There is normal pressure than there is having to be perfect pressure. The latter can crush a person's spirit and sap the joy out of anything. He was even worried about how he looked, body-wise.
It makes me sad that he doesn't even want to ride a dirt-bike anymore, but not surprising. Hopefully he can rediscover the joy of just riding again one day.

Not to mention the pressure of providing for your family at 16 years old. Guy was under so much pressure I get his resentment for the sport. I hope someday he can come back and enjoy the sport. He's earned his retirement.

I hear so much arrogance. He thinks he knows so much more about how everyone feels. Its sad that he didn't enjoy more of it. Honestly as a father with a son who races, it makes me angry that his parents didn't help him with life balance more. He put the pressure on himself and then didn't know how to deal with it. I loved watching him ride, but he sounds like a complete headcase. Hopefully he is finding some balance and inner peace in retirement and parenthood.

Are you serious? You don't get to that level with life balance and nurturing parents. You get there because you, and your parents, are hungry.

Mike Tyson did a podcast with Joe Rogan a few months ago and mentions that his son told him he wanted to box. Mike's response was (while laughing): "You're stupid. You go to private school. You take European vacations. You want to get in the ring with someone like me? Some animal? You're stupid."

Based on his number of championships, wins, perfect 24-0 season- He clearly knew how to deal with the pressure.....

Great quote from Mike Tyson! He has a lot more wisdom than most people would imagine.
Bob Hannah referred to the same idea in saying he was grateful his dad wasn't rich.

I found the first one interesting and I enjoyed it. Only made it about 6 minutes into this one. Apparently, I'm no longer interested.
Your comments suck 100% of the time.

Yeah, it was riveting. He might love himself more than everyone on here swinging from his nuts.

I know lots of guys who dealt with the battlefield just fine, and are basket cases now. You can be an elite athlete and still have a decent life balance.

Big thumbs up! When you talk about results the answer is clear. No one can speak intelligently or confidently about another persons feelings. To do so with confidence is arrogance.

Obviously we disagree. Being called an ass by you is near the bottom of my concerns in life. Ill happily buy you a beer in person to discuss if given the opportunity. Cheers.

Nope. 250f was same in 04 and 05 but Kawi was all Kawi in 06. 450 was never the same.

He always thought he coukd wax those guys. Ricky didnt think that. He went out tongive 110% to wax those guys. That is why ricky is the bigger champion. James had greater talent but the lesser mental game.

After what he did to the 125 class, when everyone else was on a 250f, can you blame him for being so confident!?
It must have been a real shock to JS when he realized just how fast the 450's were compared to his 250.

I have always wondered what he would have done if the sport had remained 2 stroke and he could have raced the rest of his career on a 250 2-stroke. He may have won right out of the gate on the 250 Kaw and stayed with them much longer. I am sure RC would have still had his say, but I think it would have been more even in regards to wins and championships.

It’s been said before, but I bet he’d be a naturally great announcer. He oughta do some guest spots for the next SX season in the meantime. I bet he, Ricky, and Ralf would be gold, Jerry!

Say cock or nuts and you're a homophobe. Got it. There's a ton of geniuses on this thread.

Sucks he hates who he was, or who he felt he had to be, but he's still a legend no matter what anyone says.

How someone can have a negative opinion after that interview is perplexing to me.

I really appreciate his insight on what went into those races and years.

Did you guys hear on the Pulp Review show on Monday, them talking about he had the option of a certain amount of Monster stocks to stay with them instead of Red Bull, and now those stocks would be worth like 85 Million!?

Is it just me or is the circumstances so so strange. It’s linked in a really strange way from the Instagram account and then it goes to a fake Seven YouTube channel with no other videos and is completely different to the official announcement clip that JS7 originally posted. It’s almost like someone has gotten hold of the raw footage that was only ever gonna be used for audio and hacked the seven Instagram to post it.... it’s very fishy
