Older Vet guys...and their 125's.

Glad to see this thread is still alive and kicking. I had two full days of moto on my 125 this weekend. 6 moto's on Saturday and 5 on Sunday. The damn thing just get's more and more fun every time I take it out. I've got it jetted perfectly , and am getting into race shape and pushing a little harder and a little faster every time I go. Also.....this time of year , getting off the more sandy tracks and back onto good soil......such a nice feeling!

@jeffro503, you plan on riding this weekend? Thinking of hitting up Washougal on Sunday (Saturday my wife booked me up for the day wine tasting...I'll try and not go to hard on the vino before ride day hahaha). Cheers brother

Hey Ian , I think me and my group were planning on Mtn View Saturday , but right now for me , it's up in the air. I'm sick as a dog with some kind of sinus infection / flu bug of some type that has knocked me off my feet. I want to ride , but if I'm still a little sick it might be a good idea to pass this weekend and not have this nasty stuff come back. But we'll see. If I do think I can make mtn view on saturday , I'll shoot you a PM ( does yours work here? ). OR....you can send me one through here as well , as I'll get it.

I got a chance to race my 150SX this weekend at Aonia Pass in Washington, Ga. Needless to say, I have some work to do but it was a blast I raced 45+ on my 350 and open 2 stroke on the 150. Unfortunately i was the only open 2 stroke, but they put me on the line with the 30+ guys. It was fun coming through the pack and passing 450s. Not bad for a 1st gate drop on a 2 stroke in 20 years.

Update on my 125 riding, had my 04’ cr125 project done for a couple weeks now... ridden it on a couple different tracks and it’s soooo much fun.. got the jetting dialed in now, runs pretty well for what I have done to it. Damn it makes you work but in a good way to keep the fire lit and moving. This thing will make me even faster on my 450 I think. But that’s not the point. Fun factor is off the charts! I don’t plan on riding my 450 until I have a race in a couple weeks!

Right on Nick , glad you are enjoying her! Man this thread ended up kicking ass. Pumps me up knowing that a ton of other dudes out there gave the 125 / 150 a shot and are now having a blast on them. I mean , the 125 aint for everyone , but if you give it a chance , and a will to learn , you could surprise yourself at how fast you can get around a track. I'm two years into the 125 now , and I still learn something every time I go out. I honestly don't ever see NOT having a 125 in my stable.

Yeah man! This was technically my Christmas present from my wife.. bought it for $800 in December.. no idea.... well sort of an idea how much is in it now.. but I don’t really care.. it kicks ass and it’s staying in my garage forever. But yeah I’ve gotten much faster on it already on the last couple weeks... I’m a vet B ish’ rider I would say but this thing might push me over the top to hit another level. We will see. gotta stop eating like a fat kid though!

Love to hear the excitement man! I know the feeling. And even after 2 years I still get pumped to ride my 125. They are just awesome bikes to ride. I get pissed at myself for not getting one years ago!

Just picked up a 2001 KX125. Never rode a 125. I went from an 80 straight to an '85 CR250 at 12 years old. At 16 I got a '95 YZ250 (man that was an easy bike to ride) and then finally go a '07 KX450. Not sure how the small bike will work for me but excited to give it a try. A little work to do on it and hope to have it out at the track in 8 days.

Im about to ride this weekend, for the first time since I broke my right wrist 8 weeks ago...I would love to ease back in on my 125, but the motor is very sad now...its a project bike...I dont wanna ride my 450 because its just going to be too much...so I will ride my 250 f.
At 53...the 450 was just an experiment for me...still ongoing...things I love about it..things I hate...
My whole life ive been a 125 rider...my friends think im crazy for riding a 450...they say im so much faster on the 125...I am!
My layoff with this injury has cost me severely in$$$ terms..no work...no money..
My main priority is to get back to My best at work , so I can buy a brand new yz 125 like I was planning...and do a project build on my old one..
125's are the essence of fun ...
I dont care how old I get...I will always be 16 when I'm riding my 125!

Growing up racing in the 90s, I always considered the 250 a "man's bike", as it was so much more powerful than a 125, which I felt more comfortable on. I ditched the 125 scene in 2004 for a Honda 250f (add that one to the thread of "bikes you are glad you sold") and had ridden a handful of 250f's and 450s since then, up until about 2015 when I bought another KX 250 two stroke. Oddly, that 250 two stroke started to feel like the 125 did to me back in the day. With a RMZ in the garage, I found myself riding and racing the KX 250 more often. It was so much fun and I could only imagine how much fun a 125 would be again. So I found a complete piece of shit matching KX 125 and built it a few winters ago, spent way too much money on it, but have had an ear to ear smile underneath my helmet every time since then. With more and more of my friends and local racers adding a 125 to their stable and the reemergence of the 125 two stroke class at my locals, it's easily the most fun I have on race day. Absolute warfare on the track, with your friends and we're all riding them like we're trying to blow them up. It doesn't get any better!

I bought a 2019 kx250f this spring but contemplated getting a 125 again. Last one was an 07 yz144. 03 kx125 before that. 250f seems the perfect bike for me but 125's sure are fun. If I were wealthy I have no doubt I'd buy one as a second bike.

It's a vintage series but they have classes for everyone. I can run Evo 125 against the young guys or run Evo 50+ against the large displacement bikes. It's fun either way.

Any reviews on the late model tc125s? Considering a 19 tc125. Planning on exhaust, carb and suspension work from what ive read. Ridden my buddies 19 150 and liked it for sure. Signs off kinda early thats why im thinking 125.

125 dream race at washougal next month! I've been to every one and they added a vet class last year which I'll be riding in. They also added a vintage class as well.
