracy to keep a cure under wraps is absolute hogwash. And it disrespects the tens of thousands of researchers dedicating their life to finding it....

If there was cures for cancer and such, that company would be the most valuable company in the world. Also socialized medicine countries would be quick to adopt it.

The industry that is searching for a cure is far far far infinitely smaller than the industry the profits from ensuring people remain sick, or just slightly better but still sick and dependent on drugs.
I dont believe theres a conspiracy within the 'searching for a cure' industry to hide the cure but I do believe that when people like George W Bush sign presidential orders to prevent the government funded study into Stem cells in the early 2000s, it was pushed by the pharmaceutical industry.
A cure is not nearly as profitable ongoing dependence.
Pharmaceutical companies will do anything to prevent a cure, and until the government regulates these industries they will continue to market drugs, buy and then kill drugs and buy politicians with the express purpose if maintaining depency above a cure.
Private hospitals also, they do not profit from healthy people they profit from sick people... its any wonder that America with the worst public health service and the highest rate of privatisation in the western world has the worst public health levels in the western world. The connection is undeniable.

Embryonic stem cells are a 5-day old mass of cells and when donated from IVF clinic would otherwise go to medical waste... If its murder than failed IVF is murder but I dont see people picketted to stop IVF.
People do IVF treatment for months at a time untill it does or doesnt work, everytime it doesnt work it could be used to research a cure for SCI...
the argument that its baby tissue is weak, and a change in policy would have ensured zero harm is done... but instead... well... The pharmacuetical industry donated $18million to his first electoral campaign and they expect a return on investment... So its really worth following the money

Where does it state I give a shit what's a stem cell. I was just proving your rant is baseless.
This is amazing, I read back in the day that adipose tissue had unique epigenetic patterns that had the highest success rate in inducing pluripotent stem cells. At one point, a paper cited the complete severing of a mice spinal cord, and reattached surgically. Later, the mice regained motor control of lower limbs. Incredible stuff

For those who are confused, the ban was on the use of embryonic stem cells in the United States, which in countries such as Iran, has had success in regenerating neural tissue. But the issue is not getting the neural tissue to grow, this issue is to get two neurons to communicate. Adipose tissue, when reverted back into a pluripotent stem cell via a transfection agent, showed great success in not only getting neurons to grow, but getting them to "talk". Of all the papers I read and presented on, researchers tested several tissue sources, even neurons themselves, which ironically, were not so good at communicating in response to a neuronal stem cell induction protocol.
As it turns out, tissues differ on their epigenetic patterns, and adipose tissue was a good match for a neuronal stem cell induction protocol with respect to getting newly grown neurons to "talk"/communicate.
Induced Pluripotent Stem Cells (IPSC) are not embryonic stem cells
There are also three stages of a spinal cord injury: Actue, subacute, and chronic. Induced pluripotent stem cells are concerned with the chronic stage, once all the damage has set in. The acute damage occurs and completes within minutes. Surgical repair will occur during the subacute stage. The subacute stage I believe is ~ 30 days. There are novel treatments that seek to limit the damage that occurs during the subacute stage, which in turn will likely improve the success rate of IPSC. Off the top of my head, I believe inhibiting intrinsic cellular death molecules and reactive oxidative species were being investigated at the time.
Who downvotes a post like this? Seriously, go EABOD.
It was probably a fumbled click.
Just watched this last night on HBO. That was tough to get through. Jessy makes an appearance (in a phone call with Paul). They got into the stem cell discussion quite a bit. Paul eventually goes to Mexico to try it. The bottom line is they make it appear that there's a whole lot of blue sky and bold promises and not many good results (yet).
I'm so lucky I can walk (L2 burst fracture). I still have some minor issues, but not really significantly limited. Any one of the people featured would trade places in a second. I hope they get onto some concrete results that they can chase.
The Venezuelan cancer curing clinics must be a secret because they’re struggling with power grids and eating their pets to fight starvation. Damn you capitalism

The point earlier was made that greedy capitalism is suppressing cures for cancer. By that logic, the socialist utopia of Venezuela should be harboring the cure because they don’t have that whole corporate greed thing going. They might have other pressing issues like their citizens dying of starvation but we’re getting off topic.
Is it inappropriate to ask one of our brothers here to tell his story of the circumstances that changed their life, and how their days have since changed?

If you can, watch the HBO doc. That's what it is all about.

Thanks...for some reason that originally went over my head
Not sure why but I'm not seeing the thumbs up/thumbs down icons on any post in this thread, else, I'd give you a thumb up for taking the time to explain that to me
The day that a severed spinal chord can be fully repaired. It’s possible, just a matter of when.
I know I haven't given up hope.

Though they refer to it as a "first step", sure looks like it's more than a first step for Chris Barr who can now set up, stand and walk...so amazing!
