While the debate still rages about rider participation and results and costs, the Anderson/ Cooper crash
is wholly ignored. I submit it's the most important. While I decry the Tomac/AC/Kawasaki decision, it
seems shrewd and exactly right. Let's say(for a minute) that Anderson tore a knee and Cooper had a career
ending injury. The debate would then be - we shouldn't send anyone to these dangerous events. These
are multi-million dollar decisions. Bottom line stuff as in profit, Corporate. Don't think so? It is.

One year on this side (North/South America) of the pond one year on that side (UK/Europe/Asia)..we will see how long it takes for the other teams and countries to start bitching about costs of attending this event too...
If having fun doing something different in your training is a way to stay energized then they missed out.
My point being, it’s a real cunt of an argument on one hand saying “move the date” or “it’s not the same without us” but also playing pauper AND sending every Tom, Dick and Harry that knows a mechanics Sister as part of the team.
there is 0 money in it for anyone except the promoter. and you blame the riders for not wanting to go. "go for pride"...is great but when the risk is high, needs to be compensation.....as we seen this year or when anderson got landed on. career ending stuff can and will happen.
these guys refusing to go, but ride monster cup...well duh. they make a lot of money at monster cup. not rocket science here.
OP is right. Coopers hand is broken. Could have been worse.
Pit Row
It's about who wants to go and what it means,I have a ton of respect for the guys that did
Kawasaki has lost 3 or 4 450 titles in a row that they SHOULD have won and 2 250 titles this year alone. Look at their roster from the last few years. On paper, its arguably the strongest rosters from the 450s on down which = big money.
Its a bigger deal if it was eli tomac that broke his hand or got full blown landed on than justin cooper.
And as mentioned earlier, monster cup is a contracted race that the riders have to be healthy for.
Thats the facts.
I really thought 3 was gonna go over there a shoot for redemption, but I guess not.
Thing is, he's lucky he didn't. That track and conditions that day were a repeat of Red Bud.
As long as we run on prime, manicured, almost cookie cut tracks here in the States, it's gonna be hard to win the MXON imo.
Those guys, the GP guys, unlike days of yore, run all over the world, on some of the shittiest tracks known to man. They are used to the unkown, they accept the sub par conditions, deal with it and move on. And they have gotten good at it.
We, on the other hand, need our tracks perfect, like the GP tracks used to be. We need to run on Saturday because, well, the wife wants us home trimming the grass on Sunday. Most all industry need or expect to fly everywhere, snd have someone telling them what to eat and how to live.
All the while those over the pond are racing in some primitive rain forest, on a track that wouldn't meet district level requirements.
I dunno.
Maybe make the guys that accept to ride for the flag
run the last GPs after our Nationals are over.
No freaking break. No Amsterdam, no hanging out
chasing whatever. Stay in race shape, get used to those guys and their speed in actual race conditions.
Or maybe just wait for the event to come here again,
and the Sun to shine that weekend, on a track every American team knows like the back of their hand.
And run it on Saturday.
Maybe then.
