Let say someone steals your bike and you still owe $6000. You have no insurance, so your Fxxked!!!! Let also say your one of the lucky ones, the cops find your bike 2 weeks later. When you get your bike back it won't be this perfect garage queen it left as. It will be wrecked, roached, dogged, and probably spay painted.

If not insured of course you want it back, what kind of a stupid question is that.

Insure your bike. It costs under $150 per year. Don’t be stupid.

So you owe 6k, no insurance and some meth head with a hammer steals your MX scooter. You chose not to hit him in the head with a bike ramp.

Police find your bike two weeks later and its been somewhat abused and spray painted and you make the decision to say nope, don't want it back. No wonder the Nigerian scammers target you!!!!!.

I think of my bike as being in a relationship of sorts; I take care of it and it takes care of me. I'd wanted it back no matter how jacked up it were so that I could restore it to its former glory, instead of leaving it in the hands of some neglectful thieving dirtbag.

What are the fees to get it out?

Do they let you see it before paying said fees?

Been through this and it wasn’t worth it.

Haha, for whatever reason I didn't absorb that part, but regardless of where it would go, insurance auction or whatever, I want it back.

I had 3 stolen a few years ago, the cops actually worked pretty hard and found all 3, the guy who stole them even had them all sold already. One was a few weeks old, they spray painted my rmz all red, and trashed the tires. But yes when I got the call for each one I went to pick them up immediately.

Probably not. It may have been damaged/abused.

Start over with a new one, is my advice.

I have insurance and want the payout. I dont want it back as it's likely been abused and damaged. I take care of stuff and have alot of pride in a well taken care/maintained bike.

You had to pay fees to get your own property back? (I'm guessing impound fees?)
That's a real shit scenario, right there.

Long story... will try to sum up...

- I bought a bike from Canada in the crate.
- Rode it for a couple years then sold it.
- Was stolen from the kid I sold it to.
- Recovered in Queens, NY
- They would not release it to the kid I sold it to because paperwork was in my name
- Kid asks me to come with him to have it released
- I go, they would not release it to me because I just had a bill of sale, not a "Registration"
- I ask to see the bike, denied
- I ask the kid what he wants to do, he says let's register it
- I go to NJ DMV, register it, pay sales tax and reg fees (the kid pays me back)
- go back to Queens with all correct paperwork... pay whatever fees
- They put us in a truck, drive us through a graveyard of every kind of power toy you can imagine and then to the bike
- It was barely recognizable
- Take it home, with the repairs it needed and fees to get it out... it was not worth it

No sir. If someone stole my woman I wouldn't want her back (I understand one was willing and the other not but you get my drift). The bike has most likely been fucked 7 ways from Sunday. I don't even want the cops to look for it. I'll take the insurance payout and get a virgin. Of course, I'd be sad to lose the aftermarket parts but it is what it is.

Insurance companies offer riders for the aftermarket goodies. Pay a few $ extra per year and get everything paid for
