He’s 30-40 points ahead of where he was at this time last year. I’d say he’s just fine.

Maybe he's learned from past mistakes and is riding in his comfort zone for a few rounds. His raw speed isn't always necessary. No need to go full R-tard this early in the series. And I mean that in a ridiculous kind of speed way.

He has always been a little slower starting on the west coast blue grove tracks. Mixed with learning to manage a championship and taking whats given. Championship doesn't start until daytona. When its get rough and rutted, eli turns it up. He's fine. Y'all settle down.

So when does eli start passing people? He waxed this field all 2018.

I'll answer it again, just ike I did the first day of this thread, he is hurt. He spent several weeks off the bike just before the season started and has just started riding during the week last week.

Edit: after watching the 3rd gang bang, i take full credit for lighting a fire under his ass to get a win. Spoke too soon. Doh.
I’m very baffled by everyone that doesn’t understand the approach he is taking to win a championship.

Marvin and bagget passed him from behind and then gapped him so I don’t think that’s playing it safe IMO!!

More conservative/less aggressive than ever. Also, hasn't finished worse than 4th.

To add, last weekend marvin passed him and eli dropped anchor.

Hes not protecting a title. He lost a point tonight. Traditional eli would have made it happen.

Pre season injury has to be true

Something was up with the bike. The way he missed the triple and slowed down the next lane,...theres something there.

Completely agree with you and there’s no way in hell Eli would let those two get by and not immediately retaliate if everything. Was fine IMO!!

He missed the triple because he cased the jump before it, but yeah his bike was smoking a bit during the heat race. Could’ve been something

He was his old self in the heat race, but completely off his pace in the main. I think his bike acting up plus seeing what happened to Savagty got in his head and he tried to ride safe. It was so frustrating watching him go basically nowhere while you saw, for instance, Blake Baggett charge from 17th to 3rd!

What's your problem? It was the fourth race of the season. Not the ninth. And, in any way, he sits in 3rd with 80 points, 3 points less than Webb, who won 2 races. This is ridicolous.

Im still thinking he's playing it smart, he rode up from around 12th and we've seen what he can do with a start. Track and whoops were tough, probably favored the whoop jumpers. Uptite said he's back to practicing as of last week, so hes definitely good.

He’s just managing the championship. He’s light years ahead of where he has been at this point in every other SX season of his career. It’s not easy to manage a championship and be on the box every weekend like Dungey did. That all being said, Webb is a new battle he’s never fought before, as is Baggett. That’s two legit championship contenders now he probably didn’t have on his radar.

Although true, BB was behind from the start and wasnt making gains, they both caught MM. It seems like that mistake he made gave MM and BB an easy way though and then both rode great and dropped both KR and ET.
I think ET made the mistake then was running KR pace and not his own. ET and BB had the best rides reallg as they came through.

Webb is the biggest wildcard of all time. Everyone expected he was gonna win a bunch of races right away and be battling the topguys. They all forgot about him then all of a sudden he arrived. I wouldnt be surprised if now that it “clicks” he won the whole thing, he has that level of potential. I also wouldnt be surprised if he pulled a Baggett/Barcia and can win on a good day but otherwise is a top 5 guy. Something feels different though.... probably because this was supposed to happen n now it is. He won his mx championship with a broken hand... Plus Ando won last year, who besides last year would you say is better overall/higher ceiling. Gonna be interesting.

getting passed by Bagget and Marvin is improvement ?? he won heat easily , so dont think setup is a big issue

so maybe rumours about a possible injury were true ...
time will tell , he is still up there and in a better place as last season

If he had an injury as you said, not much time on the bike ect, yeah i saw an improvement with his flow.

As you said, his heat race was pretty good. Beast lap time of both heat. His race was decent in view of his terrible start.

He ate Roczen, in the mental game between the two is pretty good because Roczen was ahead at this game...

Webb has no experience, I'm not afraid of him even if I like him, It will be a fight Musquin Tomac as usual with Roczen as referee or better if he handles well his little lack of speed. I can be champion with the Dungey Style and a big mistake of Tomac or Musquin.

Bagget factor X.

The slightest error has to be paid for in cash at this point.

I forgot... KTM lol. I hate that brand so much, she bring a lot of money but at the same time, that money destroy the rest of MX/SX ecosystem like a pike in a pond.

Just an opinion..
