I guess it's how you defiine dominate. RC and Villo were dominate. Eli is not in that league. He should be but...well you know. Awesome, great, super fast, yes...dominate...nope.

Lol...everyone likes who they like. I try not to compare anyone to anyone else historically (total wins not withstanding. That's at least a measurable). Eli is the best outdoor competitor of his generation.

3 in a row is no small feat.
Totally agree. 3X champ is outstanding. But the argument is "dominant". That's when a 100 point margin defines things.

True. In this case I wouldn't say Tomac was dominant.

Dominant rides? Yes, absolutely.

All were minus RV, who was systematically injured in 2010, 2012 and 2014. RV raced part of the MXGP series in 2015.

A damn thread congratulating Eli, and some you argue over Herlings, Dungey, and RV. Big time loser material does that.

Man I had a feeling he was going to go beast mode today and go 1-1. A lot of people rag on Eli for his mental game but to be 2 seconds of Roczens qualifying time and then to go out and break him in the first moto like that, I think that says quite a lot.

Ok. I give up. I submit. I was wrong. Eli Tomac is the best and fastest man to ever throw a leg over an MX bike. He is unbeatable, without peer, the absolute epitome of motocross excellence. No one before or after him will ever achieve his level of perfection. Can someone please kick me in the nuts for doubting his total domination of all things moto.

Budds Creek has been pivotal for Eli the last 3 years. Go back and look at the races heading into it, he lost some momentum, lost points etc. Unadilla is probably his worst track, and I wouldn't say Budds is his best track, but it has help him seal the deal.

2017 MM had the momentum and ET3 comes out moto 2 and put a stop to it.

As for the Dungey vs ET3 debate: as a big time fan of both I will say Dungey certainly was great and has great numbers, but Eli is certainly more entertaining to watch. I dont mean the blunders, I think he riders more aggressively and I think that shows.

I'm not sure about this but....crazy idea....but there may be a middle ground between what you've just said, and what the other, more reasonable people in here are saying in congratulating a 3x champ.

Just food for thought, but who's to say for sure..

Dang plowbro...why you getting so worked up? You're usually one of the level-headed ones here. That said, I think I understand as I go off the deep end occasionally.

Lol. You and I have seen "dominate" riders. Eli is /can be one of those guys. But the truth is...he isn't. I was firing at the crowd touting him as FMOTP. Superman isn't super once in a while. I actually dig Eli...but I ain't blind...he's got chinks in his armor. If Ricky was as inconsistent...Windham would have had a few championships.

Sorry to come off as a nut. Didn't mean to but I like to keep things real. Eli is crazy fast...but not ALL the time. Do you ever remember Ricky or Ryan not "feeling" it. I don't expect Eli to be the second coming of either of those guys...but I get tired of his fan boys pretending he's in their league.

Well, his inconsistency appears to be well known. Yet, here he is 3x champ. The era you speak of... competition not as strong? I truly don't know because from 1992 to 2012 I paid no attention to MX. Not even a little - it was just too painful.

I want to go on the record as saying that ET3 is a bad moto mofo and won this series by being the fastest bad ass out there. I have nothing bad to say about him even concerning the MXoN. I don't know enough about the details that lead to their decision to even comment. Disappointment, but that's all I got. Congrats to Eli and Kawi for pulling it out and winning the whole enchilada.

Not many have 3-peated any titles. Pretty cool.

I think the thing that gets lost in Eli’s weird rides, since 2015, each time he’s backed it down and had a weird day, he’s stayed healthy. I think he learnt something in Colorado that day. He didn’t need to annihilate everyone, every time. Just when he felt good and safe.

There’s a few guys who might have won a lot more titles playing it safe when they weren’t feeling it.

Yea I think his best ride all year was at Unadilla. He obviously wasn’t feeling it, so instead of riding over his head and getting hurt (like Webb) he was smart and didn’t do anything stupid.

Look at the depth this year; deep as ever and getting better. Hard to dominate a stacked field but witnessed it first hand at Washougal. One round from passing RJ for what?
