Plenty of big thumpers out there too, when Bob Wright tips over near the beginning that’s a CCM thumper...

Thats how grew up riding, jumping onto the flat. THese landing jumps and doubles/triples are scary as hell and not beginner friendly, cause a lot of injuries. I think we need tables, step ups and flats in public vet and beginner tracks.

Bikes were lower, less travel and less power and didnt come after you and break your back/neck/collarbone.

Wow, thank you for that.
The blue groove and 2 stokes are things I miss in our sport now.

Anyone from Houston remember Old Al at Rio Bravo when you called the recorder? Dry, Dusty and Blue Groove, come on out!
Cool, on the way!

I’ll never forget Al getting rescued off the roof of the house at Rio on live TV during the flood in 2001

I would love to see today's stars on 500cc 2-strokes on a hard pack track like that.... just 1 time....in a points paying race. The mind reels!

It can't happen anymore, these are memories a few of us still cherish, with videos to memorialize it.

In today's world:

* The bikes are too fast
* The track is too fast
* The track is too dusty
* The track is too hard
* The jumps to flat are too hard on the bikes and riders
* There are no ruts to hold your bike in the corners
* Going uphill on a start with 2 jumps is too dangerous
* 40 riders jumping side by side is too dangerous
* Spectators right next to the track is too dangerous
* Allowing un-approved manufacturer's to race it too??
* 2-Strokes not being handicapped to allow the green 4 strokes an advantage will cause the Earth to die

etc. etc. and we wonder what happened to our Sport? Motocross was the 1st Extreme Sport before it got NEUTERED.

Go spin a couple laps at Unadilla after the motos are all finished and tell me that modern MX is somehow neutered. I'll wait

You couldn't have picked a worse example, since 'Dilla has been around since those days of the early 70's and is one of the only throwback circuits left, although it is not what it was.

The track is only one part of the equation, and spectator proximity due to insurance has killed the experience, you have to go to off road if you want to get close to the action these days. When Dinosaur big bore 2 strokes ruled the earth it was a better place. When natural terrain ruled tracks where water trucks could drive ON the track it was a different sport.

And I was there, and still am.

Unadilla today is like a road race compared to how it was back in the 70's and 80's.
