In honor of Ping hanging up his keyboard. My favorite Ping piece ever. Thanks for the laughs bud.

Does anybody know if there is any video footage around of Ping riding that?

It would be awesome to see! I know that whole thing was before youtube/social media, but he rode it at GH so hopefully someone got something on video.

Pretty sure the guy on Vital who’s opening the moto restaurant in DFW (can’t remember his name at the moment, The Reality of Speed guy) has/had the Tornado in his collection. Hopefully he will chime in here and post some pics.

Other than tests on old bikes I have owned, I've read that magazine article more than any other. It's like farting in the checkout line when you've got strangers trapped... It's entertaining every time unless you don't have a sense of humor! I would love to read part 2 on one of these newer Chinese bikes.

Some interesting china knockoff bikes today. If you have seen their four stroke MX and two stroke endure models. Not really in the market for one. But their price point fills a gap from used up junk off CL and brand new Euro or Japanese steeds.

Michael Holigan. He bought a ton of stuff and is opening a MC themed place in Dalas.

Funny as hell!!!
Didn't he get some serious heat for that one? Or maybe it was the KTM factory tour article? Or maybe both! Hahaha

That was maybe funnier re-reading it now than it was the first time. I’m not sure what’s changed, whether it’s Racer X or society as a whole, but we don’t see stories like that nowadays. I am now really wishing I’d saved my newsprint Racer-X’s, as I remember they were pretty ‘racy’.

That picture of Ping tossing his goggles at the end was _awesome_.

“I got a good jump off the gate, but the rest of the pack- a variety of editors, snowboarders, musicians, and one policeman on a dual-sport bike equipped with a siren and a gun rack- disappeared into the horizon before I got into second gear. A few moments later, still struggling to make it to the end of the Glen Helen start straight, I was passed by the Asterisk Mobile Medics Mule, which had been deployed to the first-turn crash that I had yet to reach.”

The entire article is in and of itself Pings Magnum Opus as a contributor for RacerX.
