Obviously interchangeable its just a list but I tried to get it fairly close to what I thought the lineup is. At least enough to be interchangeable within each group of 5. No list will ever be accurate or agreed upon but holy jeezus this is a stacked class. There is not a ringer or a nobody within the top 20. I remember when just outside the top 10 youd start to get no name guys. That large chunk of 250 riders moving up really made this class what its supposed to be (the premier class). Imagine when Jeremy Martin Moves up? Cianciarulo? Not a who lot of chances to win for a long time the way it is now. Obviously injuries will thin it out but this is stacked.
Go watch A1 in 1999...that was stacked!

This is year is definitely deeper than before, the 450 class needed some new blood from the 250s, makes it much more exciting this year for sure.

When I saw "Fastest top 20 ever"...it's the "ever" that got me thinking & I expected to see some of the names from your list. There have been some REALLY fast riders over the years.

There is definitely a lot of talent now, in the AMA and MXGP series. It's really going to be fun to watch. The thing that people need to realize, is just because there are only 5 or so guys in each series that have a chance to win the championships, doesn't mean the other 15 aren't exceptional riders. I think we can agree that, more than likely either Tomac, Anderson, Musquin or Roczen will take the crown, but there are others that can certainly crack the top 5. This should be a fun year.

Every era seems to produce that special stacked season. Maybe we'll be treated to an epic event such as 1990 Atlanta SX. A main event that saw 6 different leaders, O'Mara, Bradshaw, Copper, Kiedrowski, Johnson and Ward. Racing at some points as many a four wide. It was a sight to behold!

Hopefully the contenders can maintain good health this season and we are entertained with a competitive season.

The privateer is seemingly becoming extinct in the premiere supercross class as the sport is trending more towards full factory gates. Maybe not a bad thing?

The 80 had the deepest fields. Probably because of the Factorys had at least 2 riders riders in each class 125, 250 and 500 all they raced 250 SX as there was no 125SX series.

I dont think Webb is overrated at all, hes under performed on the YZF... theres a difference. How would one of the most dominant 250 riders in recent memory, along with Zacho be overrated? Hes just under performed since he moved up. He dominated the 250 class against incredible competition. Im not starting a MEGA DERAIL so calm down but he even caught and passed Herlings... not saying hes better at all hes just had some great rides. It just hasnt worked out great on the 450 but theres a reason Reed stuck up for him, Roger signed him, and Baker is training him.

Stacked field yes... But I'm more interested in who is going to shock us all and run Tomac's pace or go quicker consistently! Who has done their homework this off season and who has the fire to go after him night after night?? That's the question I want answered. And if somebody doesn't step up we are all in for a snooze fest IMO

For sure agree on the top 5 , not for sure on the order. as for the rest it is a crap shoot.

I think people get confused with many more winners meaning deeper fields sometimes. Just because ET or RV or whoever dominates doesnt mean the field is weak. If Eli is in his 2015 form this sx season and wins every race by a minute that doesnt mean everybody sucks now, it means hes all time fast. People would say the field sux if that happened though.

ET and RV both have been crushed by Euros...

Didn't use to be that way.

And Supercoss was huge in the 80's as well.

Be aware that last year only 6 riders made and raced every main event - and another 4 rode all main events except 1
