I talked to Jamie Ellis quite a bit about ECUs. He said you can only do so much with the stock unit. He said he couldn't really even improve on the Chavez map. But the Vortex opens the whole thing up and can make much better improvements. I would agree that the Vortex is the best mod that can be...

You might ask around to see if you can find a local guy that will re-map it for you for a small fee. When I had my recalibration tool I did a few for people and I was going to advertise that I would re map for $50. But then I sold the tool. It seems like Kawasaki themselves would...

If you don't plug green coupler in and have no coupler at all it will default to whatever the green was previously mapped at. If it was all zeros then thats what it will be. If you changed green to something custom that's what it will be, even if not there.... Now that I say that, I have no way...

I have the calibration tool. I'm still learning about it. I wish there was a good, accurate tutorial on how the calibration unit and mapping actually works. What I do know is that the basic map inside is carved in stone. The couplers are just variants to that map. From the factory, the green coupler is all zeros, the white...

I lost a lot of respect for him after that. Win and lose like a man. Whether it’s fair or unfair should have no bearing on your reaction. Never mind that he threw it away anyway.

That's because Adam's front wheel is in the gate... There is nothing we can do about a rider jumping early and hitting the gate, causing it to reverberate. That's what a backwards falling gate is meant to do: keep everyone behind it until it hits the ground. If they red-flagged every start where one of the 40 went early and bumped the gate, it would become the strategy -- have your whole team count to 4 and pin it. If they time it right, holeshots. If they go early and hit the gate, restarts. And then repeat, and repeat. It's...

I've seen a lot of posts about the "age" of bike issue and this "RULE" is more of a suggestion than rule. If your bike is cherry and similar enough to the approved year they are allowing you to race. If you have a question reach out to them direct and they'll let you know. I got in for Thunder Valley after reaching out about my bike not being "current" enough and got the go-ahead. The point of this "RULE" is to make sure people aren't showing up on clapped out bikes and turning this race into a circus.

The rules say for 5 years old or newer for bikes still being made. But there was a KTM at Hangtown that was older than that. They are probably lax on that rule if the gate isn't full. I'm sure there were some older than 5 yr Yams at Washougal last year. There is no reason a 05 or newer...

So you have a PC pipe and a Vortex on yours? How significant is the power increase? I saw on MXAs test that PC pipe started out with a 1 hp increase at about 9,000rpm and eventually 2hp at 12,000rpm. Sounds pretty good. How much difference did the Vortex make for power besides fixing decel pop? I had one on...

I didn't want to mess around with having a suspension shop do the fork re-valve. I know a couple reputable shops near me including Factory Connection. But if they don't get it right first time you have to keep going back and forth. I decided to give the latest Race Tech gold valve a shot which includes a new mid-valve...

This thread cracks me up and pisses me off at same time. OP clearly only wanted to hear from actual owners of 19 KX250 for opinion of THAT bike only. What was so hard to understand about that? He doesn't want to hear about any other bike in existence PERIOD! So anyone who posted that does not own a 19...

I sure hope Waunch keeps it. Too cool to let get away and ran into ground by someone who doesn't appreciate what it is. If he doesn't keep it, a Yamaha collector should have it. Maybe Eric Christianson or Bobby Winker of Lewiston, ID. They had 85 YZ80s back then. BTW - Wes, I know who you and Eric W...

This indeed is probably the most famous DMC creation. I work on CNC machines and I'm still fascinated with what Dave could make back in the 80's with CNCs of the day. He was making his own hubs and triple clamps! This bike had a KX80 front end with the disc brake. That rear suspension link in the box is...
