Random thought...But I would have expected Atlas to overnight a brace to JA in Holland by now. Sideways
Anderson is not sponsored by Atlas anymore. A-Stars bought out that contract.

The only 2 nations who finished in the top 10 last year that have their best team are the Netherlands and Estonia. It’s clear that it won’t be as strong as some years previous.

If you don’t think those absentees are gonna cause any detriment to the performance of those teams and the overall level of competition at the event, you’re sadly deluded. You can moan that people have a different attitudes towards a Team USA ‘B team’ and B teams from other nations. But the fact is, the size and talent pool of the USA means that no matter what happens, they are able to send a team that on paper is a contender. No other country has that luxury

The French are contenders no matter what, it’s the team boss that causes them not to be, and for years the Belgians talent pool was massive. Italy, UK, France and Germany are not small countries. Your not filling a gate your grabbing three guys. I love the population argument.. so basically your saying throughout history everyone but the Belgians suck. It’s not all about population if it was the UK should have more than 1 MxDN title in the last 40 some odd years. Germany has 80 million people and without three guys it’s game over? My point stands, when we don’t send are best it’s big deal. This team has one national win this year between three guys. It’s the same for the US team as well, plus it’s in a GP wheel house track.
It’s not all to do with population of course, but it stands to reason that the more people you have, the larger your talent pool with be, not always, but in most cases. France are always contenders now, but that hasn’t always been the case. Up until 5 years ago, they only had one win in their history. You’ll always get the odd nation that has a purple patch in terms of the amount of talent they produce. Belgium had it but are struggling a little bit now.

GB and Germany have underperformed at MXdN for a long time. They are big countries, especially compared to much of Europe, but they’re still very small compared to America. They also don’t have a World Championship level national series. There are around 35 factory/factory supported rides available in the US, how can that not make a difference? Okay there’s probably 8 foreign guys in that, so 27. Every time it comes round to picking a MXdN team you have that big a pool of factory riders to choose from, and you try to claim that isn’t an advantage, give me a break, a lot of teams don’t have any. If you want to compare to GB and Germany, the US have used 15 different riders in the last 10 years, more than anyone else, GB and Germany have used less than half that. You say your team only has 1 National win between them this year, but between them they also have 1x 450 SX title, 3x Regional SX titles and a 250 outdoor title. They are no mugs

Hmm, you don’t understand what I said, went off on a post not understanding what I meant then you proved my point while bringing India, which of course you would not have done if reading comprehension was a strong suite of yours then realize you messed up and claim that your winding me up. All I can say is the mind of a child is truly wonderful!
No I just seen you were biting & thought I’d get in on the action while you were active. Been doing this on a couple accounts for quite a few years now with you. Usually ends up with you going on a rant about how you hate English people on this site & how we shouldn’t be allowed an opinion because we haven’t won anything in years. I’ve seen it all before mucker, it’s just as entertaining every time.

France has to be considered a prime contender for the top step on the podium given their history of winning the MXoN. if USA doesn’t win, and I agree they will struggle to finish anywhere near the top 5 in team points, then I hope France cruises to a big win. And the loudmouth, arrogant Brit fans watch their team finish behind USA.
We’ve had you covered the past 2 years bro, I’ve had American moto fans act arrogantly towards me & the euro talent my whole life & rightly so as you were dominating everything. Just getting some in while I can hahaha

I’ve been watching the gps all year long..Hoff is winning because of all the injuries and gasjer has checked out as he should after accomplishing the ultimate goal, seewer and jonass are impressive but there’s nooooo fucking way theyd be top 5 at southwick or WW in the US, which makes me think that ZO and JA probably would have a few GP wins a piece if they raced the whole circuit. I honesty think If you replaced Prado with Jcoop maybe he would have won like one less moto than Jorge in mx2...I get it, it’s sand, all 3 riders killed it at the sand rounds except for team fried at the wick but he’s a savage and probably thinks about that moto where he pushed herlings so hard that he cracked him, ended up winning by like 10 seconds only to get landed on every single night....never was a fan of the team last year, this is the year the losing streak ends and the US tidal wave washes out that little flat sand box

GFY Coldenhoff is the one who started the season injured, after a very heavy crash where he ended up with a serious backinjury.
The last GP's he has been beating the world champ Gajser, who is top fit and guys like Paulin, Seewer and so on. How the the hell is that winning because of injuries?

I think he’s winning because 222, 99, and 25 are gone for the year, plus 84 and 243 are not riding to their full capabilities for different reasons. Maybe he’ll make me eat my words and go 1-1 again like last year but I think last years US team sucked and didn’t care nearly enough to be competitive (other than AP who got hurt) much different squad this year. The guys in Europe are badass no doubt, and if this was our fastest 3 against euros fastest 3(84,61,243) then we would have no shot, but as individual countries it’s going to be very close between US, NED, and France
Tomac went 4-7 with horrible starts. Barcia and Plessinger did little to nothing.

You are correct, Presto. We’ll see who laughs last this year. And as a huge fan of Manchester City F.C. I understand how arrogance is earned.

No, NLD is the odds on favorite to stand on the top step. But y’all ignoring that France has been dominant over several years now and failing to include them as a top contender is foolishness.

I wonder how the power output on Cooper’s Star/Yamaha Factory built 250 stacks up with the Works bikes from the GP’s? Those Star YZ250F’s were holeshot machines in then AMA Nationals.

I remember a podcast with Marc De Reuver just after last years MXdN at Red Bud where he was commenting on what he saw wrong with the US riders in the sand from his perspective. He was saying that the US riders were coming into the turns too fast, crashing the berms and killing their momentum, then riding out of the turns slower than the others. He said that "to be fast in the sand, you have to come in slow to go out fast." Made a lot of sense to me (not a sand rider) that you can lose tons of time collectively over a lap.

MXDN is the World Cup of motocross ! Every fan from each country should rightfully be hardcore about their team!
I would guess that most of the posters on here ride or have done in the past so realise how good all the riders who will race next weekend really are ( even the guys who come last are better than all of us !)
The effort that the team from the USA is putting in is amazing ! Truly committing to the fight, three weeks in Europe for those guys is tough! Food, hotels, culture everything is so different.
There is no question that they will fight for every second that they are on the racetrack and I for one believe that the crowd will get right behind them and I can guarantee that the autograph queue will be longest wherever the USA team are.
Winning the MXDN is all about 5 results and we have seen so many times in the past it’s the team with the biggest heart, most desire and commitment to finish that wins - no question about the American team here as they have already run their flag up the pole , lets see who else wants it as a team as much as they do

2018 MXdN - 22 riders inside the top ten (MXGP, MX2, AMA 450, AMA 250) raced.
2017 MXdN - 20 riders inside the top ten (MXGP, MX2, AMA 450, AMA 250) raced.
2016 MXdN - 21 riders inside the top ten (MXGP, MX2, AMA 450, AMA 250) raced.

It's weaker, both on paper and "feel".

From a euro team perspective, it's even worse, RG1 nailed it in the post above!

I’m talking top end talent, Roczen was not there in his title years and injuries have kept the top US riders out more often than not and now they(Tomac) dosent want to go and I don’t blame him. In 15 there was no Dungey,Roczen,Tomac,RV,Herlings,DeSalle, etc. In 16 the 450 GP champ was not there nor the 450 MX champ or SX champ for that reason, no Tomac, etc. I think in general not just this year the glory days of the MxDN being ablsoulty stacked are gone. More injures now plus the dates being harder to work with for AMA riders, IE zero offseason are contributing factors.
2018: The dude who finished 7th overall in MXGP spanked the world at MXoN.

2017. The dude who finished 9th overall in MXGP spanked the world at MXoN.

The top ten in MXGP, MX2, AMA 450 and AMA 250... is largely "top end talent".

I’m standardly GBR (lucky to podium of course!) but man I’m so behind this USA team. If they win, I’d be stoked all the way for them. Putting in the work, enjoying Europe while doing it.

Even if they leave without a win, they’ve had a great time and grown themselves as top personalities and inspirational riders. Massively into their program and I hope they surprise the shit out of everyone TBH.

Their attitude towards this event is absolutely terrible, I doubt they care. Team USA is better off and much more well prepared without them

I have never said having a large population is not an advantage. I consistently bring up Belgium to prove it’s not all about population, they have been good for 50 years.. hard to call that a purple patch. France is making up for lost time, I would say they had better riders overall in the late 90s and early 2000s yet they only won 1.

I obviously lurk Vital everyday and it has shifted from the Americans are gonna get spanked and don’t know what there in for and then some guys get hurt and it’s like America is gonna go do good now and here’s why, built in excuses for a result no one knows. It’s like playing this guy only won the title because this guy got hurt. I could go back and forth all day. A lot of the Euros will be on full “works” bikes where as the AMA guys will be on inferior machinery.. just to keep it going. I can’t believe you would bring up SX, don’t you read Vital? SX is completely different than MX. Zero similarities. Sarcasm included.
