Baggett's velvet-glove treatment of Webb?

Did anyone else think that Baggett was ultra-gentle with Webb? He had several chances (choices) to put a good, clean, block pass on Webb and never even came close to pulling trigger. Looked to me like he decided to do the exact opposite - he stayed as far from Webb as he could in every corner. Like he was afraid the gentle breeze of a pass might knock Cooper over!

I guess if you are on the KTM "B" team it'd not go over well if you took out the points leader. Might affect your employment with KTM, forever.

I was really shocked when Baggett finally made the move. The lap after the pit board read “dont settle”

Of course he did, it's buisness 101. I'm suprised he even made the pass.

me too.
It was almost like he was forbidden to pass Webb.

Baggetts a racer not a player. He wasn’t going to lay back.

Or maybe he’s not a dick?

It’s one thing to be in the points chase and run in hard on someone and it’s something completely else when you’re 70 points back.

He does something too aggressive it’s going to make KTM angry, fans angry, and other riders angry.

Sit back. Talk loads of goods things about KTM, enjoy the rest of the year, and come out swinging in the nationals.

Certainly took longer than expected. Biting the hand that feeds him if he would have pulled out a 'bonehead' move so I guess he was playing safe.

It was also pretty interesting how fast Savatgy got past Webb, after Eli had bike trouble in the heat race. There have been a few races this year where Bagget and Savatgy looked really fast, but "played their part" instead of beating guys on the same brand. I was also surprised that Bagget made the pass in the end.

Ya, it was obvious that Baggett had more speed last night and he was overly patient in making the pass. So much so, I had thoughts of him trying to push Webb for a while like RV used to do to Stewart to see if he could force him to ride over the edge and eventually make a mistake. Problem with that is, Webb isn't like that. Then the pit board comes out with the greenlight to pass (the "don't settle" message), and then he does so on that next lap. Honestly, I was even more surprised Webb just didn't give up the position sooner when Blake was all over him. That one spot didn't mean much in the overall points anyway.

But ya, Baggett was overly polite in the race IMO.

Is not just him, it's the white ktm's too. I've been shouting at TV telling deano pass him. He's been right on him in a bunch of races going faster and I thought for sure he'd pass him but he'd keep chickening out on sealing the deal with a pass and I would proceed to shout profanities at him while watching lol. Osborne wouldn't pass him last week either. ??‍♂️

When a rider Passes Webb he knows that it needs to be clean or Webb will return the favor with a little more love behind it. Being on KTM and not in the championship hunt makes the decision to make a clean pass a little easier to live with.

It seemed like he did everything he could to stay behind Webb without passing him. They were probably hoping for Webb to pick it up but he never did and I believe that’s why Baggett finally had to go around. It was way to obvious that he was laying back. He had plenty of opportunities that he was going to pass Webb but ended up letting off.

I think he just waited for the right moment and made a clean move. Good smart racing. Even if he had got by Webb earlier I don’t think he would have had anything for Eli.

I thought to myself for a couple laps that he was under orders not to pass him.

Most likely what you said is true. So what. Would it make much sense for a KTM rider to smash into Webb Not sure of the point of pointing out the obvious.

I did not see a whole lot of opportunity for Blake unless he wanted to do a Justin Cooper.

That's how Baggett rolls for the most part. If you go back and watch video of him, most of the time he doesn't force a pass.

This was the third time he's been in that situation and shockingly he made the move this time. I noticed that when he is behind Marvin, he was way more aggressive trying to get by than he has been with Cooper.

Come on man. Pointing out the obvious is at least 50% of vital.

Bagget knows Webb. Bagget wanted to paycheck fo reflect his efforts. Dirty pass, probably end up with a smaller paycheck, wait until a clean pass can be made, better paycheck. Laying up for Webb? Seriously? These guys race for paychecks. Marvin? Yeah, he would lay up. Bagget? No way in hell.

I think you guys are reading way too far into this. Baggett is usually not a guy that forces passes. Several times this year I've gotten frustrated waiting for him to get by slower riders.

baggett did what i would expect out of someone in his position the track was pretty slick, rocky and technical so passing wasnt too easy and, cleaning webb out wouldnt have done much it terms of the race overall or season for him.

Had that feeling watching the race this afternoon. Army of 6 factory KTMs orange and white out there. Strength is in numbers i guess. Direct 1/2 of the top 10 guys to be gentle on webb, cant go wrong. Outstanding business strategy.

Yes Blake was on top of Webb being clean and patient but I’m surprised Webb didn’t protect the inside line as Tomac passed him there as well.

Money is on the line and he usually keeps it clean. I’m more interested to see if he’s going to put himself in bad situations with Anderson. Outdoors should be good.

Seemed to me there was a point mid way through the race that Webb got his bearings and settled in. Bagget just sat back and stalked him then pounced when he could.

Politics in this sport are what have ruined it. The 250 class was "supposed" to be the stepping stone to the "Premier" class. How many true "Privateers" can compete with PC, GEICO and others? We all know it but they continue to control and Command the sport. The AMA and others know it but look the other way. They bring big money. If you want to compare look at Pro Rodeo. Can of worms,.....you dam right.

It did take a long time for Baggett to pass Webb, but coming into corners, Baggett was not quite close enough to go for a block pass unless he just darted straight across the inside like a maniac. Doing that would no doubt result in a collision. Webb down....KTM pissed at Baggett....Webb out for revenge after that...maybe Baggett down too...just bad things. Best to wait until you are for sure close enough to do it clean, which is what he did. Maybe he did that just because it was Webb, or maybe Baggett is just a clean rider. Maybe both. Webb was also doing a damn good job of not leaving big openings and getting good drive out if turns. Baggett didn't have the speed to catch Tomac no matter what.
