I'll admit, for as passionate as two-stroke riders (and fans) are, I was kind of surprised at the low entry numbers at the Pala round for the 125 All-Star race.

Who's in for future rounds? Here are a couple links you can use.

They need to allow older bikes to race...shouldn't matter what bike it is as long as you can qualify and run the pace

i dont want to make a dig on DC, as i think the series is doing well and i think adding this to every round is a move in the right direction.

BUT

i feel that for a 4 lap exhibition race there are too many limiting factors with the entry fee, bike limitation and only 4 laps.

Either go back to last years formula, where there is no charge and its for fun

OR

go further, make it a worthwhile Pro-am regional series like and West/Central/East that still brings out young kids and old vets. maybe add a 2nd moto and at least pay back the entry fees

I feel like they're just trying to make sure that what does show up is quality.

It's probably a lot like my parent's motorhome. It's an older model but in excellent shape and well-taken care of. A lot of RV parks, if they know you're driving something older than ten years or so, cast a wary eye at letting you in.

I've seen a lot of posts about the "age" of bike issue and this "RULE" is more of a suggestion than rule. If your bike is cherry and similar enough to the approved year they are allowing you to race. If you have a question reach out to them direct and they'll let you know. I got in for Thunder Valley after reaching out about my bike not being "current" enough and got the go-ahead.

The point of this "RULE" is to make sure people aren't showing up on clapped out bikes and turning this race into a circus.

The rules say for 5 years old or newer for bikes still being made. But there was a KTM at Hangtown that was older than that. They are probably lax on that rule if the gate isn't full. I'm sure there were some older than 5 yr Yams at Washougal last year. There is no reason a 05 or newer Yam shouldn't be allowed, it's the same bike. I would think anyone who thinks they are worthy enough to be on a national track would have their bike dialed in. They could always do a tech inspection...

They have a time constraint with the live TV broadcast for the 250/450 motos so in order to do more than one 4 lap moto they would have to squeeze it in earlier in the day/morning. Which is doable if they wanted to I guess...

I get it, they don't want clapped out bikes on the track but there's two solutions to that. Either make a minimum qualifying lap time requirement that a clapped out bike is less likely to run, or make another class for the vintage years and allow the vets to have fun. Guaranteed they will fill the gates if they allow vet/vintage riders to run before the big show.

Seems a bit of overkill for a 4 lap race. I'm sure there only so many local riders that are willing to ride the local rounds.
Would have like to see a East and West coast points race and then top riders could go to Indiana for a championship round.

Our 06 YZ 125 only looks different because of the plastics and can't race, but our 05 KX125 could.... Not fair to riders who have good quality machines out there. IMO...

So Zach can't race because his YZ is an 2006, but Trace can with his 2005 KX..... Makes no sense.

Plenty of vintage races nationwide. They have their own series.

Low numbers because of the cost, if it is for fun as everyone says, then why is their an entry fee for the sideshow participants?

Want to further trivialize a class here that is taken seriously in another series, then open the gates for all comers with whatever 125 they have cuz it's in good shape.

What is a fair price for riding a national track.? Nothing is free. Local tracks charge. Granted its all day. But you pay for the national day laps. It is was it is. Ride or watch.

This question has been answered so many times it's getting fucking ridiculous. Do people on here not read? If you have a really nice bike that "technically" doesn't meet the year guidelines you aren't going to have an issue. We raced it last year on a 2002 CR125. And probably will do it again this year on same bike

Cost - When has this race ever been free? Not last year that's for sure. If entry includes gate & passes(haven't had time to look) then cost isn't really an issue as the experience is pretty amazing.

Laps- Probably a combination of time and giving the old pros who don't ride as much a chance. Believe me my kid would much prefer 10 laps as he gets crappy starts on a 125 due to size.............

Why should they pay to race a 4 lap parade? All Stars is a horrible name too.

I agree with BR8ES, have a look at what they’re doing in EMX125, that’s how you run a 125 series. Watching ex pro’s is fun but I’d much prefer to watch the up & coming kids trying to prove themselves to the factories.

Probably, I’m guessing, less of the late models sold anyway as the 4 strokes had taken hold by then. Smaller pool of bikes obviously for that reason.
5/28/2019 2:38pm
Or.... is this just the ugly truth showing itself that 125 sales are minute?
Most people riding a 125 are schoolboy riders and vets. Not skill class riders who take racing serious.

125 all star isnt a serious class. It could be one day in the future. But the catch is how do you get quality talent to show up on quality equipment with no reward and lots of investment? By tapping into enthusiasm. Or are we seeing the actual level of enthusiasm in front of us..

$50?? F that. It's $30 here. No way in hell I'm paying $50. It's already a struggle for me to get to the track.

Get rid of the homo age rule, and have the bikes pass a mild tech inspection to make sure they appear safe and are worthy of competing. How many guys with nice, older, competitive, full mod bikes didn't show up because they read the homo rules? The world may never know. I'd say anything full mod 1985 and newer is acceptable for a 4 lap race with a good enough rider.

Agree. I don’t think many riders would take a punt on being allowed to ride until they got to the track.

Just need to give it a chance. 150's would be a bad idea. The name is fine. Again, the entry fee included more than just class entry. Maybe some older bikes could be considered. This is good for the sport.

Yeah, what difference does it even make if the bike is ugly, but still meets safety requirements? They aren't showing the race on TV, so nobody will be offended from their couch.

I'm afraid "homo rules" scared away our friend who felt uncomfortable with an MX mag being called "Transworld".
