Really happy with my Karcher K5

I second this...never use gas. If you really want to get freaked out, pressure wash your bike (including wheels and triple clamps) and then take everything...

If you really want to get freaked out, pressure wash your bike (including wheels and triple clamps) and then take everything apart. You'll find water in places it should never go.

Dont resort to a weak low pressure unit if you have other uses for it. A real pressure washer has quick change tips and you can get whatever amount of pressure and pattern you want out of it. Get a good quality rebuildable pump with a 13 hp Honda engine. I use my portable Landa for bikes, cars, washing the house, 205 ft metal building at work and some huge parking areas and driveways. At work, my natural gas fired Landa pressure washer has a wand with a twist grip pressure adjuster. Hot or cold with any amount of pressure you want.

Good point - nice to have the flexibility for sure. I like my Karcher, but I've had a few electric ones die along the way...

If you can throttle back the pressure (and have discipline with the wand to stay away from the linkage, wheel bearings, headset, etc.) then you're probably good!

I'm spoiled right now, since I ride mostly sandy stuff; when I lived in Georgia you absolutely had to pressure wash that red clay off the bike. I tried it with a hose for a while, and you'd be there for hours....

I got one of these after years of having gas units. I think I paid like 150.00 4 years ago and and I treat is like shit.. it sits out all summer , been used for hours an hours washing cars, decks and bikes. I spent more in gas on the other units than this beast. When it dies I am getting another one for sure.

I have a Craftsman 1700psi for about 5 years no issues. Starts right up even after sitting all winter. I don't have an outlet close to where I wash my bike so electric just isn't feasible. Make sure if you live in an area with freezing temperatures to winterize the pump. If you don't winterize the pump you could crack it and the pump alone are $100+. I think the pump winterizing stuff is like $8 a can and it's lasted me 5 winters so far.

I'm considering this one from Harbor Freight. $80 this weekend

After reading this thread, I picked up one of these AND the replacement warranty. The check-out lady said "Good luck!" I said "You don't sound optimistic." She shrugged and laughed.

I just picked up one myself today. I also got the warranty. Girl said the only problems she has seen anyone have with them is an occasional problem with the nozzles. She said "Bring it back, we will give you another one!" WTH.

Same here. Works well. I used to have a gas husky with a little more power, but this one does the job and was about half the cost.

The cord is long enough to reach were I use it without needing an extension. Stringing the electric is not much more of a hassle than making sure there was enough gas in my old one. I love that its quiet.

dude i use that same deal. blows hard enough to get any mud and two stroke splooge / chain lube off with out having to worry about blowing off graphics or damaging anything. I've literally blown flagstone apart using high end gas pressure washers...not something i would be shooting at my bike twice a week. I usually just put some lube or two stroke oil around the different fittings so its easier to unscrew the house / everything else after using it.

I have a couple but this one in my favorite. Its the Ryobi 3100 psi with the Honda 190cc engine but it has the idle down feature so unless you are pulling the trigger the engine is at idle and it also has the 5-in-1 nozzle for easy spray-pattern changes. The thing has been flawless.

I should have got the e start model...
Make sure that there's no pressure in the water line when you're trying to start it (ie pull the trigger on the wand).

It's the gallons per minute rating that matters more than the PSI when you're trying to knock mud off.

I picked up this 2.3 GPM Greenworks washer today at Lowe's... https://www.lowes.com/pd/Greenworks-Pro-2300-PSI-2-3-Gallon-GPM-Water-Electric-Pressure-Washer/1000731280) and it's way more powerful that my last few Karcher's which were 1.5 GPM In fact, like someone mentioned earlier, it's so much more powerful than your average electric washer that I'm a little worried it may be bad for bearings, etc.

Those of you with pickup trucks, what have you done to mount a water tank?

I've been thinking of mounting a water tank on my Ranger and bringing a pressure washer with me. Having the ability to wash at the track would be a luxury worth investing in to me.

For a track wash I'd do the hand pump. Aka weed sprayer.
An electric pressure washer is gonna require that you run the truck unless you have at a minimum a 2nd deep cycle. And I've never seen a gas pressure washer thatd be reasonable to fit in the back of a ranger with the dirt bike, ramp, toolbox and so on.

On my explorer I was gonna mount PVC tubes between the frame rail and body, but never got around to it. If you're determined to mount a water tank to the ranger, you could do the same. I think the explorer could do 8? Gallons or so. Depending what year ranger you have, itd be the same.
Could look into a toolbox. The dehu? Brand fits above the wheel wells and is reasonably priced.
Bronco BII gas tank bolts in place of the spare tire IIRC. But then wheres the spare go? Silly

Ok fellas...I had to eat my words. I went thru 3 HF units. The last one didn't even make it through one car washing. I splurged and got the high dollar commercial Honda. Like stepping out of a Yugo and getting behind the wheel of a Ferrari.

In this case...you get what you pay for. Please don't tell my wifeBlush

I could never justify the price of the karcher or hotzee. I am going to hook my hose to the garage sink and see if the hot side does anything.

Crazy... I have countless uses of my green HF unit over the past 4 years. Zero problems... And I beat the shit out of it. They sell different nozzle ends for it now I'm going to try out.

Yeah...my 1st HF unit performed well and lasted for years. When it died I didn't hesitate to buy another. It lasted a couple of months...the third died on the first use. It's just luck of the draw I reckon.

I’m using the RYOBI 1,600 PSI 1.2 GPM Electric Pressure Washer I got at Home Depot for $100. Works like a charm. Zero problems. Had it for a year and still going strong. Small and compact; doesn’t take a lot of room in the garage.
This is the one i have, and no complaints at all.

75’ hose and came with a foam cannon and a bunch of other attachments. It was $880. Push the red bar on bottom and you can remove from wall mount and take with to the track.

Got one of these about 2-3 years ago for about $80-100 (can’t remember) and it’s still kicking. I think there is a ryobi equivalent. Got it from the ryobi factory outlet as a refurb.

Really I think any of these cheaper electric pressure washer will do the truck just fine.

This spring my Stanley electric power washer went out, so I bought the Ryobi 1900 PSI electric unit. Very happy after several months of use. I ordered some different tips and a better hose from Amazon and so far so good. I hope it lasts me several years of use, if not, I'll buy another cheap electric one.

Can't comment on them but they do have good reviews. I went Honda gas cause...well...it's a dang Honda. And because it don't need a cord nor an outlet. Now, if Honda would mount a Ginnie on this thing...bammm. Winner. (Small compressor too).
