No I realized you weren't located in Canada, but I'd still go back and ask about it.

I ran the bike through some heat cycles to break the motor in. Once that was done I just went up and down the street a few times and man you could definitely feel the difference with more bottom end from the power value. My son's dying to ride it the weekend.

Anyone know what the actual cost is to the dealer for one of these?

Paid about $4600 for one, then it got stolen few days back. Dealer said he’s checking with Yamaha to see when he can get another and he’ll sell it at cost. If cost is actually decent then may buy another if my budget allows.

Also, in a state that titles dirtbikes, can you trade a bike in without a title (Florida)?

I don’t know about HP numbers but I could provide seat to foot pegs measurements later today.

Do the 65 and 85 share a basic bottom end?
They have same bottom end . We have both yz65/85.. very impressed with both.. The YPVS power valve is amazing an delivers power straight away, a lot less clutching is needed and more aggressive to ride than the KTM/Husky

I was a little disappointed to see the new YZ85 didn’t have any of the styling cues with the tank and shrouds in both sides. Looks like allot of the bike is unchanged.

Is the MSRP the same as the YZ65?
2020 is the Change in Cosmetics .. 19 was all about the engine/Chassis ...

I know it’s an older question but for what it’s worth the spare top end kit thing is outside the US only. Never understood why that was. And that little metal dowel looking thing is to take apart the power valve linkage. Stuff it in there to prevent the arm from twisting when you crack the bolt loose

We've been extremely happy with our 2019 YZ85 so far, have 25hrs on it now. Going to send off the suspension to NOST Technologies to try out his stuff for our AX season that starts next month.

Last week my son rode his buddy's 2019 Husky TC85 and he's pretty admit that he's not really a fan of the Husky/KTM. Doesn't like the feel of the bike or the clutch.

It kind of looks like I can take the PC pipe and silencer from his current bike and it on this bike which would be kind of nice.

He really didn’t like the feel of the clutch and how wide the bike felt compared to his Yammy.

Huh, the YZ is wider than the TC85 from what I have seen? I mean I would love it if my kid like the YZ as they are great bikes and inexpensive but doesn't hold up performance wise against the older ktm/husky much less the '18 from our experience....

I waited as long as I could to buy an '18 TC85 hoping Yamaha would announce the new YZ85. Finally picked up last week and from the Husky's performance plus what I am seeing from Yamaha I am fine with my decision. I will wai until someone else buys one and have hime test ride it. if he likes it a bunch we will switch then. be curious how they will do the big wheel kit? Advantage of the TC/SX is everything same but wheels.....Makes the price difference not so much if you have to buy a kit for the Yamaha like before.
Small wheels transfer straight over, I used a set of 2013 hubs and Sm pro rims, fit bang on..power wise the new 19 ypvs is amazing an smooth

That's good news if you don't need a longer swingarm like the older ones. That was a total pain in the ass to deal with......Hopefully they also reinforced the frame the old ones broke around the swingarm holes big time..........We will stay on Husky's unless my kid somehow got a free ride on Yamaha, lol. Other than a couple odd issues the 18/19 TC85's are unreal performance wise and extremely easy to work on..........

Its interesting seeing the different input, my son rode a 19 yz and was super excited...until he hit the track. He felt really cramped coming off his ktm. He is only 5 foot but long limbs. He didnt like it at all. I was hoping he would like it. Would have saved me some $$, but no luck. It seems to fit shorter body types a little better in stock configuration.

Kids like what they know

And they also like what they see... ktm has been an iconic brand for many of these guys for the last 7 years

Add in the fact most kids ride orange on a 65 and already associate to that for 2-3 years, and the fact the ktm feels a lot “different” than the japenese 85s - its hard to get a true fair feedback in a day let alone a month of swapping bikes

It used to be - most kids didnt ride ktm 85s because they felt weird vs the japenese 85s - and nearly every kid started kx or yz. Hell in 07-10 all I prectically worked on were yz85s... they were popular!

Now its flipped. Kids start ktm and stay.

Is the 19 swingarm able to run big wheels like KTM and Husky? Would be a shame for them to have to run the older style longer swingarm to be able to run big wheels and still have some room for chain adjustment.

No you would still need a longer swingarm to be able to run a 16" rear wheel on the 19 YZ85. I was a little disappointed about that too.

Dang, I was going to put the 19 swingarm on our 18 so I could have the modern style chain adjusters and I was hoping to kill two birds with one stone. In that I got the new swingarm and that I could put big wheels on it at a later date. With the OEM swingarm being a little over 300$ online and Nihilo wanting 500$ to modify one I was hoping to save a little money. I wonder what the Euro YZ85LW bikes are running for a swingarm? I still don't see why they have had a LW option for several years now and the US dealers cant or are not interested in them.

Thanks for the part number! It appears to be on intergalactic backorder from what I have found, I don't have to have one right now anyways. So I'll just wait until its available.

Do you really think that Yamaha is going to do further updates to this bike for 2020 after they updated it pretty heavily for 2019?
If so I may keep my son on his current bike until the 2020s come out.
