It would not be in his best interest to lay up and not try. That would not look good to a team thinking about hiring him. Agree? Unless he already has a new deal in hand and figures screw these guys and just mail it in and not take any chances.

The finish line isn't always at the top of the jump. Maybe Tomac thought he crossed the transponder line at the bottom? Just a guess.

I think he wants off the team and putting in bad rides on purpose. That was embarrassing for him that first race to just let people by like that. No fight at all. Like doesn’t even care. Don’t remember seeing anything like this from a top rider.
This is really dumb.

No. there's nothing to it. You cant be fired from a team for not winning. Thats one of the dumbest things ever speculated on this forum. He has a CONTRACT. You know, one of those things called "legal documents"?

Unless he breaches his contract, aka does something really bad. Than it wouldnt matter if he rolled around in dead last for the rest of his career on kawi, they couldn't fire him and they'd still have to pay him.

Tomac has grown weary of the SX/MX lifestyle. He's a talented rider who would rather spend his time doing something else. He lacks the hatred of losing, which is a prime mover with many champions across a vroeity of competitive endeavors. His near decade-long tenure on the circuit has simply exhausted him mentally and physically. Complexity understandable.
He told you this? You know him personally eh??

How about you put a disclaimer at the bottom of your post that says "I have no idea what I'm talking about, but I'm gonna pretend I do anyways!

Of course this is all speculation. We have. I idea what’s going on. That second moto was telling for me though. We will all just have to wait and see.
I don’t like how fans are kept in the dark so much though.

Hopefully he doesn't saunder back to get his career kickstarted like he does when he falls over, not a lot of time left in this "race".

Maybe he already signed with another team , and kind of threw in the towel this year , And Mike Williamson said if this guy is gonna throw in the towel im out.
Totally Hypothetical scenario but the thought crossed my mind.

The fact that James from a non biased 3rd party perspective was saying how Tomac is like the fastest guy hes ever seen, but he gets in his own head and it screws him up is telling. His 2nd half of the 17 sx season showed it when he dominated... but still lost to Dungey. His beginning of the 15 mx season winning by 1:20 over Dungey shows the guy is out of this world fast and that may have been fastest ever... but his head sabotages his body. Its the craziest thing Ive ever seen, the guy has the talent to be the greatest of all time, but he sabotages himself.

I know you cant take meds but I think he has generalized anxiety disorder- that brings some of the awkwardness, but also panic attacks and it seems like when something happens he panics, this spikes your heart rate, and would drain his body of oxygen drastically dropping his cardiovascular performance in half. This is why the sport is so tough though, to be great you need your physical conditioning to be world class, preparation, skill, and mental toughness all need to be at the top of human performance and if 1 is not you wont be one of the best ever. You can still be successful, but you need all to be clicking to be one of the best ever.

There's something going on at Kawasaki. Williamson quit suddenly to spend more time with his family. That's corporate code for we're not going to tell you the real reasons. Tomac riding motivated when he feels like it and circulating when he doesn't. you and I will never know the real reason. But there is definitely some unhappiness going on.
Plus why is Joey in the pc rig and Eli in the Kawi rig?
At A1 this year i noticed they split the team in half. Eli had his own crew chief and Joey had his own.
What happened after MEC ?

I lost interest after main 1, skimmed 2 and 3, but looked like Tomac was riding decent in main 3?

If there was a rift between Tomac and Mike Williamson, assuming that Tomac moves to another team next year I don't see why Williamson would leave?

There’s another 2 years as an Option. It was a 5 year deal in total, unless they choose not to continue

For all the empty talk there is about "mental" game in this sport, it's seriously underdiscussed in clinical terms. I can't figure out Tomac for the life of me, and wouldn't presume to diagnose him, but I'm sure a sports psychologist could give a very interesting perspective on the guy, if someone interviewed one.

Exactly what I was thinking...you’re not a “big fan” if you can’t stick with the guy through thick and thin. Frustrating to watch at times I agree, but nonetheless I’m personally am a fan. Lot’s of tools on here seem to jump ship and start rooting for the current guy who is winning (bandwagon riders).

This is what I have been wondering. If a long term employee like Mike and a rider have an issue, reassign Mike to some other position till the rider leaves. Rider careers are very short with a company by comparison. Sucks it worked out this way IF that is what even happened. Even worse is Tomac leaves after this year.

IDG bandwagon fans. One of the biggest thrills of being a fan is seeing your guy weather the adversity and the obstacles and come back for the podium/win/championship/whatever. Yeah, it's frustrating AF being a Tomac fan right now, but dropping him completely just bc of an off season is pretty weak. Always rooting for the winner is boring, lame, and takes the thrill/risk out of being a sports fan.

Wow. Ok guys, so happy to know you all are the gatekeepers of "real" fandom.

You toddlers demand people enjoy the sport your way or the highway huh?

So sorry but l get to decide that shit.
