I'll have to check out the doc. I knew a guy who comes from alot of family money and is currently racing some series in these spec cars. Never asked him about it though.

Interesting how Chad sees this as a future or a next passion. Moto has and will pay the bills, race cars seems like a hobby he can get funded by rich people. Not a bad life, but it's interesting how he spoke about car racing taking over his passion for SX.

Nowhere did he say he hated Monster, just that he or his kids didn't drink it.

Surprise! : It's not very good for you.

It's like candy in a can. Not really what top level athletes wants in their body.

I think the issue some have is saying "I took millions from Monster but never drank their product". That's just being a dick. You don't have to put it out there in that manner, it's disrespectful. Hopefully he'll never need Green Claw money to back his car racing ventures, because they now have every right to tell him to go eff himself. As we know from 22 Motorsports, Chad gets whiny when he has to spend his own money so this car racing thing will require someone to pay the bills....

I feel like the tone of his comment was that of someone just talking to a friend. Probably should have been more cognoscente of the audience and that this is a public interview, but it just sounded like honesty from friend to friend rather than hating on an old sponsor.

You think Baker lets them drink Rockstar or Redbull after practice motos. As pointed out above, most core fans know that those podium cans are filled with water. Don't you think Monster reps know that? They hand them the cans! Sheesh.
It's usually team or PR personnel handing off cans or bottles at podiums, not energy drink folks.

So basically according to your mindset, back in the day all of the riders should have smoked a pack of Camel cigarettes everyday? Let the Chad, Joey, and whomever else tell it like it is. If Tampax wanted to pay me $1million to advertise on my truck, I'd sure as hell take their money without using the product regardless of how many vitards say I use them to support my sponsor.

The moto industry is more fragile and emo sensitive about their relationships than The Bachelorette, so it's generally unwise to say anything that could come off as negative and rejecting the product obviously sounds negative. However, just like any topic out in the world, our outrage shouldn't exceed the outrage of those actually involved, so if Monster doesn't care, then I don't care, though....even if they do care, I still don't care.

You have JGR and CHAD FREAKING REED as a marketing tool, utilize the lucky break that Chad testing and then turning into a full time Supercross ride and make it a swan song tour.
it's a weird flex, i agree. but they do produce the most HP in a specific range, so there is that

Really? I don't think Reed is ever one to flippantly say anything without knowing its full intentions. The guy is a master at using social media, and the general media to make his point. I guess it's possible but just the tone of it, he had to know how it would come off sounding.

His comment was actually in relation to the ARMA deal. He was making a point about how his whole family loves and uses the product, to show it's actually healthy. I feel like he made the comment because he was trying to say how much he believed and used the product, and not how bad monster was.

And I don't think any bridge is burned here. Monster doesn't care about the handful of us vitards and podcast listeners (we already know athletes dont consume that poison) they care about the bros who think Stew still races and show up to their local SX with their boys once a year.

It honestly blows my mind how out of context people take certain quotes.
I guess aussies speak differently. its direct and straight forward. to us, its just how its spoken.

I dont take it as him bashing any company. He is comparing sponsors and what they stand for and the impact they had.

People create forums and rumours on why certain things happen through the MX/SX season or even certain scenarios.
And as soon as some one like Reed answers them truthfully and its not what the public wants to hear... every one has a cry about it.

Same as people saying these young Lawrence brothers are rude and arrogant after hearing them talk...

I hope we see CR22 on the gates for A1.

Putting all our intention into racing SX 2020. If the motorcycle Gods are listening then give this kid a ride and help him finish what he started! That’s the dream right now, to have a season where he actually comes in prepared and ready and gives his fans the best races he can. We are working to make something come together but we can’t do it alone. I probably say too much and normally we’d struggle in silence but if Chad doesn’t make it on the line for 2020 SX it’s because all the doors were closed and not for a lack of trying!! I just wanted the real fans to know the truth. He wants to be out there for you and himself! Either way I’ll still be the boss lady because I have a sign to remind me to boss up no matter what- which is easier said that’s done. The moral of this story is; even a 2 time champ meets challenges / obstacles. The point is to not give up on something that you truly want even if you have to work twice as hard to get it. * He rode for free last year because it was a great opportunity to be on a factory bike, it moved us up to NC and we are so thankful because it was a life changing move that we needed & the year before he had to buy his own bikes. Every opportunity that comes in 4 wheels he is taking because it’s a breath of fresh air and ignites his fire and passion for racing. And he can’t get a bike to ride! #truth #22 #chadreed #nevergiveup #bosslady #determined

She is 10000% the best ever. I can’t even think of a better way to say it. Chad hit the jackpot with her.

Hey! Don't you talk that garbage on here!!! In case you haven't heard, the Reed's are assholes because they're honest and because they won't feed their kids heart attacks in a can.

Ellie certainly stands by her man! ....and at times, she has been a prolific poster here at the Vital saloon. 😲 😉

Sunset for the 22 is near. I damn sure hope he gets to do a swan song. He's gonna be missed when he's gone.

If I was Honda I would put him on a factory bike for MCR. From a PR standpoint it would be solid and they would have Kenny and Chad in Red. This is without knowing any of the politics/personality issues involved. just my 2 cents

Sucks for Suzuki and moto. But it seems more and more to be the truth and the writing on the wall that Suzuki will pull out of American moto as they did GPs. Hate or love the brand or bikes it’s a bad day in our sport if a OEM goes away and a huge team packs it in.

At the same time though, all the brands know what it takes to produce a better bike. Suzuki does well enough in MotoGP where the bikes CANT be production based. If they pulled out of racing and improved their product, the average racer would still notice the changes. People who follow the sport and buy bikes know that Tomac isn't winning national titles on a $10k Kawi.

I think with Electric vehicles taking over, these relatively conservative companies don't want to keep dumping R&D money into gas bikes. Honda and Yamaha have hybrid 150cc scooters now for crying out loud. These are huge global companies, and they're not gonna keep catering to a smaller and smaller market.

Paging Tony Alessi and Bullfrog. Run a special on some Spa's and get Chad on red for a swan song. He gets along very well with Malcolm, they even trained together for a while. He rode for free last year, his back is against the wall for a ride so assuming you'll pick him up cheap, anddd you let Brayton jump across to HRC to help them out with their short term plan, so assuming they'd be open to helping? Plus he's already on Fox so no gear conflicts to be concerned about (HRC/Fox long term relationship).

Plus the headlines of a Stewart and Reed on the same team?!

SX only as is the team, Mookie and Reed under the same tent brings HUGE marketing pull/fans to the semi, Friese for the last spot keeps the budget relatively in check.

And sob story for Joey but this is a Chad Reed thread.

Anyone who actually listened to this already knows that none of the guys ever drink that trash. It’s so dumb to have people “calling him out”. (I feel dumb for calling people out that called him out). The dude has a net worth in the 8 figures, hopefully he can find a bike that will get him good starts.

Please excuse my complete ignorance/mental blank, but Malcolm, Friese and...? Lamay? Assuming Brayton is on the HRC pay roll?
