I’m a huge Tomac fan and knew in those conditions he wouldn’t be close. Everyone saying we have good mud riders have not seen the GP riders in those conditions, they are way far ahead of us in the mud and even more ahead of us in wet + a sand situation.

All that being said and Tomac stating he wishes he could race GPS but the schedule conflicts. He should race the last 2 GPS next year/train in sand to prepare for the nations.

No conflicting schedules, plus he could compare himself to those guys on the other tracks.

Bingo! No conflicts to race a couple of GP's (if he really wants to do it) before the MXdN at Assen. Alas, he won't! He'll probably...

Alas, he won't! He'll probably dodge Assen and maybe line up at Ernee in 2020.
I don’t think he will miss it, he has to want to redeem himself a bit. Even if it’s only top 3-5 at assen (which I think he’s capable of) barring rain obviously Laughing

You think the Team USA riders rode like that all year ?

They had a shit weekend , it does not prove Europe has gained leaps and bounds over us.

Just to be clear I'm not saying USA didn't get worked over because they did.

Look at Coldenhof how many moto's did He win in GP's ? or Lawrence the last good ride he did was MXoN Matterley Basin got his ass worked all year.

Or Paulin who was getting lapped every week in GP's

it was one race proves nothing.
The difference here is that it wasnt just the US team it was every last AMA rider doing shit.

Those that don't want to acknowledge the USA is not the best at motocross and that the US National series are not the best motocross riders in the world will never accept it. Same reason they feel they live in the greatest country in the world when we are a complete joke for education costs, crime, drug use, incarceration, wages, health care, government corruption, politics etc.

News flash American. Your not the only country with freedom. Wake up already. You just got beat by a country with a population of 17 million with 2 riders vs the USA with 3 riders and 325 million.

For the 7th straight year. On the most American motocross track in the USA. Whats it going to take for everyone in the industry to wake up and do something about it?

Well, that right there proves that Herlings cannot race SX for shit. LMFAO.

That was a failed event and not a supercross race. Both spectators in attendance will agree.

So what if it was a backwoods fairgrounds race? He still went faster than USA's top guys, with a better lap time and a faster top recorded speed as well.

Herlings cleaned his ass on a MX track and he needs excuses, its normal. Comparing with SX is just for the ego. Nobody can say Herlings is the best dirt scooter rider in the world, but he is hands down the best motocross rider. And Tomac got schooled by more than just Herlings at Red Bud.

So, yeah, the Euros are not as good as him in SX (Musquin, Euro, Roczen, Euro, had Herlings made the switch to the US, he'd probably be as good in SX), but the conversation isn't about SX, it's about being ridiculed at the best motocross race of the year, on home soil.

So, yeah, consolation prize, go back to the lame MEC and get ready for A1. Sure.

yea , if AMA guys can train another 6 weeks of motocross after their moto season ends and miss time training for Supercross which is the majority of their riding / career then why couldn't a few MXGP guys stick around UNDER one week from Redbud MXdN and race MEC today?

They were already in the US and MEC is just 6 days away. The US guys race SX mainly and train well after their MX season is over and comprise their career when they should be training for SX and show up at MXdN in October after their season ended mid August but MXGP guys (especially this year when they are already in the US & Monster Cup is only 6 days later , they can't stick around and try MEC & be out of their element & have the balls to try it?

There's no whoops so Herlings would be "safe", oh wait Tim G, showed last year that even a tamed down SX track was a bit much for him as he didn't fare to well & I have interviews of Tim J with MX Vice just this year in August claiming his "dream" is STILL to race in the US including Supercross but it didn't go too well & no other major MXGP guy has even attempted a tamed down SX much less a true SX track - why not?

SX is such a whimpy sport , why don't they give MEC a try and be willing to do poorly outside of their element or prove that they can do well at MEC? All of their bikes were here, they were in the US, MEC's only 6 days after MXdN......

No dog in this fight. All I really care about is outdoors. That said that's no SX track they were on. Ya they were indoors that's about it

are you forgetting "motoplook" that Tomac has won FIVE of SIX moto's (with the other finish a 3rd) in MXGP moto's 2016 - 2017 ? All 5 of those moto wins included beating Tim J, Febrve, Tony C, and the 2017 win last year including beating all of those guys plus Herlings .

But yet suddenly after 1 race Tomac can't beat the entire top 15 MXGP field when he's his USGP MXGP record is 5 of 6 moto wins and a 3rd (thru as recent as just last year 2017) -

OK though, you must be right, Tomac can't take most of the MXGP field today though Tomac somehow has won 5 of 6 MXGP regular season moto's the past 2 years...

EDIT:
ok, done posting / reading for today, can't believe i wasted time even replying with the above and any other reply today :-)

Because it is not MOTOCROSS dumbass. Any chance you can understand the difference between the 2 sports? Does a fucken gynecologist perform brain surgery? No because he understands the difference between a pussy and a brain.

Was a big fan of Eli when he broke into the pro ranks but that faded as time went by. His tendency to sulk when things went wrong and the maddening way it takes him forever to pick up his bike and get going after a fall. Guy B's interview with him was a refreshing change. He seemed genuinely down about the way the MXON turned out and stated he wished he had another swingat against those guys more than once a year really caught me by surprise. Laughed out loud when said unless they are at MEC and A1, you have to put an asterik by them being the best.
He's a kid racing his dirt bike with a ton of pressure. It easy for you to "nit pick" on the side of the track.

If DV can blitz whoops in flip flops and a hat backwards on a girls bike, pretty sure herlings can do it too.
Herrings would be better than top 5 today. He beat Dungey at the German sx 2 years ago.

That wasn’t close to an sx track.

It was a sand indoor track with jumps lol

And he didn’t beat Dungey. Dungey won the overall.

He beat him in one race out of 3 i think.

Far from the truth, just retarded.

Its like saying graham jarvis needs to show up in lommel to be the best extreme enduro rider. For fuck sake supercross isnt the same sport as motocross, when Will u guys start realize this and stop comparing then two!?.

Bullshit, it's indoor motocross

Bunch of cry babies want to separate them so you can win the argument.

Herlings spends 100% time training for Outdoors, Tomac has to split 70% indoor 30% outdoors.

Come on over race MEC and SX then talk shit.
But didn't you (USA) years ago use SX as the reason why you dominated MXON??

What changed?
So you think SX in 1989 would compare to now? How much more effort is put into it from all sides? How many rounds of it they do etc? I think it probably did help them in the past, but now it’s what they do 70 percent of the time. So to break this down for you and the fins that constantly say this, it is the show with moto 3 months on the side. Used to be just a few special events.

A few nations still smoked them and I don’t think it is debatable, JH84 is fastest for sure but some of these counter arguments are terrible.

Also, when did SX and MX become two different sports? Maybe two different disciplines but def not two separate sports. Even the enduro/cross country argument is dumb and you should be able to see that. Key word SHOULD.

They are 100% different sports. Same as EnduroCross, Freestyle Motocross, etc. As long as there are more SX vs MX rounds in the USA the Outdoor Nationals are not the best motocross riders in the world.

I like SX and am looking forward to the season. I will also follow the GP's for motocross.

I agree with you on the 70% SX and 30%MX thing. 30% time/effort is not going put any country on top of the sport of Motocross.

The USA needs to restructure contracts/sponsorship to eliminate riders having to do both SX and MX. 20 rounds of SX and 20 rounds of outdoor Nationals with different riders in each.
We lost in 2016 because Anderson got landed on. We would’ve won that and your argument would be worthless.

You’re pretty ignorant if you think MXoN results actually matter.

Somehow you think winning the MXoN actually means you’re the best in the world. It has never meant that. And the US riders stopped caring about it quite a while ago.... hence tomac not even going last year

It’s one race and it means nothing. It’s for bragging rights.

Mxgp guys are not on another level and not faster than us. EVERY GP they’ve held in the US is won by an AMA rider.

Josh grant (who isn’t even a top 3 guy) won both his Motos in the MXGP class in 2015. Also the mx2 class was won by an American as well.... forget who. Then 2016 tomac wins all 4 motos in the MXGP class held in the US that year.... was glen Helen and Charlotte... copper Webb won the mx2 class against HERLINGS. THen 2017 we see tomac win a moto and get 3 in the second moto, and RJ hampshire go 1/1 now how is there a gap??

The only thing that matters in racing is the final results. USA has lost the last 7 years straight. Yes many top usa riders don't want to go. There is no longer anything to fuel their national pride in this country. Winning the MXdN has always meant best in the world - that is the sole reason they have run the event for 72 consecutive years. Herlings beat Tomac at the USGP in Florida just last year. Go ahead and keep lying to yourself if it helps you sleep at night.
