He needs to figure out a way to introduce good bacteria... its known to cause fatigue and lethargy... Maybe introduce probiotics twice a day or something?
Great guess.

They figured out the antibiotics he has been on have been killing his immune system because it killed off the good bacteria in his digestive system. It’s a common thing in people who have been sick and had extended stays in a hospital. Hard to diagnose and horrible for an athlete because they thought it was mono.

He’s on a special diet now and he is getting better.

Did someone hijack Gary semics account or did he really just write this about the guy who won last weekends opener? Something isn’t making sense, Gary did you watch the race Saturday or did you miss it? I don’t think Kenny needs to take any time off, dudes on championship level outdoors and didn’t even seem to be trying!

Shoulda posted this in April. It’s tough to agree with everything after he won last week. You might still be proven correct by the end of the series, though. I sure hope not.

If you would have posted this towards the end of the SX season I may have agreed. After watching Hangtown I think he’s going to be just fine. I see him getting the majority of the wins this summer. Appreciate your input Gary...you know a hell of a lot more about this sport than any of us so maybe you are onto something, I hope not!

I think the suggestion that kr94 ought to just maintain a moderate level of fitness the rest of the year is spot on. Kenny’s ability on the bike will carry him to more wins this year and the reduction in off the bike training will set him up for a great sx season next year.
Was written in Vital KR94 is just a 5th to 10th Guy! Evil

I think you are spot on!
He is getting stronger during the season and MX is his terrain to gain confidence.
I think its although kind of mental he went through some tough incidents that last 2 Years.

Gary S probably had this basically written for awhile, and one week either way probably wasn't going to have a good deal of impact on this thought. If Roczen goes 4-6 next week without crashing his brains out, people will look at this in a different light.

I think Semics' heart is in the right place, but decisions like Roczen has had to make don't just happen in a vacuum. This is a very short career sport for the most part, and he's getting paid a lot of money just to be out on the race course and sign autographs in the pits from Honda. He could sit out the next 24 months to recover even more, potentially, but at what cost? There are no guarantees that he will recover more than he currently has, and he won't get those 2 years back after they are gone.

It's easy for anyone to second guess something like this, but it's Ken's career/life. He likely has some pretty good people behind him giving him advice, hopefully it is honest and frank. If he goes 4-6, 8-12, or 1-1 next week, he's probably made the best decision for himself given the information and options that he has available.

I don't think Gary is stupid for this post, or that he's necessarily "wrong", but the timing definitely makes it easy to question it. Either way, it's an opinion and he could be fully correct, or woefully off base and it isn't going to affect Roczen's efforts one way or another.

What’s up with Ken’s, I don’t know what’s wrong, but something is wrong? I have nothing but admiration and respect for any athlete at Ken’s level, so I’m naturally interested in what might be the misery problem with his low energy issues. Ken prides himself on mental toughness, and rightfully so, but everyone has a breaking point. Ken’s not at his breaking point, not even close. However, the physical and mental stress from his first major arm injury at A2 in 2016 put him at max out stress level. Then trying his hardest to get back in top racing shape as quickly as possible continued loading stress onto an already stressful situation. Then another major arm injury number 2 came. Then he put himself through the same stressful scenario, get back to 100% racing performance ASAP. There didn’t seem to be any consideration to heal his phyche. The mind and body cannot always do what the conscious mind wants to achieve. Without time and a balance preparation routine, there will be sub-par performance, at best. I believe the word “TIME” was not considered as much as it should have been. Now, it’s beginning to show side effects. The side effects are sub-par physical and mental performance. He doesn’t even recognize where it’s coming from, but it’s there, and it’s beginning to raise its ugly head! The best think Ken could do for himself is take the rest of the year off. Do enough moderate training to maintain some of his fitness, and have fun! I know that ain’t going to happen for obvious reasons.

When I heard he was coming back to SX in 2018, I commended on a post in Vital that it was too soon bc he needed more healing time, mentally and physically. I’m looking in from the outside, so obviously, I don’t know, but that would be my guess. What do you think?
Whatever happens, I wish him well.

I’m certainly willing to give Gary a pass on this one. Hope the info above about antibiotics and diet is the start of great things and Roczen keeps that red plate going.

Roczen said on Pulp he still feels like crap, so Gary is right in that even though he won, he appears to have a major problem. It's possible he might hammer himself into worse shape, at the front of the pack or not. Roczen is so good in mud he probably rides at minimum energy expenditure.
Winning races doesn't solve his health problem, and Gary knows all about training your way into sickness, if you have ever watched his MX training DVDs.

Wow Gary, some pretty off the wall observations you have concluded to. I believe Ken said last week they have found the cause of his “energy” problem and attributed it to the high amounts of antibiotics he was forced to take from his burns from the lime incident. I am sure stress is also playing a role, but I don’t see taking a year off as a logical solution. He will continue to get stronger all year, they have a plan and winning the first round was not in that plan, but it sure was nice.
Yep. Sounded like he had to go through two rounds of the antibiotics, which set him back.

That sounds very likely. We hand those things out like candy in the ER. Modern antibiotics are so powerful that they wipe out all of your good bacteria and it can cause big problems, especially for a hardcore athlete like Ken. He needs a good gut bacteria transplant. You can Google to figure out how that is accomplished.

Antibiotics make more sense especially coming from the horses mouth. Antibiotics will tank your conditioning. A weekend warrior may not notice much, but at such an elite level I can see that being a game changer.

I agree with Gary that Ken may have come back too hard too soon. And just because he is winning doesn't mean he won't crater at some point either physically or mentally. I think one important aspect to Ken though is he has, as far as I can tell through his instagram, a rewarding life outside of motorcycle racing. He loves his wife. He loves his friends. He loves his family. And he loves his dog. And he has a great relationship with his fans and his competition(probably in part because he races fair). But I still worry he will have problems down the line, especially physically, so hopefully he plays it smart and saves a little in the tank.

Kenny won the overall and has the red plate!

A good natural yogurt works fine. You can tell it works because the natural flora or gut bacteria create gas. 2 great wins! Or should that be winds?

Gary is very knowledgeable but this is odd timing. It's almost like this post was made last week on a really bad internet connection and it just got submitted.

I think he should keep racing. He might have some bad weeks but so will other riders. I think he has a shot at the title and life is short so why not go for it?
