Bubba gave DeRuever a lesson in sand riding one year
I totally forgot about that. Shorty got him, too. I remember wanting Marc to get at least one moto to spoil Stews perfect season.

I was there. Stewart destroyed. Marc,. Marc told me in the pits. Stewart was not human lol. Then he gave me his smith goggles with rolloffs. Said to me here ya go, still stewarts roost in them Grinning

The French are contenders no matter what, it’s the team boss that causes them not to be, and for years the Belgians talent pool was massive. Italy, UK, France and Germany are not small countries. Your not filling a gate your grabbing three guys. I love the population argument.. so basically your saying throughout history everyone but the Belgians suck. It’s not all about population if it was the UK should have more than 1 MxDN title in the last 40 some odd years. Germany has 80 million people and without three guys it’s game over? My point stands, when we don’t send are best it’s big deal. This team has one national win this year between three guys. It’s the same for the US team as well, plus it’s in a GP wheel house track.

It’s not all to do with population of course, but it stands to reason that the more people you have, the larger your talent pool with be, not always, but in most cases. France are always contenders now, but that hasn’t always been the case. Up until 5 years ago, they only had one win in their history. You’ll always get the odd nation that has a purple patch in terms of the amount of talent they produce. Belgium had it but are struggling a little bit now.

GB and Germany have underperformed at MXdN for a long time. They are big countries, especially compared to much of Europe, but they’re still very small compared to America. They also don’t have a World Championship level national series. There are around 35 factory/factory supported rides available in the US, how can that not make a difference? Okay there’s probably 8 foreign guys in that, so 27. Every time it comes round to picking a MXdN team you have that big a pool of factory riders to choose from, and you try to claim that isn’t an advantage, give me a break, a lot of teams don’t have any. If you want to compare to GB and Germany, the US have used 15 different riders in the last 10 years, more than anyone else, GB and Germany have used less than half that. You say your team only has 1 National win between them this year, but between them they also have 1x 450 SX title, 3x Regional SX titles and a 250 outdoor title. They are no mugs

I have never said having a large population is not an advantage. I consistently bring up Belgium to prove it’s not all about population, they have been good for 50 years.. hard to call that a purple patch. France is making up for lost time, I would say they had better riders overall in the late 90s and early 2000s yet they only won 1.

I obviously lurk Vital everyday and it has shifted from the Americans are gonna get spanked and don’t know what there in for and then some guys get hurt and it’s like America is gonna go do good now and here’s why, built in excuses for a result no one knows. It’s like playing this guy only won the title because this guy got hurt. I could go back and forth all day. A lot of the Euros will be on full “works” bikes where as the AMA guys will be on inferior machinery.. just to keep it going. I can’t believe you would bring up SX, don’t you read Vital? SX is completely different than MX. Zero similarities. Sarcasm included.

But you shouldn’t be surprised that people’s expectations of how Team USA will do have shifted. Do the injuries to key riders of other top nations put them in a better position on paper? Yes, of course they do. I think most people would put them second or third now at the worst, and I don’t think that was the case when the teams were first announced. It’s not excuses, it’s just facts. And it’s nothing against Team USA, a big part of the game is getting on the line healthy.

“....I think most people would put them second or third now at the worst,”. That’s just a false statement you’re throwing out. NLD, France, SA, Belgium...those are just a few with better GP sand track riders. As it’s been noted in another thread France won at Matterley Basin with a full time Enduro racer. They could bring out Cyril Despres and I’d still pick France over the USA on a European GP sand track in a European event.

I do not care about the outcome of team USA vs the world. I do applaud the effort that Anderson, Osborne and Justin Cooper are putting in this year. Thanks guys for going over and representing the USA, hope all goes well and all three come home without injury!

MXDN is the World Cup of motocross ! Every fan from each country should rightfully be hardcore about their team!
I would guess that most of the posters on here ride or have done in the past so realise how good all the riders who will race next weekend really are ( even the guys who come last are better than all of us !)
The effort that the team from the USA is putting in is amazing ! Truly committing to the fight, three weeks in Europe for those guys is tough! Food, hotels, culture everything is so different.
There is no question that they will fight for every second that they are on the racetrack and I for one believe that the crowd will get right behind them and I can guarantee that the autograph queue will be longest wherever the USA team are.
Winning the MXDN is all about 5 results and we have seen so many times in the past it’s the team with the biggest heart, most desire and commitment to finish that wins - no question about the American team here as they have already run their flag up the pole , lets see who else wants it as a team as much as they do
Pish! Whether anybody likes it or not the winners need to have a slice of luck on their side:
1.Jason being landed on stopped USA from a very good potential win.
2. Calvin V rock to the eye stopped the Dutch last year.
3. Simpson’s chain in Latvia.

The list could go on forever as something happens every year.

Forget about national pride and Team Fried would easily win the popularity stakes.

I'm French but can't wait to see Watson in action in those conditions. He's gnarly, he has got speed and stamina as well as a ktm engine that does the job. I'm hoping for a surprise there as well as with Jeremy Van Horebeek. Both are exceptionally fast in the French sand championship

Yep Nathan Watson's got the goods, just hope he can deliver in a 35 minute race.

Look at the way he rails this berm.

It must be so much fun being that good.

Seemed to be so much hype from British fans calling for him to be on the team prior to the announcement.

Injuries have now got him a spot but whilst he's fast, I think he's going to get absolutely worked at Assen.

I think you will be surprised. He raced an International a few weeks ago and was second or third in one Moto, and that was 'just for fun' when this wasnt even a possibility. He will deliver 2 solid moto's which is what we need , he beat Coldenhoff on the Beach at Scheveningen, and Won Le Touquet . For this track, he is the go to guy. And he will be on proper bikes and suspension.

To be fair the last time he raced Assen in 2015 he finished 11th overall in the MXGP class.

Completely disagree. He has the speed and stamina to run top ten every moto and if it's wet and tougher conditions he'll excel even more.

In most races I've seen him, he takes time to get going but then he's a rocket!!! With a decent start that guy is lethal in the sand
9/21/2019 5:21am
They should have put him in the open class where the races are back to back so he could use his stamina.

Whilst on a factory bike and committed to MX. Jeffrey Dewulf finished 12th overall that day, beating Watson in one of the motos.

Don't get me wrong, I hope he kills it. I'll never understand the hype on Nathan/hate on Searle types though, especially when Tommy has delivered plenty of times at the MXoN.

Dewulf is consistent in the sand, good pace but lacking a little something to play up front

He was the third rider at ICE One and the bike wasnt close to factory spec. And in the field he was in , they were good results.
We are lucky to have him to call on.

France has to be considered a prime contender for the top step on the podium given their history of winning the MXoN. if USA doesn’t win, and I agree they will struggle to finish anywhere near the top 5 in team points, then I hope France cruises to a big win. And the loudmouth, arrogant Brit fans watch their team finish behind USA.

The French squad in Deurne. So, looking better or worse compared to team USA?

They look good, but they’re all world championship level riders and as such, will look good on a practice track. We’re not going to know until Saturday morning where everyone stacks up. I think everyone is sleeping too much on France still though. It’s very unlikely they’ll win, but they’re a huge threat for the podium

Finish behind USA , like we did last year... oh and the year before ..

The irony of anyone from the US calling someone loudmouth and arrogant.

Hard for me to envision France not landing on the box. Their riders always rise to the occasion at the MXDN. With the Dutch favored to win that leaves the US one shot at the box.

I was at Budds Creek in 2007 and was surrounded by an ocean of British fans on Saturday and Sunday. There were a delightful group to be around and listen to, as they were a bit drunk and enjoying themselves immensely. Before the qualifiers on Saturday they were quite hyped to see how Cairoli did, but after the qualifiers they were much more subdued.

It was a fantastic weekend of racing and I enjoyed seeing the passion of the fans from other countries.

Seems to me reading here lately that Team USA has already won to some degree just by putting in the effort they have been and giving it all they've got.

My guess is fitness, since mx3 races back to back. Osborn has always been known for being fit and stronger at the end of motos more so than Anderson. Of course that's just my guess. I may be wrong.

The soundtrack sucks. It was so irritating that I only made it halfway through the video before I couldn't take it anymore.
