So it’s going to be $7399 OTD for the 2018, and $5700 for the 2017. If you call in you might be able to knock some off, but that’s what my boss told me. No sales tax out of state. 860-741-2173, we’re enfield motorsports

Use searchtempest.com if you haven't already. I see a lot of good deals on Craigslist using that search site that otherwise, I wouldn't find.
Screw PA tax. I've been buying in NY lately

I found the opposite in riding both brands. They both have good turning features with the RM RMZ chassis not being as stable as the CR CRF.

I have a buddy looking to do the same thing.

He's trying to sell his 2018 350SXF and is looking at left over 17-18 RMZ450's for dirt cheap. You can do a lot of mods to the RMZ for the cost of a new KTM or similar jap bike.
Yea but why would you want to ? Austrians are steppin up that quality game right off the assembly line. No need to modify.

Buy a leftover then.....if you’re
Gonna spend 6,000. What’s another $2500?

You guys are nuts! But, it’s whatever makes ya happy.

$2500 buys you a revalve, pipe, levers, ect. Plus lots air filters, tires, oil changes. All of the same stuff you'd be doing to a KTM or Husky.

I own a 2018 KTM 350 and love it. If I wanted a 450 it would be hard not to just jump on the RMZ bandwagon because of how cheap they are.

Because i can sell the husky as a used bike for basically the same amount as the brand new rmz will be....2500 is a big difference when ur saving for a house. Having a brand new bike again without putting any money from selling a used bike is tempting lol

Im die hard YZ all the way. After buying an RM250 2T, and loving it, I bought an RMZ 250, loved it as well. Ive ridden probably a dozen KTM’s. I have yet to ride one i can gel with. They simply dont fit me or my riding style. There are people out there who simply dont gel with bikes. Its true. Same goes for Kawi’s for me. Tried several, dont like them. People arent “stupid” for not buying a KTM. To some they are truly garbage bikes for what they want. Thats how it is for me and several people i ride with who have tried them. They just dont work for us. Doesnt mean they dont work well for others, they do. But to tell someone they are dumb for passing on buying one is as ignorant as it gets

Kooztune does an adjustable link ($130) and are by far the cheapest which I highly recommend. Get the BFRC revalved. I suggest racetech ($200ish) but have heard FC has a good setting for these bikes as well. Forks you could live with if you're on a budget.
If your after more power, cut out the restrictor/reducer in the tailpipe (free) you could get the ecu remapped by tokyo mods ($90)

Great bikes, enjoy

Hope you like it. If I still raced and/or didn't have neighbors I'd still have one. Hell I'd consider one if a super quiet exhaust was available like those old Supertraps with the removable disks.

The pricing mentioned above is dirt cheap, but a 250 2-stroke may cost less in the long run with inexpensive parts and do it yourself rebuilds.

The YZ250 may be a polar opposite of a 2012-2015 KX450. I have ridden my YZ and a 2012 KX450 back to back. Both have their charms. The 450 is much easier to ride. I love the sound of the YZ in the mid to top.

Buy the one you like, as you'll be the one cutting the check and riding the thing. I may have bought an RMZ450 instead of my YZ250, as I'm getting old in moto years and perhaps an "old man bike" would be more enjoyable to ride than an ADHD schitzo 250 2-stroke.

Honestly the RMZ450 is bulletproof, you wont have to touch a single thing on the motor for 150 hours, not even check valves. These things may be heavy but they last forever.

I've been impressed with them. My pops had a 13, 15 and has two 17's. All have been great. Idk if they are as bulletproof as the Yamaha's, but they are pretty darn good.

150 Hours?

300 30 minute motos?

That sounds like a lot of run time before touching anything on an RMZ450.

I got roughly 100 hours on an 06 CRF450 and a 11 YZF450 before a rebuild, and I thought that was pushing it.

If they last that long, great! But a rebuild on a 450 will be pricey when the time comes. Mine cost all of ~$300 in parts, a 12-pack, and a few hours in a garage with the stereo blasting.

I think he is stating "Compliant" not "Stable". The Honda is a bit more stable, but not as soft. I've found the Honda chassis to be stiffer than the aluminum framed Suzuki, and transmits more shock to the rider through the pegs and bars. Yes, the Suzuki is a more busy chassis, but it felt softer. I had both at the same time, both modded suspension with correct springs for my weight. Just my own observations as an owner and rider of both.

If you're doing 30min motos then that changes everything. I'm talking about weekend warriors that play ride. Most people don't limiter bash and abuse 450s, if you do then maybe 20-80hrs

If your after more power, cut out the restrictor/reducer in the tailpipe (free) you could get the ecu remapped by tokyo mods ($90)

Great bikes, enjoy
I’ve wondered if Tokyo mods doing ecu really makes that big of a difference ?

Absolutely, I used to use Tom at moto lab but I don't think he does remaps any more. I run a Tokyomods Vortex ecu and it is awesome, you can get the same map on the stock ecu as the Vortex with the only difference being the Vortex has room for 10 maps.

On toykomods site they don’t list rmz as an option for ecu remapping, I remember hearing they did it, but it’s not on there now.

Maybe I’ll shoot them email, for small amount money if worth it I’m for it, would like more bottom end and pull, going to do high comp piston, have full fmf already, maybe have head done too.

You are correct, no listing for the rmz. I would definitely flick them an email. Take out the backfire screen on the air filter cage for a little more snap. Does the fmf have a spark arrestor etc, make sure to remove that if you haven't already.

Are you guys really that good that you need more power from a new 450. A lot of this talk is bullshit, my dad used to say "standard stuff for standard men". I consider myself to be a reasonably good rider, now in my early 40's and racing from being 14. Same goes with suspension mods, most of us wouldn't truly benefit from spending shit loads.

Granted, I'm not as quick as I was in my 20's but I'm still out with the experts and all on a standard '17 RMZ450. I also have an RM250 with a bills system on but I only got that because the standard system was beat.

The only positive is you guys are supporting the industry, but you all talk about it like it's essential to mod your brand new bikes which already develop more power than most can deal with.

X2. Maybe people like to build cool bikes. God forbid put $$ in the industry. Do people need 10-20k watches when a $5 dollar watch tells the same time. But people work hard play hard. Who cares how others spend their own money.

Soooo im thinking about getting a new rmz450. I had a 15 kx450 and hated it. It felt like a dump truck, brutal power delivery, felt heavy, felt tiring, all arm pump and fighting it.

Rode a 17 crf450 and besides suspension settings i really liked it. Felt light, engine was more usable.

Would a 18 rmz with suspension set up amd possibly a yosh exhaust be more like a newer crf or that 15 kawi?

Any insight is appreciated.

Currently on a 17 husky 350 that i love but the new rmz's pricing and handling traits/49mm spring forks seems appealing to me.
As soon as they build one with an electric start - Ill be down the dealership buying one

Had the 2016, awesome bike
