Lackluster changes? A completely new cylinder head design (with finger followers instead of buckets) is a big change and needs probably the most developement effort of all the parts on a 4stroke.

So 450 still has a shim under bucket head? I saw no mention to finger followers?

That grey is horrible. I thought my phone broke when I first saw the picture. I was definitely thinking the color option this year other than traditional blue would have been black since worldwide the race teams have been using black. Too each their own though, at least it’s different......

Ahh okay, missed that. Hopefully it's bigger pistons than the 08-19 caliper

Shim under bucket, no finger followers...

I was wrong on that prediction...

When I saw the first spy pictures from Japan I was 100% sure that it's a finger follower design..

Won't happen.

Everyone bitches about updating the 2stks but other than elec starter what else could they do? I don't think they would go back to steel frames, the motor is solid as a rock, the suspension is good so why change it? I'm guessing the engine would need new cases for an elec starter and I just don't see them doing that. They are making a killing on those bikes, they raise the price every year and don't change them other than BNG. They know they will sell so why bother?

They have the offroad 2stk market corner too because of price, the 2020 KTM 250xc will be mid 9k's the Yamaha is 1700 cheaper approx.

Where do people come up with these rumors?? Every year I hear people say "rumor has it so and so is coming out with a new two stroke or flux capacitor 300". WHAT SOURCES ARE THERE????

Unless Keefer or someone in the know actually drops a hint on a public channel, I don't know how or who comes up with these.

Yes its $1700 cheaper, but they lost a customer this year because of no upgrades. No, that's no big deal to them, but know quite a few people that feel the same way i do about it. I've always been a yamaha guy and waited years for them to update the 250X (for 3 years rode a '15 YZ250 I set up for woods) and they never did. Instead i bought a GasGas XC 250, and its an amazing machine. Hydraulic clutch, e-start, 2 maps, stock FMF pipe/silencer combo, KYB suspension, and brakes that compares to brembo's. Would have like to stayed on blue, but waited out too long for no changes to happen.

That's what I saw too. Something is a tad askew. So which is it Yamaha? Has Porkulus lost weight or not?

Not everyone cares about a button, I have a '19 300XC and I love it but I'm just saying some people don't care about the hydro clutch, elec starter and all the extras other brands have. I want a 250X bad as a 2nd bike its just not in the budget for me right now.

I couldn't care less on having e start. In my opinion that should be a upgrade you purchase like Honda did in 17. E star and a hydro clutch are not enough to keep me from picking up a bike on a better deal.

If you need an e-start on your 2 stroke, it's probably time to hang up the boots...

Motor/suspension work or weight reduction over hydro all day in my opinion. The cable they have works fine

For me, having a button is a deciding factor. I would really like to get a 250 or 300 2 stroke as a second off road bike so my only options remain Austrian. I was really hoping to see what Yamaha had in store for the X line.

Everyone has their own needs/opinions and as consumers I guess it's good that we have options.

With the Yamaha, it is pretty clear electric start was always going to be part of the package with the new engine management, since the battery is required anyway to run the communication hardware.
