Thinking of a 350, change my mind.

The 350 could be compared to the 750 streetbikes. Which nobody wants anymore. They all want 1000s. People say its lighter than a 450 but faster than a 250. But that means at the same time its slower than a 450 and heavier than a 250.

Long time lurker here. Not to highjack this thread but my question fits the topic....for 350 owners. I’m looking at two 18’ 350sxf’s. One has 6 hours the other 34 hours. The higher hour bike seems very well maintained and I can get it for $5500. The other obviously is like new and would be $6500. Both stock. How often are you guy doing top ends and is the low hours worth the extra $1000?
I’m coming off a 16 Yz250f and like doing the work on my bikes so just a matter of parts cost. I enjoy riding the 250f hard to keep up but would be nice to have some extra grunt. I’m a respectable Vet rider. Previously had a 15’ kx450 but the big bikes don’t fit with my style. Thanks men

And, since I’ve never ridden a 350, I’m wondering if it will be worth it over a japanese 450...especially since it’s so much more expensive than a 450.
They shouldn’t be much more, if you can find a leftover 19. I paid 7800 OTD for my 19 a few months ago.

I'd love to see your market research to support that claim. A couple Google searches told me that small displacement sport bikes are actually the best selling currently in the US, including the Kawi 300 and Honda 250R.

And I've seen plenty of claims around here that the 350 is KTMs most popular selling bike among all displacement sizes 2 or 4 stroke.

Unfortunately in my state (WV), all KTM dealers hold to MSRP and won’t budge. They are across the board $1500 more than what I’ve been quoted a 2020 YZ450f for.

I bought my 19 in WV, Ridersville cycle. Maybe if you’re financing they do.

I'd strongly suggest riding a "smoothed out" (milder mapping) 2020 YZ450 via their app over a 350. I just think it would be better reliability long term and you can always change the mapping if you want more power.

I would disagree with that also. It feels just like a 250F. My FC350 was 1lb lighter than my YZ250F and felt no heavier at all, when riding. But if I hop onto any 450, then yes I can feel that sensation due to the inertia. The Husky 450 only weighs a couple pounds more than my 350 but the inertia does seem to make it feel like more. But to me the 350 still feels like a 250F.

I raced a buddies 17 KTM 350. It was awesome, but I took a chance on the 2020 YZ450, mostly because of the suspension and the fact that I could actually and to map the motor to my liking. I was really torn between the YZ250F, ktm350 and another 450 (any brand). My son has the 19 CR250f. I almost bought one myself and putting a 270 kit and pipe on it.


My other bikes were a 14 YZ450 and a 18 KX450 and rode/raced my buddies bikes. I know I didn't want a 19 YZ450 because it wasn't much different than my 14 yz450.

That is interesting. I rode my friend's KTM 250SXF back to back w my YZ250F and they felt relatively the same. Up until I recently sold that YZ250F, I rode it back to back w the 350 quite a bit and never felt like the 350 had that bigger/inertia type 450 feel at all. It just feels like a faster 250F, to me. And I wont buy another 450 because I hate how big/heavy they feel. I get none of that with a 350. Although riding it back to back with a 2stroke does make it feel heavy lol.

I demo'd a Husky FC350 at a recent Husqvarna Demo Day (at 3 Palms). Was really surprised how good the 350 was. Revved out like a smaller bore bike (250) without the engine braking of the larger bike (450). Also really felt much lighter than the weight differences suggest.

The 350’s are kinda like 250 2 strokes. Gotta rev them but they are lightweight and powerful.
450s on the other hand offers lazy low RPM power at the expense of weight.

That's the wrong direction, I dont need a 450 and I dont see any advantage of being at a 20 lb plus disadvantage. As for reliability I currently have a 18 Husky 450 with 87 hrs and zero issues, reliability with KTM isnt a concern to me.
However I would like the Yamaha suspension.

the 350 motor is insanely fun and makes the bike feel very light. a 450 with mild mapping is going to make the weight difference feel like its even more.

I was SOLD on the 350. Until I went to a demo day and rode it back to back with a YZ450. KYB SSS stuff is too good, hop on comfort is insane. I didn't have any comfort or confidence on the KTM. Track was rough, bumps ruts - yamadog ate it up.


So now I'm looking at my YZ125 in my garage wondering if it REALLY matters what bike I ride - I'm leaning towards it doesn't.
