I heard about this last week when I was playing Golf with a mate here. He said it is going to be inside a horse trotting track in the city.

I hope he was lying to me as I will be disgusted if it is when we have a world class track a few hours away (Manjimup). The last thing the motorcross world needs is another artificial piece of shit like Assen.

Couldn’t agree more mate but I am still over the fucking moon no matter how it turns out. A round of MXGP in Perth, WA of all places!

If this was a MXdN - I'd be planning a vacation down under for 2020!

Stoked for the fans in Oz & NZ though... From what I can tell, they're hardcore moto fans for sure. The aussie fans I met at MXdN 2018 were all cool as shit

Why in the fuck would you hold it in Perth? Majority of the population (and not to mention racing) is on the other side of the country. What a joke

Fark . Awesome news but Perth??? Surely that's cheaper for the teams but man, we all better get some buses hired from the East Coast to cruise across the nullabor!

Dumbest idea ever to hold it in Perth FFS

This is good and bad news. Now if the government is supporting it then it may pay to support the event as it seams the only way a GP can be run is with government support.
IF this event fails Giuseppe will walk away with cash and moto will have cake on its face in the eyes of the government who may not help out moto in WA at all including club level.
DOES Australia really need a GP on what will be a shit house track. In. My eyes if its going to be worth it hold it on a good traditional track

I’d guess WA Gov pitching in. After all they lost arguably one of the best rally’s in the world WRC

Shame it’s Perth, a lot easier and cheaper for us NZers to get to Melbourne, Sydney or Brisbane.

That’s fucked!
Lucky the sport is tiny other wise the airlines would jack the price
The sandgropers have two home GP’s in Indo, so they don’t need it in a pony track!
2020gp... next one 2032!!!!

It will be because the Western Aussie State government gave the cash to make it happen ,

I don't think crowd numbers really come into consideration outside of Europe. I think the reason why places like Indo, China, Hong Kong and now potentially Perth get rounds is because they are cheaper to run and more likely to get financial backing from the local government. Just a guess though.....

Actually loving that somewhere else other than Sydney, Melbourne or Brisbane get an event. It'll draw a crowd regardless.

How much would it be for you to fly there?

The only drama I have with it being in Perth/WA is that it will discourage some of the bigger name east coast based Aussie riders from entering, moreso than the cost of entry. I think if it were East Coast, MX2 and MXGP gates would have been full. Hopefully we see a large contingent of aussie riders making the trek and giving it a shot.

I will be keen to make it as a spectator though! Awesome that it's in Aus, regardless of where!

I can't see it being in W.A being an issue, for most of the guys apart from a few it might be their only chance to ever race a GP.

Also one of the very few chances to show their skills to the GP manager in front of their eyes, I would think no matter where it is, as long as their teams give them the OK to race they will be there.

Could be the perfect pre-season race for the Aussie riders, and WEM might take the opportunity and run a round of the MX Nationals in W.A the following weekend. There has not been a national round in W.A for a few years again now, could be an opportunity to head back there.

But dam it could still be a scorcher of day at that time of the year in W.A, could easily end up being a mid 30s to low 40 temp at that time of year.

I’m extremely biased due to being a local and it being the first time an event like this has been held here in my lifetime, WA doesn’t even get a National anymore so this is heaven on Earth.

Even after what I’ve heard about the price of entering a GP I can still see a decent amount of the top locals wanting to have a crack and unless it clashes with a National which I doubt it there’ll be pros willing to make the trek.

If thousands are willing to go down to rural Manjimup for the 15000 I don’t see crowds being a problem, might be the most isolated city in the world but WA has a big moto scene just very spread out. Perth’s a nice city compared to others too. Could be located better but I think this events gonna be a ripper

I would book my tickets today if it was qld/nsw. Perth is a hard no for me, I could go to Europe for not much more than a flight from NZ to Perth

i would probably rather go to Indo as well, tack on a week in bali or another island and still be cheaper than a weekend in perth, with not much different flying time for me
