I don’t blame you for getting frustrated. It annoyed me as a casual observer.
Yes. Thank you!. I thought my post was pretty straight forward. That's why I put all my info in the OP.
Trying to make it clear this ain't my first rodeo. lol

I currently ride a KX250F. Over the last three years I've gone from a 450,350,back to a 450. I think I found what I've been looking for with the 250F. Only thing I've done,FMF exhaust, 51 rear sprocket and suspension. I'm pretty happy with how this bike works overall. Every once in awhile I do miss the Torque but not the HP of a 450 but,not enough to go back. At 54 I think I've realized a 250F is plenty to get the the job done In the 50+ B class.

Btw, what made you decide to go 51 on the rear sprocket? Just curious.
I rode one with a 51 sprocket and the throttle response off the bottom felt better, more responsive.

I’ve ridden all the new bikes and the 19 KX450F is the easiest one to ride imo. It’s the bike a currently own. I miss my Yamaha fork, engine, and cable clutch but I’ll pick the kx 9 times out of 10

I haven’t ridden it but from your background info the kx250f would be great, don’t think 2x.
Kawi actually changed the official model names to KX250 and KX450 for '19 They dropped the "f" The first time I saw it on the dealer website I had a tinge of hope for a 2 smoke 250 lol

It's just not as fun as it was and is a bit too much for me to ride comfortably.
I've had a blast lately riding my 16 KTM SX125. I just love how light it is, but I don't want it for my only bike. Still love 4 strokes.

Anyway, how do you guys like your 19's? The price is really good on them right now.

My brother is a Kawasaki dealer, so that's what I always buy. So please, if you want to give me advice on another brand, don't waste your time.

Thanks in advance!
I started on the Kawi 250f's back in '13 then bought a '15 then the '17 and now the '19. My '17 was bone stock and it actually worked pretty well. The '17 was a big improvement over the older generations for me. I didn't have a problem with the alleged loss of low end power in '17. That was until I got the '19 I really like the power on this bike. It rips down low, you can kind of lug it and still make it over jumps. I am 46 yrs old 5'11"and weigh 200lbs. I gave up the 450's back in '07 when my CR450 pile drove me into the Elsinore dirt at the end of a hot day and put me in a wheel chair for 12 weeks. Eff 450's!!! Plus they are boring to ride unless you're a pro or just generally enjoy risking your life every time you swing a leg lol. I've hopped on a few 450's over the years and I don't miss them at all!!! I liken the 250f to a 4 stroke 125! They are just freaking fun to ride! But have enough power to be a bit lazy. You can blow up corners, knife under the heavy tank riders and slay the heavy bike riders late in the long Old Timer MX motos (3-20 min motos in one day) I can also not ride for a month and jump on it and feel good. They are easy to ride. I am not brand loyal but for the price of the Kawasaki 250f you really can't beat the value. Right now you can pick up '19 KX 250's in Oregon for $5,000 OTD . The bikes work good! My '19 suspension did not work in stock form very good at all. It's harsh! Especially the fork. My suspension guy Darrin Mees with M9 suspension said it looks like they had supercross valving in them from the factory. Not sure what the testers are thinking but whatever. He got the suspension working so good!! It almost feels like a Yamaha fork now. I did race it once in the 40 expert class pre suspension valving and it was harsh!!! I managed to squeak out the W but I was hanging on for dear life. I love my '19 Kawasaki KX 250! I support your decision.

For a matter of perspective on pricing the KTM 250sxf is almost $4,000 more than this Kawasaki!!! You can almost buy 2 KX250's for the price of one KTM .....

Indy, I’ve been a part of a team that’s developed the ‘19 for racing in Canada. The stock bike is amazing and it does REALLY well with just a map and some good fuel. A little more compression goes a long way with that motor, too (if you feel like going for some more power).

The 250 responds to small gearing adjustments, too. A tooth up or down in the rear makes a difference.

Also, if I’m reading the Kawasaki Tea Leaves correctly...we’ll be getting the same bike in 2020. So, the current bike with the discount (is it $1,000 off?) is a good deal.

Good Luck!

ps-I know what you’re thinking; however, I’d still spend some time on a 2019 KX450 -before- pulling the trigger on the 250. That new 450 is sooooooo damn good!
I love my '19 but wouldn't mind improving it a little just for the hell of it.
So far I did the suspension, I have a 51 tooth rear that I haven't put on yet.
I generally run 92 octane ethanol free fuel. What would you run?
What about exhaust? Which one does it respond to best?
Which map do you recommend ?
I assume increasing the compression a bit with a piston?
What about cam?
Thank you in advance.

I have my 16 450 sold already. The new KX450 is sweet for sure.
I was just at my brothers shop yesterday pricing a new KX250. He has 3 19 KX450's in stock and he was dealing on them in a big way.
He has 2 KX250's sold counting me but he's sold out of them. Going to get them from another dealer. The 450 is an awesome deal for sure, but I'm ready to go back to a 250.

As far as the price on a KTM, they're great bikes for sure. But not that great. imo.

Thanks to the guys who shared their opinions on the new KX250.

I have ridden and raced every Kawasaki 250 and 450 since 2006. The 2019 is, in my opinion, the best of all of them by a long shot. Try riding the 450 in a gear higher than normal so you have less gyroscopic engine effect working against you. I will say though that my second favorite new bike is the 2019 KX250.

Thanks for the feedback on the 250. That's how I ride my 450 now. I just don't need all that power anymore.

This thread cracks me up and pisses me off at same time. OP clearly only wanted to hear from actual owners of 19 KX250 for opinion of THAT bike only. What was so hard to understand about that? He doesn't want to hear about any other bike in existence PERIOD! So anyone who posted that does not own a 19 KX250 should be tarred and feathered!

I'm an actual owner of a 19 KX250. (It's actually my son's, but I ride it too). I've owned and ridden about everything over my 45 yrs of riding. I think it is a great bike and underrated for how good it is. I put a Race Tech gold valve kit in forks and softer springs for my son's 130lb weight. It's just an all around good bike that gets the job done. It does have the decel pop. I want to get map changed to make that part better and I'm curious if a PC pipe will make a worthwhile improvement. Given that PC pretty much specializes in the KX250, I would think their pipe is the best.

I got the bike for a huge discount so it was a wise purchase and am completely happy.

I have one, I would recommend a PC pipe and air boot, take the back fire screen out and get a vortex and they’re an awesome bike. Stock they fall flat at the top and the decel pop will fry your brain. Spend some money on the suspension, the forks aren’t good stock. Cut some plastic out the air box to help it breathe too. Well set up they turn very well

wait till next year.. 2020 bike will be alot better.. ditch the shitty SFF forks.. i went from a 16kx450 to a yz250f ill never buy a 450 ever again.. im 27 200lbs vet intermediate/expert, business owner and sole provider.. 250 is night and day safer for me even though i have faster lap times...

get the 250.. best decision you will make..

aaaah.. how did you get rid of the decel pop? must do a remap? I hope it doesn't do any damage (the pop).
Can I cut the "fake" right side of the airbox without any issues disturbing air, etc..?

The decel pop stayed there with every mod except the vortex, best money I ever spent! Yeah just cut the fake side out, helps it breathe a bit especially with the PC air boot and back fire screen taken out. I use the No Toil Superflo kit which is great

I have a 19 kx250. I'm really liking it. Only been on it 4 times so far. It handles great. Corners great. Comfortable ergos for me, I'm 5'11 and 175. Plenty of power but not a lot of top end. It's by far the most narrow bike I've ever had. It needs a fork revalve. NEEDS a fork revalve. I'd like to try the mapping that MXA recommended in their bike test but no shop around me has the tool and I'm not paying $700 for it.

I didn't want to mess around with having a suspension shop do the fork re-valve. I know a couple reputable shops near me including Factory Connection. But if they don't get it right first time you have to keep going back and forth. I decided to give the latest Race Tech gold valve a shot which includes a new mid-valve. I just plugged in my son's weight and ability and used their recommended shim stacks and clicker settings. I also put a .84 kg fork spring in and a 4.8 kg shock spring. Huge, huge, huge improvement. I weight 175 myself and think they are actually plush now. I didn't even feel compelled to change clickers. My 130 lb son also thought they were way better. and was completely happy. So I haven't touched them since.

So if you know enough to change fork seals yourself or know someone who does, then the Gold Valves are easy to install. It's a good option to having a shop re-valve them.

So you have a PC pipe and a Vortex on yours? How significant is the power increase? I saw on MXAs test that PC pipe started out with a 1 hp increase at about 9,000rpm and eventually 2hp at 12,000rpm. Sounds pretty good.

How much difference did the Vortex make for power besides fixing decel pop? I had one on 2 of my YZ250Fs (before EFI days) and they made a big improvement in power all the way through.

The pipe and Vortex are together about $1500.... I kinda hate to spend that kind of money but I did get the bike cheap.
Just wonder also will it make my son go faster or get the holeshot?

It's by far the most narrow bike I've ever had. It needs a fork revalve. NEEDS a fork revalve. I'd like to try the mapping that MXA recommended in their bike test but no shop around me has the tool and I'm not paying $700 for it.
Does yours have any excessive engine vibration felt through the grips/seat/pegs? Mine does

The decel pop stayed there with every mod except the vortex, best money I ever spent! Yeah just cut the fake side out, helps it breathe a bit especially with the PC air boot and back fire screen taken out. I use the No Toil Superflo kit which is great
So basically the stock airbox limits airflow? I'm afraid if I cut the right side I will damage the air circulation.

Where can i pick one up for 5K OTD? Not trying to be a smartass, honestly looking for one, at that price its a no brainer.

Power Motorsport in Sublimity,Oregon ask for Matt Williams. Last I saw was $4,999 OTD if they have any 19’s left.

I find the suspension fine. I'm 175 lbs in my gear, the first ride it was bad (way too much preload on the shock) but once I set the sag correctly and played a bit with the clickers I didn't have an issue with it.

It's light, narrow, good off the bottom and turns well. Lacks a bit of top end but I tend to short shift 4 strokes so not an issue for me. A good bike, does everything well and I'm very happy with it.

Post a reply to: 2019 KX250 owners only...opinions please
